Major satisfaction and job preference for South Korean dental technology students (치기공과 학생들의 DISC 행동유형별 전공 만족도 및 직업 선호도 분석)

  • Purpose: This study aims to understand the relationship between university major satisfaction and job preference according to DISC behavior patterns. Methods: To conduct our evaluation, we surveyed a group of 118 students from the Department of Dental Laboratory Technology at the college of Jinju city from August 31 to September 11, 2020. The collected data was evaluated through frequency analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, one-way ANOVA, and regression analysis. Results: The analysis revealed that the steadiness type had the highest and the dominance type had the lowest major satisfaction level by DISC behavior type. The job preference was different for each DISC behavior type, and higher the preference for stability and development, the higher the degree of satisfaction with the major. Conclusion: These results suggest that DISC behavior type, major satisfaction, and job preference are all related. Therefore, these factors should be considered when implementing career guidance and educational programs for college students.

How consumer characteristics moderate time effects on online purchase preference: an empirical analysis

  • In this paper, we posit that time-related effects (i.e., the importance of saving time) on patronage preference for shopping online will be moderated by consumer characteristics. To explore these moderating effects, we empirically examine the moderating roles of consumer characteristics on the respective effects of shopping-time-saved and delivery on online purchase preference. On the basis of analyses performed on data gleaned from an Internet-based survey, this study demonstrate that time effects related to both shopping-time-saved and delivery on online purchase preference are more pronounced for consumers who are male, young, and more starved for time. In addition, the effect of delivery time on online patronage preference is amplified by disposable income, but attenuated by online shopping experience. Through our analyses, we also find that Japanese consumers value delivery time to a greater degree than Chinese and American consumers do.

Quality Characteristics and Antioxidant Activity of Chocolate with Mugunghwa (Hibiscus syriacus L.) (무궁화 초콜릿의 품질특성 및 항산화활성)

  • This study was conducted to determine the mixing conditions for Hibiscus syriacus L. chocolate depending on different addition ratios of Hibiscus syriacus L. and examine functionality in order to use Hibiscus syriacus L., which has excellent functionality and symbolizes Korea. To accomplish this, Hibiscus syriacus L. chocolate was manufactured by adding 0%, 2.5, 5, 7.5, and 10% of Hibiscus syriacus L. powder from the 'Samchulli' (Hibiscus syriacus 'Samchulli', which has reddish pink flower with red eye spot: SKK 14-2-72) variety to a coverture of white chocolate after which the antioxidant activity and quality characteristics were analyzed. As the amount of Hibiscus syriacus L. powder added to the chocolate increased, the chocolate color became darker, the pH decreased, and the sugar content and hardness increased. As a result of the sensory evaluation, the degree of preference increased as the amount of added Hibiscus syriacus L. powder increased to 7.5%. The degree of preference for color and flavor was the highest in the 5% added group, but the overall preference was 7.5% added chocolate. These findings demonstrate that adding Hibiscus syriacus L. powder to chocolate can increase chocolate functionality and preference and that there is a high possibility of Hibiscus syriacus L. chocolate development.

A Study on Consumer′s Preference and Use Patterns of Salad Dressing (샐러드 드레싱에 대한 소비자의 기호도와 이용 실태 조사 연구 - 대구지역을 중심으로 -)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the consumers' preferences and perceptions on the salad and its dressings, via a total of 401 subjects in the Taegu area on the basis of 5-point Likert scale. Anthropometric data included the total subjects consisted of 66 females and 335 males: categorized by age, 20's (103), 30's (135). 40's (83), over 50's (80), The average size of family was 4.2 persons. According to BMI, 64.8% of the subjects belonged to the normal group. The age group that liked salad most was the 20's group, which was also the group that ate salad most frequently. The salad was perceived as food item which is convenient to eat(3.83), healthy(3.63), easy to prepare(3.73) and delicious(3.61) but rarely as a expensive item(2.44). The ingredients, used for salad preparation included fruits and vegetables(3.19) such as tomato and cucumber. Among the salad dressings, the fruit dressing was preferred the most(4.59), while the mayonnaise the least(3.59). The mayonnaise was perceived as an item with highest calories(4.1), and hardly perceived as a luxury item(2.78). The preference for the fruits dressing was highly correlated with the degree of education(p<0.05), age(p<0.001) and BMI(p<0.001). The higher the degree of education, the lower the level of age group, and the lower the BMI, the higher preference for the fruit salad dressing was demonstrated.

