Analysis on the study for the sodium fire mitigation was carried out using the CONTAIN-LMR code. Sodium loop building was partitioned into the many cells, in which the safety venting systems were installed for the purpose of improving the sodium fire safety and minimizing its effect on the sodium loop building. The effects of sodium fire on sodium loop building partitioned into the many cells and not partitioned were investigated. The peak pressure and temperature of each cell accompanied by sodium fire in sodium loop building partitioned were lower than those of sodium loop building not partitioned. In the case of partitioning sodium loop building, the pressures, temperatures and aerosols into cells were transferred through propagation path of CONTAIN-LMR sodium fire model simulated by this study, and the effect of sodium spray fire on sodium loop building was mitigated by partitioning building. In addition, the excessive rise of pressure into cells was prevented by installing the over-pressure exhaust valve and under-pressure exhaust valve on the flow path between cells.

In the brake systems a proportioning valve which reduces the brake pressure at each wheel cylinder for anti-locking of rear wheels is closely related with the safety of vehicles. But, it is impossible for a present proportioning valve to exactly control brake pressure because mechanically it is an open loop control system. So, in this paper we describe a electronic brake pressure distribution system using a fuzzy controller in order to exactly control brake pressure using a close loop control system. The object of electronic brake pressure distribution system is to change an cut-in pressure and an valve slop of proportioning valve in order to obtain better good performance of brake system than with mechanical system.

In this paper, the flow characteristics through an industrial safety relief valve used to protect the crankcase room in a large-sized marine engine have been numerically investigated using the moving-mesh strategy. With the room pressure higher than the cracking one, the spring-loaded disc becomes open and then the air in the room blows off into the atmosphere, resulting in the reduction of the room pressure and then the shutoff of the disc. Numerical simulations are performed on the compressible air flow through the relief valve (${\phi}160mm$) with the initial room pressure (0.11 bar or 0.12bar) higher than the cracking one (0.1 bar). The numerical method has been validated by comparing the results with the empirical ones. Results show that the disc motion and flow characteristics can be successfully simulated using the moving-mesh strategy and depend strongly on the spring stiffness and the flow passage shape. With increasing spring stiffness, the maximum disc displacement decreases and thus the total disc-opening time also decreases. In addition, the flow passage shape makes a significant effect on the velocity and direction of the flow.

The pressure safety valve is very important device for securing the safety in the facilities which is operated by high pressure gases. The performance test should be periodically inspected by relate law because the failure of pressure safety valves might be main causes of serious accidents in the industrial fields. Shop test is mainly use for inspecting the performance test of pressure safety valves but the test method is not to be a solution for securing the safety. So, the development of alternative method is required. In this paper, there is a limit to securing the safety if the performance test is with just shop test. The limitation is checked from analysis result based on performance test results of pressure safety valves. The necessity for introducing the in-service test is reviewed to surmount the limitation. As a result, in-service test method should be developed and introduced to improve the inspection efficiency and economical loss. Also, it can be reduce the risk level.
A web-based client/server program, MOVIDIK(Motor-Operated-Valve Integrated Database Information of KEPCO) has been developed to perform a design basis safety evaluation for a motor-operated-valve(MOV) in the nuclear power plant. The MOVIDIK consists of seven analysis modules and one administrative module. The analysis module calculates a differential pressure on the valve disk, thrust/torque acting at a valve stem, maximum allowable stress, thermal-overload-relay selection, voltage degradation, actuator output and margin. In addition, the administrative module manages user information, approval system and code information. MOVIDIK controls a huge amount of evaluation data and piles up the safety information of safety-related MOV. The MOVIDIK will improve the efficiency of safety evaluation work and standardize the analysis process for the MOV.

The welding part of the valve needs immediate action when leakage occurs due to cracks or damage. In order to repair leakage of the welding part, the valve must be separated from the pipe or replaced with a new valve. However, it is difficult to remove the valve while operating the power plant. This study presents a method to remove leakage by precisely processing the gap between the clamp and the incision part within 0.1mm while installed in the pipe system. If the external leakage is removed using a clamp on the welding part without removing the valve during operation, the time and cost required for maintenance can be reduced.
A high-pressure ball valve was developed, and both the structural strength and sealing performance were assessed based on a nonlinear finite element analysis. Different parts were modeled with solid elements and assembled, taking into account both contact and sliding effects. Three different loading scenarios were analyzed, including a high-pressure closure test and fire and shell test conditions. The structural safety of each part was checked under each loading condition, and the sealing performance was also investigated to validate the performance of the valve.
In brake systems, a proportioning valve(P. V), which reduces the brake line pressure on each wheel cylinder for the anti-locking of rear wheels, is closely related to the safety of vehicles. However, it is impossible for current P. V. s to completely control brake line pressure because, mechanically, it is an open loop control system. In this paper we describe an electronic brake force distribution system using a direct adaptive fuzzy controller in order to completely control brake line pressure using a closed loop control system. The objective of the electronic brake force distribution system is to change the cut-in-pressure and the valve slop of the P. V in order to obtain better performance of the brake system than with mechanical systems.

The seat leakage test is required after the maintenance work on the valve seat. Either the test has been performed outside of the plant after cutting the valve from the pipe system or the simplified test has been performed so far. It was unable to perform the test at the plant site because it is hard to make a steady pressure on the valve inlet when it is installed in the pipe. This research aims to perform the leakage test in the nuclear power plant while it is installed in the pipe system. The mock-up test is performed by pressurizing the leak-off pipe on the valve body. The result is compared with traditional test result by pressurizing the valve inlet. Furthermore the chamber mock-up tests are performed under various conditions. The leak rate by the developed test using the leak-off pipe is found to be similar but greater than the leak rate by the existing test method. It implies that the test using the leak-off pipe is more conservative than the existing test. The methodology and the equipment which this paper suggests that on-site seat test is possible and the application of the technology could reduce the time and cost for the valve maintenance work significantly.

Currently, all domestic CNG vehicles have manual cylinder valves installed. These are inconvenient for drivers in case of a gas leak accident, because drivers have to stop the vehicle operation and manually close the valve. It makes difficult condition for drivers to quickly and properly respond to such accidents. In advanced European countries, they require Automatic cylinder valve installation, which has a structure where the valve is automatically shut off when the driver turns off the ignition in case of a gas leak. If this electric valve system is introduced in Korea, the safety of CNG buses will be improved with better functionalities. In this paper, in order to solve the structural problem of difficulty for a driver to identify the operational status of individual Automatic cylinder valves, an approach was made regarding temperature increase with pressure increase during CNG filling. it was estimated that the temperature increased approximately more than $30^{\circ}C$ due to pressure difference during the filling. Therefore, it was concluded from the experimental data that the valve of the container whose temperature did not increase did not operate, resulting in filling failure.
