Determination of Secondary Reserve Requirement Through Interaction-dependent Clearance Between Ex-ante and Ex-post

  • This paper discusses a method for the determination of frequency control reserve requirement with consideration of the interaction between ex-ante planning and real-time balancing. In proposed method, we consider the fact that the delivered energy for tertiary control reserve is determined based on required capacity for secondary control reserve and the expected amount of load errors. Uncertain load errors are derived by Brownian motion, an optimization method is suggested using a stochastic programming. In a short, we propose an interactive dependent method for determining secondary control reserve requirement based on the principle that it satisfies to minimize the total cost. As a result, this paper provides will analyze for an example model to demonstrate the capabilities of the method.

Optimal Reserve Allocation to Maximize Kinetic Energy in a Wind Power Plant

  • Modern wind generators (WGs) are forced or encouraged to participate in frequency control in the form of inertial and/or primary control to improve the frequency stability of power systems. To participate in primary control, WGs should perform deloaded operation that maintains reserve power using speed and/or pitch-angle control. This paper proposes an optimization formulation that allocates the required reserve to WGs to maximize the kinetic energy (KE) stored in a wind power plant (WPP). The proposed optimization formulation considers the rotor speed margin of each WG to the maximum speed limit, which is different from each other because of the wake effects in a WPP. As a result, the proposed formulation allows a WG with a lower rotor speed to retain more KE in the WPP. The performance of the proposed formulation was investigated in a 100-MW WPP consisting of 20 units of 5-MW permanent magnet synchronous generators using an EMTP-RV simulator. The results show that the proposed formulation retains the maximum amount of KE with the same reserve and successfully increases the frequency nadir in a power system by releasing the stored KE in a WPP in the case of a disturbance.

  • High wind penetration might cause the frequency stability problem because a wind power plant (WPP) is operating in a maximum power tracking mode to extract the maximal energy from wind and thus does not react to the system frequency variation. Therefore, the system operators encourage a WPP to participate in frequency control, which includes inertia/orl and primary control. The frequency support capability of a WPP depends on the amount of kinetic energy (KE) and reserve. This paper formulates an optimization problem to maximize KE while retaining the required reserve. The proposed optimization problem would allow wind generators (WGs) with a smaller wind speed to retaine more KE. The performance of the proposed optimization problem was investigated in a 100-MW WPP consisting of 20 units of 5-MW permanent magnet synchronous generators using an EMTP-RV simulator. The results show that the proposed optimization problem successfully improves the frequency nadir more than a conventional reserve allocation that distributes WGs proportional to the current output.

Spatiotemporal evolution and influencing factors of ecosystem service value in the Sanjiangyuan nature reserve nature reserve

  • Evaluating the temporal and spatial changes in the ecosystem service value (ESV) of the Sanjiangyuan Nature Reserve is important for understanding the impact of human activities on natural ecosystem and guiding ecosystem restoration and environmental pollution control. In this study, remotely sensed land-cover data and the equivalent factor method were used to analyze the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of the ESV in Sanjiangyuan Nature Reserve from 1992 to 2015, and regression analysis was employed to determine the factors driving changes in the ESV. The results show that grassland was the main type of ecosystem in the study area, and the transformation of grassland into bare areas was the primary change in land cover. Additionally, the ESV in the study area first decreased and then increased, with an annual growth rate of 0.69%. The ESV mainly increased in the north of the Yellow River's source area, and mainly decreased in the northwest of the Yangtze River's source area. Finally, the gross output value of agriculture, urbanization rate and proportion of secondary industry were found to be the main factors driving the ESV in the study area.

  • Primary frequency control(PFC) has the ability to regulate short period random variations of frequency during normal operation conditions and also to respond rapidly to emergencies. However, during the past decade, numerous significant sized blackouts occurred worldwide that resulted in serious economic losses. Therefore, the conclusion has been reached that the ability of the current PFC to meet an emergency is poor, and security of power systems should be improved. An alternative to enhance the PFC and thus security is to store excessive amounts of energy during off-peak load periods in efficient energy storage systems for substituting the primary control reserve. In this sense, superconducting magnetic energy storage(SMES) in combination with a static synchronous compensator(STATCOM) is capable of supplying power systems with both active and reactive powers simultaneously and very rapidly, and thus is able to enhance the security dramatically. In this paper, a new concept of PFC based on incorporating a STATCOM-SMES is presented. A complete detailed model is proposed and a new control scheme is designed, comprising an enhanced frequency control scheme, and a fully decoupled current control strategy in d-q coordinates with a novel controller to prevent dc bus capacitors voltage drift/imbalance. The performance of the proposed control schemes is validated through digital simulation carried out using MATLAB/Simulink.

