The Primary Research on oil Conversion Technology of biomass by Pyrolysis (열분해에 의한 바이오매스의 유류자원화 기술에 관한 기초 연구)

  • This study aims to develop an alternative energy like oil made from marine organic waste by marine products waste, spent fishing nets. There are already many commercial examples and case studies based on the petroleum industry-refuse plastic or refuse tire, however, it is rare that a research developing alternative energy from food waste and organic waste. Therefore, this study investigated the oil made from thermal decomposition under the high temperature and high pressure condition, and examined the possibility for commercial use by testing its own characteristics. A bio-oil from thermal decomposition at $250^{\circ}C$ and 40 atm was hard to remove impurities because of its high viscosity, showed lower caloric value than heavy oil, and generated various gases which were not appropriate for the use of fuel. It is noticeable that thermal decomposition was occurred at $250{\pm}5^{\circ}C$ using steam pressure, which much lower compared to the existing method of thermal decomposition, more than $500^{\circ}C$. Since the high viscosity of bio-oil, it is necessary a further study to use as liquid fuel.

  • Decontamination wastewater generated from the HyBRID decontamination process of the primary system in a nuclear power plant contains impurities such as sulfate ions, metal ions containing radioactive nuclides, and hydrazine (carcinogenic agent). For this reason, it is necessary to develop a technology to remove these impurities from the wastewater to a safe level. In this study, it has been conducted to remove the impurities using a decontamination wastewater surrogate, and a treatment process of the HyBRID decontamination wastewater has been established. The performance and applicability of the treatment process have been verified through 1 L scale of replicates and a pilot scale (300 L/batch) test.

Study on Photocatalytic Reaction Using Acicular TiO2 Rutile Powder (침상구조의 루틸상 TiO2 초미분체를 이용한 광촉매 반응에 대한 연구)

  • The redox properties of a homogeneously-precipitated $TiO_2$ rutile powder with a BET surface area of ~$200 m^2$/g, consisting of an acicular primary particle, were characterized using photocatalytic reaction in aqueous 4-chlorophenol, Cu-EDTA and Pb-EDTA solutions under ultraviolet irradiation, compared to those of commercial P-25 X$200 m_2$ powder with a spherical primary particle as well as home-made anatase $TiO_2$ powder with ~$200 m^2$/g BET surface area. Here, the anatase powder also includes mainly the primary particles very similar to the acicular shapes of the rutile $TiO_2$ powder. The rutile powder showed the fastest decomposition rate and the largest amount in the photoredor, compared with the anatase or P-25 powder, while the anatase powder unexpectedly showed the slowest rate and the smallest amount in the same experiments regardless of almost the same surface area. From results, the excellent photoredox abilities of this rutile powder appears to be due to specific powder preparation method, like a homogeneous precipitation leading to direct crystallization from the solution, regardless of their crystalline structures even when having the similar particle shape and surface area.

Glucose Deprivation and Immunostimulation Induced Death in Rat Primary Astrocytes is Mediated by Their Synergistic Effect on the Decrease in Cellular ATP Level

  • In this study we investigated whether ATP loss was involved in the potentiated death of immunostimulated rat primary astrocytes in glucose-deprived condition. Rat primary astrocytes immunostimulated with LPS plus IFN-${\gamma}$ for 48 h underwent death upon glucose deprivation, which dependent on the production of peroxynitrite. Intracellular ATP level synergistically decreased by glucose deprivation in immunostimulated astrocytes but not in control cells, and the loss of ATP occurred well ahead of the LDH release. The synergistic cell death and ATP loss by immunostimulation and glucose deprivation were inhibited by iNOS inhibitor (L-NAME and L-NNA) or peroxynitrite decomposition catalyst (also a superoxide anion scavenger), Mn(III)tetrakis(N-methyl-4'-pyridyl)porphyrin (MnTMPyP). Exogenous addition of peroxynitrite generator, SIN-l timedependently induced ATP loss and cell death in the glucose-deprived astrocytes. Depletion of intracellular glutathione (GSH) and dis겨ption of mitochondrial transmembrane potential (MTP) were also observed under same conditions. Supply cellular ATP by the addition of exogenous adenosine or ATP during glucose deprivation inhibited ATP depletion, GSH depletion, MTP disruption and cell death in SIN-l treated or immunostimulated astrocytes. This study showed that perturbation in the regulation of intracellular ATP level in immunostimulated astrocytes might make them more vulnerable to energy challenging stimuli.

