  • The purpose of this study was to measure the factor influencing tourist preferences for leaf mustard iimchi. Among 250 questionnaires, 230 questionnaires were utilized for the analysis. Frequencies, conjoint model, max. utility model, BTL model, Logit model, K-means cluster analysis, and one-way ANOVA analysis were used for this study. The findings from this study were as follows. First, the Pearson's R and Kendall's tau statistics showed that the model fitted the data well. Second, it was found that total respondents and three clusters regarded taste and price as the very important factor. Third, it was found that the first cluster most preferred product with light red color, plain package, and mild taste sold at a cheap price in factory. The second cluster most preferred product with light red color, plain package, and moderately pungent taste sold at a expensive price in factory. The third cluster most preferred product with dark red color, shaped package, and highly pungent taste sold at a cheap price in factory. Fourth, it was found that the first cluster most preferred simulation product with light red color, shaped package, and mild taste sold at a cheap price in factory. The second cluster most preferred simulation product with light red color, shaped package, and moderately pungent taste sold at a cheap price in factory. • As people prefer to use right or left hand, some have preferred chewing side while others do not. Totally, 82 volunteers composed of students and staffs from Dental Hospital College of Dentistry Yonsei University participated in this study for the investigation of influence of preferred chewing habit, that has lasted for more than a year, on electromyographic(EMG) activity of masticatory muscles and bite force. Among the 82 volunteers, 46 had preferred chewing habit while the other 36 did not. Prior to the investigation, those with factors that could affect the study, such as, general disease, irregular dentition and malocclusion, were screened and excluded by questionnaire and clinical examination. The results were as follows: 1. There was no significant difference in EMG activities between chewing side and non-chewing side of preferred chewing subjects at rest as well as maximal voluntary contraction(MCV)(p>0.05). 2. Asymmetrical coefficient of temporal and masseter muscle EMG activities between preferred chewing subjects and non-preferred chewing subjects at rest was not significantly different(p>0.05). 3. Asymmetrical coefficient of masseter EMG activity was significantly higher(p<0.05) than that of non-preferred chewing subjects at MCV, whereas that of anterior temporal muscle showed no difference(p<0.05). 4. In preferred chewing subjects, there was no significant difference in average bite force and occlusal contact area between chewing side and non-chewing side(p>0.05). 5. There was no significant difference in Asymmetrical coefficients of average bite force and occlusal contact area between preferred chewing subjects and non-preferred chewing subjects (p>0.05). Consequently, preferred chewing habit can be considered as physiological asymmetry with normal function rather than to have influence on EMG muscle activity of masticatory muscles, average bite force and occlusal contact area. Objective standardization to differentiate preferred chewing subjects and non-preferred chewing subjects should be established in the further study.

  • Different people buy the same or similar products for different reasons. Benefit segmentation attempts to understand these differences by grouping together people who assign a similar level of importance to the same attributes. We focused on identifying market segments for knit fabrics by comparing the relative attribute preference for knit fabrics according to segmented clusters, and testing to establish if there were significant differences between the preferences of clusters. Three consumer segments emerged, and there were three clusters with different ideal knit profiles: a preferred wool group, a preferred acrylic group, and a preferred long stitch length group. The preferred wool group and the preferred acrylic group rated the mixture ratio as the main attribute that determined their preference, followed by the stitch length. The preferred long stitch length group considered stitch length as being the most important attribute, followed by the mixture ratio. The difference in the preferences for the mixture ratio and stitch length of knit fabrics was the highest between the three clusters, The preferred wool group preferred a knit fabric that has a greater wool mixture ratio and a short stitch length, and the preferred acrylic group and long stitch length group preferred a knit fabric that had a higher acrylic mixture ratio and a short stitch length.

  • This study was examined the preferred temperature and salinity of soup in various demographic groups in order to establish the desirable serving renditions of soup for customers' satisfaction and health. Temperature and salinity were measured in August and November in order to determine the seasonal variation in preference using a digital salinity-temperature measuring device. Four demographic groups totaling 530 were from foodservice establishments in elementary schools(ES: male 68/female 59), middle-high schools(MHS: 62/69), universities(UNIV: 72/67) and companies(COM: 69/64) in Seoul. Various thin or thick soups which are typically served in foodservice establishments were served hot(below $90^{\circ}C$) and warm(below $40^{\circ}C$) in a 50mL portion: salty(1.2%) and less salty(0.4%) at $55{\pm}2^{\circ}C$. The preferred salinities and temperatures of the soups were found to be 0.74%, 0.82%, 0.64% and 0.67% and $49.65^{\circ}C$, $54.24^{\circ}C$, $57.56^{\circ}C$, $58.81^{\circ}C$ for the ES, MHS, UNIV and COM groups, respectively. The preferred temperatures of the soups were increased depending on the age, so the positive correlation was shown between temperature and age. However the preferred salinities of soups were not effected. There was no consistent tendency between men and women in temperature. For salinity, men preferred $0.04{\sim}0.12%$ higher than women in the ES, MHS and UNIV groups. There is no consistent tendency between thin and thick soup in temperature. All groups preferred higher salinity in the thick soup than in the thin soup. Most of the customers preferred a higher temperature and higher salinity in November than in August.