Awareness and Usage Patterns of Housewives in Busan for Consuming Marine Products (수산물에 대한 부산지역 주부의 인식 및 이용실태)

  • We conducted this study to compare the awareness and attitude of Busan housewives about consuming marine products. The survey was conducted from April 10 to May 31, 2019 by using a questionnaire. The degree of preference of seafood was higher among individuals in their 40s than those in the other age groups. Among the women in their 30s, 40s, 50s and 70s, the reason for liking seafood was 'taste', and for those in their 60s it was 'nutrition'. Overall the most common reason for disliking seafood was the 'fishy smell (37.4%)'. Conception degree of nutritive value of seafood was higher among individuals in their 30s and 40s than that for those individuals in their 50s, 60s and 70s. As for the price of seafood, the wives over 40s thought seafood was more expensive than did those wives in their 30s. The younger the individuals were, the lower was the perceived degree of safety was 49.8% of the subjects reported that the main concern for purchase was 'freshness'. The perceived degree of safety for imported seafood was better for the wives in their 60s and 70s than that for those wives in their 30s, 40s and 50s. The confidence level for local Korean seafood was higher for the wives in their 60s than that for the wives in their 50s. The degree of preference for seafood was moderate overall, except for Jellyfish. Age was positively correlated with conception for safety and dietary attitude (P<0.01), whereas age was negatively correlated with monthly food expenditure, nutrition knowledge and intake requirements (P<0.01). Preference for seafood was positively correlated with conception for safety (P<0.05), nutrition knowledge (P<0.05), dietary attitude (P<0.01), awareness for nutritive value (P<0.01) and intake requirements (P<0.01). Laws and regulations should be reinforced in order to promote eating more seafood and periodic research to determine the actual amount of consumed seafood and people's preferences should be conducted.

A Study on Seafoods Ingestion of High School Students and Preference -Focusing on Chungnam Region- (고등학생의 수산물 섭취 실태와 기호도에 관한 조사 -충남 지역을 중심으로-)

  • This study is aimed at examining the status of seafoods intake and preference to actively use the seafoods with high nutritional values and preference. For this purpose, this study conducted a questionnaire survey. The demographic features of the respondents are as follows: male and female high school students were 50%, respectively; first graders were 33.3%, second graders were 35.0% and third graders are 31.7%; the primary dietary-care giver was mother in 80% of the respondents. The survey results on seafood intake at home showed that the most frequently responses to the question of the degree of liking seafood were 'on average' and 'like it', respectively in order. The reason for preferring seafood is 'because it tastes good' in 43.7% of the respondents. Both male and female respondents answered they like seafood for its good taste. With respect to the degree of preference for the seafood provided from the school meals, there were more students who like it than those who do not like it. The most frequent reason to ingest seafood in the school meals is because 'I want to eat it' followed by 'because parents push', 'because friends eat it', 'because health-related TV programs recommend it', respectively in order. The most preferred seafood in the school meals was fried shrimp and the most disliked one is the boiled warty sea squirt. The above results collectively suggest that the preference level for seafood is low and the most preferred one is fried seafood. It is suggested that the nutritionists need to actively develop menu for the students to ingest more various seafoods.

Effect of Degree of Ripeness and Size of Fruit on the Feeding Preference in Some Breeding Birds (식물의 종류와 열매의 크기 및 성숙도가 조류의 먹이선택에 미치는 영향)

  • In other to know the feeding preference over the degree of ripeness and size of fruits in birds, we gave them to three bird species in breeding condition, counted and analyzed the number of fruits by correspondence ordination technique. Chrysolophus pictus did not show a distinct preference in respect to degree of maturity or size of fruits of among three tree species. Columba rupestris preferred un-ripen fruits over ripen ones of Prunus yedoensis or Elaeagnus multiflora, but did not choose selectively in case of fruits of Malus sieboldii. Pavo muticus showed the reverse favorable pattern of Columba rupestris. Total feeding amounts eaten by birds were dependent on the initial feeding amounts of fruits. These results indicated that in feeding activity some birds chose differently in terms of species or maturity of fruits, but not in fruit size.