Characteristics of the HVOF_sprayed $\textrm{Cr}_{3}\textrm{C}_{2}$-NiCr Coationg Layer (HVOF 용사된 $\textrm{Cr}_{3}\textrm{C}_{2}$-NiCr 용사층의 특성)

  • The purpose of this study was performed to compare to the characteristics (microstructure, phase change and hardness, erosion rate) of HVOF sprayed coatings with 20wt% NiCr claded and 7wt%NiCr mixed $\textrm{Cr}_{3}\textrm{C}_{2}$ powder. In the case of the 20wt% NiCr claded $\textrm{Cr}_{3}\textrm{C}_{2}$ powder, microstructural feature showed that the primary $\textrm{Cr}_{3}\textrm{C}_{2}$ was remained in the coating but was barely remained in the mixed $\textrm{Cr}_{3}\textrm{C}_{2}$ coating. As a results of XRD analysis, both 20wt%NiCr claded and 7wt% NiCr mixed $\textrm{Cr}_{3}\textrm{C}_{2}$ powder was decomposed during spraying but the degree of decomposition of the 20wt%NiCr claded was lower than 7wt%NiCr mixed $\textrm{Cr}_{3}\textrm{C}_{2}$ powder. After spraying the mixed powder for microhardness was higher than claded $\textrm{Cr}_{3}\textrm{C}_{2}$ powder and which was increased up to $\textrm{Hv}_{300}$= 1665 after heat treatment to $1000^{\circ}C$. however. 20wt%NiCr claded $\textrm{Cr}_{3}\textrm{C}_{2}$ became to decrease at $600^{\circ}C$ which was the maximum.

  • A cubic perovskite-type CaCu₃Ti₄O/sub 12/ compound has recently drawn a great attention because of an extraordinary high permittivity (~10⁴ at 1 kHz) at room temperature and its near temperature-independence over a wide temperature region, and thus numerous literature have been reported on CCTO polycrytalline ceramics and thin films. However, only a few literature have been reported on the CCTO single due to the lack of information about the CCTO primary phase field. On the basis of our recent experimental determination of the CCTO primary phase field, we could grow ACu₃Ti₄O/sub 12/(A=Ca, Sr) single crystals using both top-seeded solution growth and flux growth methods. This presentation will include three major parts. In part I, the thermal decomposition reaction of CCTO and its primary phase field in the CaO-CuO-TiO₂ ternary system will be presented. Detailed growth conditions of ACu₃Ti₄O/sub 12/(A=Ca, Sr) single crystals and characteristics of as-grown crystals will be followed in Part II. Part III will be comprised of dielectric properties of as-grown ACu₃Ti₄O/sub 12/(A=Ca, Sr) single crystals. Our experimental results will be compared with those of previous reports for discussion.

Control for Minimizing Power Consumption in Micro Disk Drives (마이크로 디스크 드라이브의 전력소모 최소화 제어)

  • Recently, the demand for micro hard disk drive that provides high-capacity removable storage for handhold electronic devices is growing very rapidly Reducing power consumption is one of the primary control objectives in micro disk drives. The input power delivered to the seek servo system is consumed as heat by the transistors of power amplifier and motor coil resistance. In this paper, we present a new seek servo controller for minimizing the power consumption. We use a Fourier decomposition and nonlinear programming to determine the optimum seek profile that minimizes the power consumption. Also, the trajectory tracking controller is developed for exact tracking of the optimum seek profile. Finally, we present some experimental results using a commercially available micro disk drive in order to demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed controller.

  • We compare FT (Fourier Transform) and SD (Stress Decomposition), the interpretation methods for LAOS (Large Amplitude Oscillatory Shear). Although the two methods are equivalent in mathematics. they are significantly different in numerical procedures. Precision of FT greatly depends on sampling rate and length of data because FT of experimental data is the discrete version of Fourier integral theorem. FT inevitably involves unnecessary frequencies which must not appear in LAOS. On the other hand, SD is free from the problems from which FT suffers, because SD involves only odd harmonics of primary frequency. SD is based on two axioms on shear stress: [1] shear stress is a sufficiently smooth function of strain and its time derivatives; [2] shear stress satisfies macroscopic time-reversal symmetry. In this paper, we compared numerical aspects of the two interpretation methods for LAOS.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide the ideal forecasting model of cadastral survey work load through the Economeatric Analysis of Time Series, Granger Causality and VAR Model Analysis, it suggested the forecasting reference materials for the total amount of cadastral survey general work load. The main result is that the derive of the environment variables which affect cadastral survey general work load and the outcome of VAR(vector auto regression) analysis materials(impulse response function and forecast error variance decomposition analysis materials), which explain the change of general work load depending on altering the environment variables. And also, For confirming the stability of time series data, we took a unit root test, ADF(Augmented Dickey-Fuller) analysis and the time series model analysis derives the best cadastral forecasting model regarding on general cadastral survey work load. And also, it showed up the various standards that are applied the statistical method of econometric analysis so it enhanced the prior aggregate system of cadastral survey work load forecasting.

  • As more and more digital images are made by various applications, image retrieval becomes a primary concern in technology of multimedia. This paper presents color based descriptor that uses information of color distribution in color images which is the most basic element for image search and performance of proposed visual feature is evaluated through the simulation. In designing the image search descriptor used color histogram, HSV, Daubechies 9/7 and 2 level wavelet decomposition provide better results than other parameters in terms of computational time and performances. Also histogram quadratic matrix outperforms the sum of absolute difference in similarity measurements, but spends more than 60 computational times.