  • This study conducted a survey to find out atopic dermatitis patients' required performance and preference in design factors to develop spring/summer(S/S) knitwears preferred by atopic patients. On the platform of achieved information from statistical analysis, S/S knitwear samples for atopic patients were designed and constructed with cotton/Seacell(R) blended yarn, And subjective wearing sensation were evaluated comparing the samples and the commercial products made with cotton/chitosan blended yarn, trying to help producing more comfortable S/S knitwears for atopic patients. SPSS 12.0 program was used for frequency analysis, Chi-square analysis, ANOVA, and Duncan test. The result was as follows; For comfort of S/S knitwears, atopic patients most considered skin care property. Atopic patients preferred simple and basic knitwear in light color with thin and soft fabric such as plain knit. The preferred style was that 'appropriately fit with suitable ease'. They also preferred 'closed front'; 'boat neckline' and 'V neckline'; 'raglan sleeve' and 'set-in sleeve'. For hem trim, they preferred 'rib' structure. Male preferred simple and plain style with 'round collar' and 'tubular or rib trim", while female preferred sophisticated and characteristic style with 'set-in sleeve' with 'rib trim'. Under the circumstances with insufficient functional knitwears developed, this study tried to develop comfort S/S knitwears for atopic dermatitis patients and the developed knitwears showed as good as or better performance in wearing feeling, fitting, and appearance than the previously developed functional goods.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the determinants which cause a price differential between common and preferred stock. Prior studies have shown that variables like liquidity, size, the number of outstanding shares issued can explain the price differential between common and preferred stock price. Based on year 2006 through year 2008 data, we analyzed the determinants using regression model. Dummy variables representing large/small company and KSE/KOSDAQ respectively are added and analyzed as independent variables. The firm size, trade volume turnover, and the number of preferred shares to total outstanding shares were proved to make influence on the price differential under the 5% significance level. Especially, we have found the number of preferred shares to total outstanding shares provide the most strong relationship with the price differential. This means that a high ratio of preferred stock to total outstanding shares leads to relatively high value of common stock and causes a big price differential.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the attitude of the middle and old age about the elderly housing and the planning elements according to the types of silver town. For this study, a pre-interview and a survey method were used for data collection. A questionnaire survey of 372 women over 45 years old was carried out. Among the data, 321 cases were analyzed by SPSS for Windows V12.0. The major findings were as follows: 1) Regarding the elderly housing, While the couple cohabitation type preferred the existing housing and the general housing, the single habitation type preferred the apartment and silver town. Some people wanted silver town occupancy due to the decrease of children support burden, the other did not want it due to economical burden and the absence of homelike affection. When they move into silver town, they wanted to take money, clothes, and photo album. 2) In silver town development, while the couple cohabitation type preferred the apartment, independent house, the single type preferred the apartment, housing complex and group-home. The unit housing sizes of them were around 82.6 and 49.6 square meters respectively. In the space composition of unit housing, while the couple cohabitation type preferred bath room, kitchen, living room and two of bed room, the single type preferred one of bed room and bath room at least. On the other hand, this study found out that it was possible to plan the space for eating and washing as the common space. 3) According to single or couple, and ages, there were significant differences in preferred spatial planning elements, which needs to be reflected in the silver town development. These results can provide improvement guidelines for the development of the silver town with the differentiation of design factors for the silver town planners.

The study conducted a survey and in-depth interviews. The study used twenty items of self-image adjectives extracted from existing studies, and eighteen fashion style stimuli collected by examining women's wear brands. The study surveyed 329 career women. Their daily situation was classified into five situations; external meeting and presentation, ordinary work, wedding and family gathering, blind date or date, and meeting with friends and acquaintances. The analysis results of this study showed that self-image and fashion style preferences are relevant to daily situation. The image most sought in external meetings and presentation was the 'Elegant' image, and the image most sought in meetings with friends and acquaintances was the 'active' image. Women on dates or blind dates sought the 'feminine' image the most, however they preferred to avoid this image during external meetings and presentations. Among fashion styles, the 'elegant/classic' style was most preferred, and the 'sexy/avant-garde' style had the lowest preference among all the styles. 'Mannish' was preferred in ordinary work and meeting with friends and acquaintances, however, it was shown as having the lowest preference level in blind dates or dates. The 'romantic/natural' style was highly preferred in meeting with friends and acquaintances, however it had a low level of preference for external meetings and presentations. This study has significance in providing practical information to utilize in fashion industry by identifying the relationship between self-image and preferred fashion style sought by career women according to daily situation, and using the results to propose a positioning map.
