Prefilter Type Velocity Compensating Robot Controller Design using Modified Chaotic Neural Networks (Prefilter 형태의 카오틱 신경망 속도보상기를 이용한 로봇 제어기 설계)

  • This paper proposes a prefilter type velocity compensating control system using modified chaotic neural networks for the trajectory control of robotic manipulator. Since the structure of modified chaotic neural networks(MCNN) and neurons have highly nonlinear dynamic characteristics, MCNN can show the robust characteristics for controlling highly nonlinear dynamics like robotic manipulators. For its application, the trajectory controller of the three-axis robot manipulator is designed by MCNN. The MCNN controller acts as the compensator of the PD controller. Simulation results show that learning error decrease drastically via on-line learning and the performance is excellent. The MCNN controller showed much better control performance and shorter calculation time compared to the RNN controller, Another advantage of the proposed controller could by attached to conventional robot controller without hardware changes.

  • Active magnetic bearing has been adopted to support the rotor by electomagnetic force without mechanical contact and lubrication process. A property of the control system for magnetic bearing is improved in accordance with making higher system gain. If the control system has integral part, an excessive overshoot response is shown by making higher integral gain. Therefore, this paper suggests a PID control system in order to eliminate the overshoot at the first stage and improve response characteristics to an impact disturbance at the status of levitation. The control gain was obtained by LQR design method which has the structure of I-PD control system in the state space. The PID control system containing prefilter has the same structure as the I-PD control system. Therefore, the PID control system adopted is able to be tuned by LQR design method. Finally, this paper shows the effect of the prefilter on the active magnetic bearing system through response experiments for levitation responses.

  • We propose a double time reversal (TR) prefilter for high data rate and minimum interference in multi-user indoor communication system. A conventional TR prefilter degrades bit error rate (BER) performance significantly because it cannot remove the interference perfectly. As the symbol duration is close, the BER performance is deteriorated. Since the proposed scheme aims to minimize interference, high data rate is realized without the performance degradation and the complexity of receiver is reduced through an additional prefilter design. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed scheme is improved as the number of users is increased or the data rate becomes high.

  • The timing error detector(TED) employed in the closed loop type timing synchronization scheme for an MQASK all digital receiver suffers from the selfnoise-induced timing jitter. To eliminate the timing jitter a prefilter can be added in front of the TED. The prefilter method, however, degrades the stability and timing acquisition performance due to the loop delay and increases the complexity of the synchronizer. This paper proposes a polyphase filter type resampler approach to optimize the performance and architecture of the synchronizer simultaneously. The proposed scheme uses two resamplers which performs matched filtering and matched prefiltering so that the loop delay is minimized with minimal hardware resources. Simulation results showed an excellent acquisition performance with reduced timing jitter.

  • In this paper a methodology for designing a controller based on inverse dynamics for speed control of DC motors is presented. The proposed controller consists of a low-pass prefilter the inverse dynamic model of a system and the PI controller. The low-pass prefilter prevents high frequency effects from the inverse dynamic model. The model is characterized by a nonlinear friction model. The PI controller regulates the error between the set-point and the system output which is caused by modeling error disturbances and variations f parameters. The parameters of the model and the PI controller are optimized offlinely by genetic algorithm. The experimental results on a DC motor system illustrate the performance of the proposed controller.

  • The aim of this paper is to design a two degree-of-freedom H$_{\infty}$ controller for lateral control of the vehicle. The object of this controller is to track the centerline of the reference lane. The controller is splited into two parts, feedback and prefilter. The feedback part is for both robust stability and disturbance attenuation, while the prefilter is for improving the robust tracking properties of closed loop system.   • This paper presents an on-line scheme for parameter estimation of continuous-time systems, based on the model adjustment technique and the genetic algorithm technique. To deal with the initialisation and unmeasurable signal problems in on-line parameter estimation of continuous-time systems, a discrete-time model is obtained for the linear differential equation model and approximations of unmeasurable states with the observable output and its time-delayed values are obtained for the nonlinear state space model. Noisy observations may affect these approximation processes and degrade the estimation performance. A digital prefilter is therefore incorporated to avoid direct approximations of system derivatives from possible noisy observations. The parameters of both the model and the designed filter are adjusted on-line by a genetic algorithm, A set of simulation works for linear and nonlinear systems is carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This thesis propose the prefilter type control strategies using modified chaotic neural networks #or the trajectory control of robotic manipulator. Since the structure of chaotic neural networks and neurons, chaotic neural networks can show the robust characteristics for controlling highly nonlinear dynamics like robotic manipulators. For its application, the trajectory controller of the three-axis PUMA robot is designed by CNN. The CNN controller acts as the compensator of the PD controller. Simulation results show that learning error decrease drastically via on- line learning and the performance is excellent. The CNN controller have much better controllability and shorter calculation time compared to the RNN controller. Another advantage of the proposed controller could be attached to conventional robot controller without hardware changes.