  • As the spreading speed of electric vehicles increases rapidly, those are expected to be able to use them as flexible resources in the power system beyond the concern for the supply of its charging power. Especially when the Renewable Energy sources (RES) which have no intrinsic control capability have replaced the synchronous generators more and more, the power system needs to secure the additional frequency control resources to ensure its stability. However, the feasibility of using electric vehicles as the frequency control resources should be analyzed from the perspective of the power system operation and it requires the existing simulation frameworks for the power system. Therefore, this paper proposes the grid connected modeling of the primary frequency control provided by electric vehicles which can be integrated into the existing power system model. In addition, the proposed model is implemented considering technical performances constrained by the characteristics of the Vehicle-Grid Integration (VGI) system so that the simulation results can be accepted by the power utilities operating the power system conservatively.

  • 본 논문에서는 무선 인지망에서 멀티 클래스 인지 사용자의 서비스를 지원하기 위해 신경망 예측기법에 의한 예측 연결수락제어기법을 제안한다. 제안한 기법에서는 주 사용자가 도착하여 스펙트럼 핸드오프를 해야 하는 인지 사용자를 실시간과 비 실시간 사용자로 구분하고, 실시간 인지사용자에게 가드채널(guard channel)을 우선하여 사용하도록 한다. 이를 위해서 신경망 예측기법을 이용하여 주 사용자의 도착을 예측하고, 실시간 인지사용자가 스펙트럼 핸드오프 하는데 필요로 하는 채널의 크기를 예약하여 요구하는 서비스 품질(QoS)를 보장한다. 실시간과 비 실시간 인지사용자 연결을 위한 자원스케줄링 방법은 본 논문의 $C_IA$(cognitive user I complete access)방법을 사용하며, 연결 수락제어는 인지사용자에 대해서만 실시하여 주 사용자에게는 간섭이 없도록 한다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제안한 연결 수락제어기법이 실시간 인지사용자가 원하는 서비스 품질을 보장할 수 있음을 보인다.

  • Studies on the carbohydrate metabolism of yeast as influenced by gamma-irradiation from cobalt-60 have been carried, then the mechanisms of radiation effect on respiration and fermentation were discussed under considerations of permeable changes of irradiated cell membrane. The cells of baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) which had been gamma-irradiated of 240 k.r. doses for an hour, then were put into aerobic oxidation and anaerobic fermentation without substrate. Total and fractionated carbohydrates of irradiated yeast cells were determined by calorimetric method with anthrone and orcinol reagents, the amounts of total carbohydrate, trehalose, RNA-ribose, PCA-soluble glycogen, alkali-soluble glycogen, acetic acid-soluble glycogen, mannan and glucan were determined according to the course of aerobic oxidation and anaerobic fermentation. It is found that the carbohydrates of irradiated cells leak out and amount of the losses teaches eleven times more than that of control, the volume of losses are seems to be replaced by water, it can be suggested the damage of gamma-irradiation occurs in the site of passive transport of cell membrane. The endogeneous aerobic respiration of irradiated cells are increased much more than control, the synthesis of reserve glycogen, glucan and RNA-ribose promoted much more than control. The anaerobic fermentation of irradiated cells are also increased than that of control, but the breakdown of carbohydrate is less than endogeneous respiration of irradiated cells. The synthetic rate is also less than that of aerobic oxidation. In irradiated yeast cells, trehalose is revealed to be primary substrate for endogeneous carbohydrate metabolism, so it is proved that the enzymic patterns are not changed but the activities of enzymes relating endogeneous respiration and autofermentation is activated. It is to be considerable to distiguish endogeneous respiration and autofermentation from exogeneous respiration and fermentation on irradiation, for membrane permeability changes and loses out carbohydrate by ionizing radiation.

