  • Nowadays ARM7 core is used in many fields such as PDA systems because of the low power and low cost. It is a general-purpose processor, designed for both efficient digital signal processing and controller operations. But the advent of the wireless communication creates a need for high computational performance for signal processing. And then This paper has been designed a floating-point multiplier compatible to IEEE-754 single precision format for ARMTTDMI performance improvement.

  • Control point survey by GPS can save labor and time and can obtain result of high accuracy, but if excessive error is contained to Control point that is used to GPS relative positioning, the error that has influence on new point is propagated to various configuration. therefore poor triangulation points that are caused by careless management are existed, a product of the triangulation points still are in many case. In order to select new point, this study carried out error-analysis of surrounding-control-points and performed selective process of control point. The propriety parts of control points that are used to verify precision is identified by means of comparing existing product with or GPS product about some control points after directly observe each baseline by using EDM. As the error is analyzed by static positioning the optimum control point is selected, the precision of survey data by EDM is improved than GPS data.

  • Recently, High accuracy and precision are required in various industrial field especially, semiconductor manufacturing apparatus, Ultra precision positioning apparatus, Information field and so on. Positioning technology is a very important one among them. For composition of this technology, the development of system with high speed and high resolution is needed. At start point and end position vibration must be repressed on this system for composition of position control. This vibration is arisen nose, is increased setting time, is reduced accuracy. Especially, repressed for the lead with high speed. The small actuator with high speed and high resolution is need to repression against this residual vibration. This actuator is, for example, piezo actuator, piezoelectric material that converting from electronic signal to mechanical force is adequate material, beacause of control of control to position and force. In this study, piezo electric material is used to actuator, ultra precision positioning apparatus with stage of hinge structure is designed, simulation is performed, control performance is tested by producing apparatus. For easy usage and stability in industrial field, we perform to simulation and to position control test by digital PID controller.

  • Recently, robots have been used in surgical area. Robotic surgery in Minimally Invasive Surgery gives many advantages to surgeons and patients both. This study introduce a robotic assistant to improve the safety of telerobotic Minimally Invasive Surgical procedures. The master-slave system is applied to the telerobotic surgical system with the master arm, which control the system, and slave robot which operates the surgery on the patient body. By using a 3-DOF master arm, the surgeon can control the 6-DOF surgical robot under the constraint of fulcrum point. This paper explains the telerobotic surgical system and confirms the system with the precision of the robot control related to the fulcrum point to enhance the safety.

  • Meridian which used as the basic theory of acupuncture treatment, is an important functional connection system of acupuncture point in oriental medicine. Yangdorak and EAV have lack of precision because of using 2-electrode method, occurring high non-uniformed current density and electrode contact status on electrode placement spot. Therefore we implemented a meridian impedance measurement system for measuring meridian impedance using 4-electrode method. In order to confirm the precision of developed system, we made an constant current characteristic experiment using standard resistor. As a results of clinical study with 18 subjects, the meridian impedance showed that reproductivity and repeatability of HT7 acupuncture point are $0.515[k{\Omega}]{\pm}0.000$(mean${\pm}$standard deviation) and $0.515[k{\Omega}]{\pm}0.002$, respectively. And reproductivity and repeatability of PC7 are $0.521[k{\Omega}]{\pm}0.000$ and $0.521[{\Omega}]{\pm}0.001$ respectively. The proposed system was stable and reliable. Therefore this study proved AC impedance method to valid in measuring meridian impedance, and also verified precision and repeatability of the proposed meridian impedance measurement system. The proposed system will serve as more effective method of measuring meridian phenomena as a bioelectric signal in clinical practice.

