Although accidents in the domestic construction industry have been decreased gradually, deaths in the construction sites have been occupied 49.9 percent of the total industry and deaths from fall accident have been accounted for 59.7 percent of the construction industry. In order to prevent fall accident, Occupation Safety and Health Act(OSHA) was enacted for setting management standards and detailed regulations was designed by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. Although government has been pushed for companies and workers to comply the regulations, currently, many domestic construction sites have been violated. On the other hand, in safety-advanced countries such as the United States, Japan, and the EU, industrial accidents have been decreased due to continual application of adapted safety policies according to characteristic in each country. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze laws and polices of advanced countries and apply them to domestic construction sites in order to reduce fall accidents. Therefore, the objective of this study is to compare domestic laws related fall accident with advanced countries laws. In the future, the results of this study will be utilized as a reference to reinforce Occupation Safety and Health Act(OSHA).

Proximity sensors and rearview cameras for automobile safety are common, but many accidents are still occurring. Using the All Around View and object recognition algorithm to show the front, back, left, right and bottom of the vehicle, the sensor detects the presence of a living body when the vehicle starts or parks, and displays the outside of the vehicle on the screen. In addition, the object recognition algorithm is used to visualize the object by expressing the position of the object. In this way, we propose a strong safety system that can prevent human accidents caused by the vehicle by sensing, screen, and expression.
Background: In occupational studies, it is a known situation that technical and organizational attempts are used to prevent occupational accidents. Especially in the mining sector, if these attempts cannot prevent occupational accidents, personal protective equipment (PPE) becomes a necessity. Thus, in this study, the main objective is to examine the effects of the variables on the use of PPE and identify important factors. Methods: A questionnaire was implemented and structural equation modeling was conducted to ascertain the significant factors affecting the PPE use of mining employees. The model includes the factors that ergonomics, the efficiency of PPE and employee training, and PPE usage habit. Results: The results indicate that ergonomics and employee training have no significant effect (p > 0.05) on the use of PPE. The efficiency of PPE has a statistically meaningful effect (p < 0.05) on the use of PPE. Various variables have been evaluated in previous studies. However, none of them examined the variables simultaneously. Conclusion: The developed model in the study enables to better focus on ergonomics and employee training in the PPE usage. The effectiveness of a PPE makes its use unavoidable. Emphasizing PPE effectiveness in OHS training and even showing them in practice will increase employees' PPE usage. The fact that a PPE with high effectiveness is also ergonomic means that it will be used at high rates by the employee.
Investigation of the cause of the relatively recent building collapse accident in Gwangju revealed a lack of awareness about the safety of the dismantling construction system among stakeholders, in the form of issues such as illegal subcontracting, unauthorized design changes, and insufficient safety supervision. This study was conducted to analyze the safety interactions between the building dismantling construction system and the involved stakeholders and to propose ways to prevent accidents in related institutions and workplaces. AcciMap and STAMP-CAST analysis methods were used to evaluate safety interactions among the various stakeholders participating in building demolition work. Analysis results revealed that the collapse accident during the dismantling work was caused not only by structural causes occurring in the construction stage, but also by various causes throughout the system, such as the dismantling plan preparation stage and the construction permit stage. The results also revealed the need for proper implementation of safety control measures by various stakeholders to prevent collapse accidents during dismantling construction.

As the scale of building construction is larger and more complex and the adaptation of new technology is increasing, the tendency of the risk serious accident cases is increasing now. Especially, the accident rate is below 10% at the building construction workers in Korea but among the total industrial accidents it exceeded by 35%. To prevent a construction accident, it is essential that not only to have a through grasp of the characteristic of safety problem but also to establish of efficient safety counter plan are required. According to the type and situation of building construction, the acquirement of necessary information is useful to prevent the hazard of work and establish the counter plan. Among the safety information it is a thing of especial importance that to estimate the hazard of work types for building construction to prepare the counter plan of safety. This study will analyze all of the1600 accidents of the building construction works from the data of KOSHA(Korea Occupational Safety &Health Agency) which were collected during 11 years(1992~2002) data relating to serious accidents of the building construction works, and suggest the counter plan according to the each work type in building construction works.
The study was conducted in two phase. In phase I, workplace safety accidents were investigated that happened from 2004 to 2008 in 52 medium-sized contract managed foodservice companies located in Seoul. In phase II, a survey was conducted to examine the cuisine employees' awareness of workplace safety. The survey was administered to the same foodservice management companies from April 12 to April 20, 2009. The final response rate was 84% (N=336), and the data were analyzed using SPSS Windows (ver. 12.0). The analysis showed that more accidents occurred in the age groups of 51~60 and 41~50 and among women. Forty-four percents of the accidents were reported by the employees who had been engaged in foodservice for 1~4 years. The majority of the safety accidents occurred in May~June of the year and the injuries were related to the 'hands and arms'. Approximately 38.5% of the injuries happened during 'movement and transportation'. More than half of the accidents were not managed as 'industrial accidents'. By type of injuries, 28.6% of the accidents were 'fractures'. In terms of the companies' actions, 44% of the accidents were dealt by companies' paying medical bills. The results of this study could be useful to develop evaluation indicators for safety education programs, decrease cuisine employees' safety accidents, protect assets, and prevent various worker and industrial accidents to create a pleasant work environment.

The result show that the age of drowning accidents for victims aged 20-29 was 27.9%, and for victims aged 30-39 years, 18.7%. In reguard to the age group, drowning accidents was age 20-39; 51(44.8%). In reguard to the locations, the number of drowning accidents in a lake or reservoir was 62(53.4%). The number of drowning accidents in a lake or reservoir during etc was 51(58%). In reguard to the days, the number of drowning accidents on Saturday was 30(25.8%), on Sunday 32(27.6%). The weather of drowning accidents was sunny 60(51.8%), rainy 40(34.4%), cloudy 16(13.8%). The season of drowning accidents was summer 53(45.7%). In reguard to season, two groups are significantly different. Conclusion : Drowning is a leading cause of injury related accidents. Understanding the characteristics of drowning is the first step to developing prevention strategies that may be beneficial for people of all ages and under nearly all circumstances are increased swimming ability, lifeguard staffing, providing life jackets, and public education activities.
Analysis on gas accidents by types occurred has been made to prevent the recurrence of accidents, through analysis of past history of gas accident occurring environment. The number of gas accidents has been decreasing, but still accidents are occurring steadily. Gas-using environment and gas accidents are estimated to be closely connected since gas-using types are changing by time period, weather, etc. in terms of accident contents. As a result of analysing gas accidents by 7 meteorological elements, such as the mean temperature, the highest temperature, the lowest temperature, relative humidity, the amount of clouds, precipitation and wind velocity, it has been found out that gas accidents are influenced by temperature or relative humidity, and accident occurs more frequently when the sky is clean and wind velocity is slow. Possibility of gas accidents can be provided in real time, using the proposed model made to predict gas accidents in connection with the weather forecast service. Possibility and number of gas accidents will be checked real time by connecting to the business system of Korea Gas Safety Corp., and it is considered that it would be positively used for preventing gas accidents.