지능 저하를 동반한 두부외상 환자에서 뇌혈류 및 혈류예비능의 변화 (Alterations of Cerebral Blood Flow and Cerebrovascular Reserve in Patients with Chronic Traumatic Brain Injury Accompanying Deteriorated Intelligence)

  • 목적: 두부외상을 받은 후 뇌실질의 해부학적인 병변이 없음에도 불구하고 인지 및 정신운동성 기능장애 등을 호소하는 환자가 많지만 아직 그 병태 생리가 밝혀지지 않고 있다. 연구자는 두부외상 후 해부학적 뇌 병변이 없으면서도 지능저하를 보인 환자에서 국소 뇌혈류(regional cerebral blood flow, CBF) 및 국소 혈류예비능(regional cerebrovascular reserve, CVR) 이상이 있는 지를 알아보고, 지능저하와 관련된 뇌영역을 분석하고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 두부외상을 받은 후 지능저하를 호소하고, 만성기에 시행한 뇌 MRI에서 유의한 대뇌피질의 이상소견이 없었던 30명으로 남자 16명과 여자 14명이었으며, 평균연령은 $34{\pm}12$세였다. 대조군을 19명으로 남자 9명과 여자 10명이었으며, 평균연령은 $44{\pm}17$세였다. 휴식기에 Tc-99m HMPAO 925 MHq를 주사하고 5분째 뇌혈류 SPECT를 촬영하였으며, 촬영 도중 아세타졸아미드 1 g을 3분간 주사하였다. 첫 촬영이 끝난 직후 다시 Tc-99m HMPAO 925 MBq를 주사하여 같은 방법으로 뇌부위를 촬영하였다. 지능검사는 한국판-웩슬러 성인용 지능검사(K-WAIS)를 사용하여 언어성과 동작성에 관련된 11가지 소검사를 시행하였다. 각 소검사 별 비정상 점수를 보인 환자군과 정상 대조군간 유의한 CBF 차이를 윈도우용 SPM'97로 비교분석하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 결과: 1) 모든 언어성 소검사는 좌측 대뇌반구에서 CBF 감소를 보였고, Wernicke 영역과 모두 관련이 있었고 Broca 영역과 관련을 보인 어휘문제를 포함하여 기본지식문제와 숫자외우기는 전두엽, 측두엽 그리고 두정엽과도 관련이 있었다. 우측 대뇌반구에 추가로 CBF 감소를 보인 경우는 기본지식문제, 숫자외우기, 어휘문제와 공통성문제로 전두엽, 측두엽 그리고 두정엽에서 CBF가 감소를 보였다. 2) 동작성 검사에서 CBF 감소는 주로 우측 대뇌반구에서 관찰되었다. 우측 상측두회 후면과 상연회, 운동전 피질, 그리고 일차적 체운동피질과, 우측 전두전야 일부에서 관련이 있었고, 좌측 전두엽과 상연회 일부에서 CBF 감소가 있었다. 3) CVR 감소는 전체적으로 총 64개 뇌영역에서 관찰되었다. 언어성 검사에서 주로 양측 전두엽과 측두엽에서 관찰되었다. 기본지식문제만 양측 하두정회와 후두엽에서 추가로 CVR 감소가 관찰되었다. 동작성 검사에서 주로 양측 전두전야와 상, 중측두회와 관련이 있었다. 결론: 두부외상 후 대뇌피질의 형태학적 손상을 발견할 수 없었던 경미한 손상에서도 CBF 뿐만 아니라 CVR의 감소를 초래되며, 지능 저하와 관련이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 지능 저하는 특정한 뇌영역과 관련되어 있음을 밝혔다.

Effects of Repeated Ovarian Stimulation on Ovarian Function and Aging in Mice

  • Controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) is routinely used in the in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET) cycles to increase the number of retrieved mature oocytes. However, the relationship between repeated COH and ovarian function is still controversial. Therefore, we investigated whether repeated ovarian stimulation affects ovarian aging and function, including follicular development, autophagy, and apoptosis in follicles. Ovarian hyperstimulation in mice was induced by intraperitoneal injection with pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG) and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Mice subjected to ovarian stimulation once were used as a control group and 10 times as an experimental group. Repeated injections with PMSG and hCG significantly reduced the number of primary follicles compared to a single injection. The number of secondary and antral follicles increased slightly, while the number of corpus luteum increased significantly with repeated injections. On the other hand, repeated injections did not affect apoptosis in follicles associated with follicular atresia. The expression of autophagy-related genes Atg5, Atg12, LC3B, and Beclin1, cell proliferation-related genes mTOR, apoptosis-related genes Fas, and FasL was not significantly different between the two groups. In addition, the expression of the aging-related genes Dnmt1, Dnmt3a, and AMH were also not significantly different. In this study, we demonstrated that repeated ovarian stimulation in mice affects follicular development, but not autophagy, apoptosis, aging in ovary. These results suggest that repetition of COH in the IVF-ET cycle may not result in ovarian aging, such as a decrease in ovarian reserve in adult women.