  • Presently, abrasive processing is on eof several methods for cutting and grinding brittle materials, and high quality in dimensional accuracy and surface roughness are often required as a structural components, therefore most of them has to be ground. In manufacturing of tungsten-carbide components, grinding by diamond wheel is usually adopted in order to provide configurational and dimensional accuracy to the components. The present study proposes the experi- mental research of optimum condition to the high quality surface grinding of the WC-Co material using diamond abrasive wheel in order to minimize the damage on the ground surface and to pursue the precise dimension by conventional grinding machine. Brief investigation is carried out to decrease the dressing is constant, theoretical grinding effect such as machining precision is changed according to the speed of workpiece. Accordingly, normal and tangential grinding forces, which are Fn, Ft were analyzed for the machining processes of WC-Co material to obtain optimum grinding conditions, 3-point bending test is carried out to check machining damage on the ground surface layer, which is one of sintered brittle materials.

An exact floating point square root calculator using multiplier (곱셈기를 이용한 정확한 부동소수점 제곱근 계산기)

  • There are two major algorithms to find a square root of floating point number, one is the Newton_Raphson algorithm and GoldSchmidt algorithm which calculate it approximately by iterating multiplications and the other is SRT algorithm which calculates it exactly by iterating subtractions. This paper proposes an exact floating point square root algorithm using only multiplication. At first an approximate inverse square root is calculated by Newton_Raphson algorithm, and then an exact square root algorithm by reducing an error in it and a compensation algorithm of it are proposed. The proposed algorithm is verified to calculate all of numbers in a single precision floating point number and 1 billion random numbers in a double precision floating point number. The proposed algorithm requires only the multipliers without another hardware, so it can be widely used in an embedded system and mobile production which requires an efact square root of floating point number.

A Study on the Development of the Real-Time G.723.1 Speech Codec Using a Fixed-Point DSP(ADSP-2181) (고정소수점 DSP(ADSP-2181)을 이용한 실시간 G.723.1 음성부호화기 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This paper describes the procedure of implementing a real-time speech codec, G.723.1 which was developed by DSP Group and standardized by ITU-T, using fixed-point DSP, ADSP-2181. This codec has two bit rates associated with it, 5.3 and 6.3 kbit/s. We implemented only one bit rate, 6.3 kbit/s, of the two with fixed-point 32-bit precision. According to the result of the experiment, the amount of computational burden is about 55 MIPS and its quality is similar to the result of the PC simulation with floating-point arithmetic. In this paper, we proposed a method to use a fixed-point DSP and a procedure for developing a real-time speech codec using DSPs and finally developed a G.723.l speech codec for ADSP-2181.

Characteristics of the Air Flow around Square Prism (정사각 기둥주위의 공기흐름 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Experimental investigation on the characteristics of the air flow around a square prism located in a uniform flow with various angles of attack was carried out. Experimental results were obtained for the angle of attack from 0 .deg. to 45 .deg. and for Reynolds No. from $2.6{\times}^4$to $12.8^4$. Seperation and reattachment was occurred on the forward face (face AB). Reattachment phenomenon was not developed in the range of attack angle lower 13 .deg. . But, for the range, 13 .deg. .approx. 35 .deg. , the reattachment developed and its position was moved forward the angle of attack increases. Pressure distributions on the reattachment face has a maxium at the reattachment point and a minimum at the separation point. Pressurea on two back faces are nearly symmetric in spite of the changes of the angle of attack and are influenced by the turbulence in rearward flow field.

  • Practical structures are subject not only to tension but also to shear and torsional loading. In this study, the mode 1 and 2 stress intensity factors of specimens were calculated by using elastic finite element mothod. The stress fields at the crack tip subjected to mixed-mode loading were also studied by usingf eleatic finite element method and were compared with theoretical results. The three-point-bending, four-point-bending, and mixed-mode-loading experiment were carried out. And, crack propagation rate da/dN and crack growth direction were examined. Also, the elastic finite element method was applied to calculate the stress intensity factors of branch crack tip and we relate the stress intenity factor range of branch crack tip(the result of FEM) to crack propagation rate(the experimental result). The .DELTA. -da/dN relation corelated with that of mode 1.
