  • Purpose: This study was conducted to develop key performance indicators (KPIs) for home care nursing (HCN) based on a balanced scorecard, and to construct a performance prediction model of strategic objectives using the Bayesian Belief Network (BBN). Methods: This methodological study included four steps: establishment of KPIs, performance prediction modeling, development of a performance prediction model using BBN, and simulation of a suggested nursing management strategy. An HCN expert group and a staff group participated. The content validity index was analyzed using STATA 13.0, and BBN was analyzed using HUGIN 8.0. Results: We generated a list of KPIs composed of 4 perspectives, 10 strategic objectives, and 31 KPIs. In the validity test of the performance prediction model, the factor with the greatest variance for increasing profit was maximum cost reduction of HCN services. The factor with the smallest variance for increasing profit was a minimum image improvement for HCN. During sensitivity analysis, the probability of the expert group did not affect the sensitivity. Furthermore, simulation of a 10% image improvement predicted the most effective way to increase profit. Conclusion: KPIs of HCN can estimate financial and non-financial performance. The performance prediction model for HCN will be useful to improve performance.

  • In this paper, we propose a probabilistic framework to predict the interaction probability of proteins. The notion of domain combination and domain combination pair is newly introduced and the prediction model in the framework takes domain combination pair as a basic unit of protein interactions to overcome the limitations of the conventional domain pair based prediction systems. The framework largely consists of prediction preparation and service stages. In the prediction preparation stage, two appearance pro-bability matrices, which hold information on appearance frequencies of domain combination pairs in the interacting and non-interacting sets of protein pairs, are constructed. Based on the appearance probability matrix, a probability equation is devised. The equation maps a protein pair to a real number in the range of 0 to 1. Two distributions of interacting and non-interacting set of protein pairs are obtained using the equation. In the prediction service stage, the interaction probability of a protein pair is predicted using the distributions and the equation. The validity of the prediction model is evaluated fur the interacting set of protein pairs in Yeast organism and artificially generated non-interacting set of protein pairs. When 80% of the set of interacting protein pairs in DIP database are used as foaming set of interacting protein pairs, very high sensitivity(86%) and specificity(56%) are achieved within our framework.

  • Previous settlement prediction method based on settlement monitoring such as hyperbolic, monden method were developed under instantaneous loading condition and have restriction to be applied to soft ground under ramp loading condition. In this study, settlement prediction method under ramp loading was developed. New settlement prediction method under ramp loading considers influence factors of consolidation settlement and increase accuracy of settlement prediction using field monitoring data after ramp loading. Large consolidation tests for ideally controlled one dimensional consolidation under ramp loading condition were performed and the settlement behavior was predicted based on the monitoring data. As a result, new prediction method is expected to have great applicability and practicability for the prediction of settlement behavior.

  • Background: We investigated the feasibility of in vitro radiosensitivity prediction with gene expression using deep learning. Methods: A microarray gene expression of the National Cancer Institute-60 (NCI-60) panel was acquired from the Gene Expression Omnibus. The clonogenic surviving fractions at an absorbed dose of 2 Gy (SF2) from previous publications were used to measure in vitro radiosensitivity. The radiosensitivity prediction model was based on the convolutional neural network. The 6-fold cross-validation (CV) was applied to train and validate the model. Then, the leave-one-out cross-validation (LOOCV) was applied by using the large-errored samples as a validation set, to determine whether the error was from the high bias of the folded CV. The criteria for correct prediction were defined as an absolute error<0.01 or a relative error<10%. Results: Of the 174 triplicated samples of NCI-60, 171 samples were correctly predicted with the folded CV. Through an additional LOOCV, one more sample was correctly predicted, representing a prediction accuracy of 98.85% (172 out of 174 samples). The average relative error and absolute errors of 172 correctly predicted samples were 1.351±1.875% and 0.00596±0.00638, respectively. Conclusion: We demonstrated the feasibility of a deep learning-based in vitro radiosensitivity prediction using gene expression.

  • It is common in practice to use mean squared error(MSE) for prediction. Recently, Park and Shin (2005) and Jones et al. (2007) studied prediction based on mean squared relative error(MSRE). We proposed a new nonparametric way of prediction based on MSRE substituting Jones et al. (2007) and provided a small simulation study which highly supports the proposed method.

  • It is necessary to develop the one stop system in order to protect our marine environment rapidly from oil spill accident. The purpose of this study is to develop real time database for oil spill prediction modeling and implement real time prediction modelling with ESI and server-client GIS based user interface. The existing oil spill prediction model cannot provide one stop information system for public and government who should protect sea from oil spill accident. The development of multi user based information system permits integrated handling of real time meteorological data from external ftp. A server-client GIS based model is integrated on the basis of real time database and ESI map to provide the result of the oil spill prediction model. End users can access through the client interface and request analysis such as oil spill prediction and GIS functions on the network as their own purpose.

  • Direct Write Technologies are being utilized in various industrial fields such as antennas, engineered structures, sensors and tissue engineering. With Direct Write Technologies, producing features have the mesoscale range, from 1 to 100 microns. One form of the Direct Write Technologies is based on aerosol dynamics. The shape of deposited aerosols determine the form of products in the Direct Write Technology based on aerosol dynamics. To predict shape of deposited aerosol, a prediction model is created. In this study, we estimated Line-Width and Line-Thickness from the prediction model. Results of prediction model is valid from comparison with experimental results.

  • We propose a fast macroblock mode prediction and decision algorithm based on contextual information for Pslices in the H.264/AVC video standard, in which the mode prediction part is composed of intra and inter modes. There are nine $4{\times}4$ and four $16{\times}16$ modes in the intra mode prediction, and seven block types exist for the best coding gain based on rate-distortion optimization. This scheme gives rise to exhaustive computations (search) in the coding procedure. To overcome this problem, a fast inter mode prediction scheme is applied that uses contextual mode information for P-slices. We verify the performance of the proposed scheme through a comparative analysis of experimental results. The suggested mode search procedure increased more than 57% in speed compared to a full mode search and more than 20% compared to the other methods.

  • This paper introduces a GP(Genetic Programming) based robust technique for temperature compensation in short-range prediction. Development of an efficient MOS(Model Output Statistics) is necessary to correct systematic errors of the model, because forecast models do not reliably determine weather conditions. Most of MOS use a linear regression to compensate a prediction model, therefore it is hard to manage an irregular nature of prediction. In order to solve the problem, a nonlinear and symbolic regression method using GP is suggested. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of the estimation by a GP based nonlinear MOS for 3 days temperatures in Korean regions. This method is then compared to the UM model and has shown superior results. The training period of 2007-2009 summer is used, and the data of 2010 summer is adopted for verification.

  • Network security situation prediction is difficult due to its strong uncertainty, but DS evidence theory performs well in solving the problem of uncertainty. Based on DS evidence theory, this study analyzed the prediction of the network security situation, designed a prediction model based on the improved DS evidence theory, and carried out a simulation experiment. The experimental results showed that the improved method could predict accurately in the case of a large conflict, and had strong anti-jamming abilities as compared with the original method. The experimental results prove the effectiveness of the improved method in the prediction of the network security situation and provide some theoretical basis for the further application of DS evidence theory.