Personality and color preference of preschool children (취학전 아동의 색선호와 인성간의 관련성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between personality and color preference, thereby to suggest a personality profile on the basis of colors selected for children's preference. Materias used to determine the degree of color preference were 24 color papers which were developed and described in a previous research by Lee & Lee. The Instrument used ot determine children's personality was Burks' Behavior Rating Scales-Preschool and Kindergarten Edition. Subjects wee 70 3-, 4- and 5- year old children attending the Y Child Development research institute. Data were analyzed with SPSS using mainly F-test and Duncan's Multiple Range Test. Results showed that among 24 colors used, white, violet, sapphire, sky blue, blue, green yellow, pink, green, red, gold, purple, van dyke brown, blue, green, silver were found to be significantly related to persionality. Judging from this results, white and violet seemed to be most predictive colors to personality. Personality aspects significantly related to specific colors were discussed and a profile of personality based on color preference were developed.

The Feeding Preference of Cigarette Beetle, Lasioderma serricorne F., on Cured Tobacco Leaves. (궐련벌레의 원료 잎담배 식이 선호성에 관한 연구)

  • Feeding preference of cigarette beetle, Lasioderma sewicorne F., on cured tobacco leaves was investigated to obtain basic information on ecological management of the insect pest in tobacco storage warehouses. About 3, 000-4, 000 adults of the insect were released in a warehouse in which groud tobacco leaves were placed on the bottom and at 3m above the floor level, and numbers of insects attracted were examined. There was no significant difference on feeding preference between the two tobacco varieties, flue-cured(NC82) and air-cured(Br3l) tobacco leaves. However, significant differences were noted in feeding preference between thick and thin leaves and among different quality grades within a tobacco variety. Feeding preferences of cigarette beetle between flue- and air- cured tobacco varieties showed significant differences on the lower position, though there were no differences on the 3m upper position. On the 3m upper position, feeding preferences were different between thick and thin leaves of tobacco varieties, and variety X thickness and variety X thickness equality grades showed statistically significant differences. Significantly higher feeding preference by cigarette beetle adults was observed for the food placed on the 3m upper than on the lower position. There were negative correlations between quality grades of cured tobacco leaves and feeding preference on the lower position, and the regression equation was Y(feeding preference)=4.050-0.683 X (degree).

Non-Timber Forest Products Consumption Behaviors According to Dietary Lifestyle (식생활 스타일에 따른 단기소득임산물의 소비행태)

  • This study examined differences in consumers' images of short-term income forest products, preference, willingness to pay prices and purchase behavior according to dietary lifestyle as well as investigated what factors influence the degree of satisfaction when purchasing short-term income forest products and willingness to repurchase. According to dietary lifestyle, the results classified consumers as 'frugal housewife type,' 'convenience-seeking type,' and 'food high-involvement type.' A 'food high-involvement group' is defined as a group that wants high quality products regardless of price. In the 'frugal housewife type,' country of origin and hygiene/safety (considered when purchasing food) had positive influences on the degree of satisfaction. In the 'convenience-seeking type,' country of origin (considered when purchasing food) had a positive influence on the degree of satisfaction while country of origin (checked when purchasing food) had a negative influence on degree of satisfaction. Consumers had a lack of perception for short-term income forest products; subsequently, short-term income forest products had a weakness of low access to consumers. Therefore, farms for short-term income forest products need to divide products into 'high-priced' luxury products and 'low-priced' frugal products according to dietary lifestyle characteristics, improve packaging status to enable consumers to check quality certificates, and clearly indicate country of origin as well as improve distribution processes and increase consumer access to products.
