The Life Span of LED by the Rising Glass Transitions Temperature of Epoxy (에폭시 유리전이 온도상승에 따른 LED 수명의 변화)

  • The LED failure rate greatly depends on the physical properties of packaging materials (epoxy). The glass transitions temperature (Tg) of the epoxy is one of the most important physical properties. Therefore, in the present study, various epoxies with high Tg were prepared and their failure shapes were analyzed. In addition, the failure shapes depending on the amount of epoxy and the wire bonding structure were measured. As a consequence, the lower failure rate was obtained with the smaller amount of epoxy. The safety of LED was improved with increasing the Tg of the epoxy.

  • Material selection is one of the important activities in design and manufacturing. A selected material at the conceptual design stage affects material properties of the designed part as well as manufacturability and cost of the final product. Unfortunately there are not many accessible material databases that can be used for design. In this research, a web-based material database was constructed. In order to assist designers to compare different materials, two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphs were provided. Using these graphical tools, multi-dimensional comparison was available in more intuitive manner. To provide environmental safety of materials, the database included National Fire Protection Association publication Standard No.704. The web-based tool is available at http://fab.snu.ac.kr/matdb.

Fine Gap Control Using Pneumatic Servo System (공압서보시스템에 의한 미세 간극제어 시스템 설계)

  • A pneumatic servo system requiring a fine gap control in a photo-electric sensor which is used for a LCD array detection device is introduced. The gap controlled by the pneumatic servo system remains within around 50~80 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and the system possesses an effect to eliminate undesirable particles on the LCD plate by blowing air out. The air flow rate is initially controlled by a servo valve and expanded by a booster valve, thus the controlled air pressure contributes to maintaining an appropriate gap between the LCD plate and photo-electric sensor An air floating plate of two degrees of freedom is designed and fabricated, and a fine tilting motion control is also implemented by assigning different gap commands. The pressure control and direct gap control are proposed, and each performance is verified experimentally.

  • In the dismantling process of nuclear spent fuels, the spent fuel rod cutting process, followed immediately by the decladding process, performs the cutting the spent fuel rods to a proper length for fast decladding operation. In this paper, we analyzed the chemical compositions, mechanical properties, and physical characteristics for SUS and zircaloy tubes in order to identify the feasibility of cutter-blade type in cutting SUS and zircaloy tubes. It is considered that material, shape and angle, and heat treatment for fabricating the highly durable cutter blade and also it is investigated that the round-shape sustenance of cross-section, amount of debris production, and fire occurrence for measuring the cutting performance on SUS and zircaloy tubes, spent fuel rod cutting device is designed to be operated automatically through the remote control system for use in Hot Cell(radioactive) area and the electro-driven mechanical parts are modularized for easy maintenance. Results from various experiments confirm the efficiency of this device.

  • Chemical facility system have dangerous elements that can injure the human like an explosion and a fire, gas poisoning by a leakage of the harmful chemical material. In addition to a vibration of the machine occurs the leakage. Therefore, the chemical factory requires for periodic monitoring of the vibration. But, until now, the operator has executed a monitoring of the machine by the senses.   • With the development of the today's advanced industry civilization, We are always inhering a safety frigidity about disasters of various kinds when and where we may happen. The fires and disasters to be enlarged day by day are reported everyday through the mass communication. Therefore, a prevention countermeasure about the every kind fire and disaster is above all important along the social and the days requirement. As a kind of such countermeasure, this paper is proposed about automatic transmission system of disasters alarm by using wire and wireless communication network. The automatic transmission system prevents the unexpected fire or disaster from a sudden occurrence at the house, industrial field or at the place without the human. The proposed system has the characteristic of high precision and high response speed comparing with conventional system. Also, as the proposed system is small size and lightweight, the users have economic advantage and simply install the system.

Detection of Forest Fire and NBR Mis-classified Pixel Using Multi-temporal Sentinel-2A Images (다시기 Sentinel-2A 영상을 활용한 산불피해 변화탐지 및 NBR 오분류 픽셀 탐지)

  • Satellite data play a major role in supporting knowledge about forest fire by delivering rapid information to map areas damaged. This study, we used 7 Sentinel-2A images to detect change area in forests of Sokcho on April 4, 2019. The process of classify forest fire severity used 7 levels from Sentinel-2A dNBR(differenced Normalized Burn Ratio). In the process of classifying forest fire damage areas, the study selected three areas with high regrowth of vegetation level and conducted a detailed spatial analysis of the areas concerned. The results of dNBR analysis, regrowth of coniferous forest was greater than broad-leaf forest, but NDVI showed the lowest level of vegetation. This is the error of dNBR classification of dNBR. The results of dNBR time series, an area of forest fire damage decreased to a large extent between April 20th and May 3rd. This is an example of the regrowth by developing rare-plants and recovering broad-leaf plants vegetation. The results showed that change area was detected through the change detection of danage area by forest category and the classification errors of the coniferous forest were reached through the comparison of NDVI and dNBR. Therefore, the need to improve the precision Korean forest fire damage rating table accompanied by field investigations was suggested during the image classification process through dNBR.

A Study on the Bore-Sighting Automation for Small Arms Using the Image Processing (영상처리기법을 이용한 소화기 조준감사 자동화에 관한 연구)

  • This paper is launched to get an exact bore-sighting value in the process of assembling for a dual-barrel weapon. Image processing method with a CCD(Charged Coupled Device) camera is chosen for the error reduction of bore-sighting. The results of this method by using a CCD camera and the testing target method are described in this paper. After the performance of the dual-barrel weapon and that of the fire-control system in the dual barrel weapon system is confirmed, the bore-sighting which is a part of the process in the system assembly is accomplished. In this process, the position of the barrel is identified by using the testing target method that is an existing bore-sighting method. Then, the fixing line of the fire-control system is checked by a day-optical part. The precision of the bore-sighting is required within several mils, however the manual method using the naked eyes makes it worse. Therefore, a CCD camera is installed in the eyepieces. Next, we can get an image of the sighting and the center coordinate values of the laser-pointer from each barrel by image processing method. A required bore-sighting value is calculated from the eccentricity of the center coordinate. Finally, It can be applied to adopt this result in the assembling process of the dual-barrel weapon.

A Study on the Pattern Development for Forest Fire Safety Clothing (산불진화용 안전복 패턴 개발을 위한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the pattern of safety clothes used at flat or mountainous areas and to identify the pattern of safety clothes by conducting experimental evaluation of virtual wear. Three subjects were selected, based on fire fighters' physical constitution. A prototype design for safety clothing was determined after in-depth interviewing of professionals and surveying of Forest service staff and related agency. Wearing test should be carried out in the order of pattern making, virtual and real wearing evaluation. For data analysis, technical statistical values should be obtained by using body measurements of subject, frequency analysis and T-test. The jacket is designed to have a front extension and the entire length of clothing enough for wearer to put on it over ordinary shirts or sweater. The collar of jacket is of round type. Cyber reality enables to identify the movement and activity of virtual fitting model and to find out errors or problems in safety clothing prior to on-the-spot wear test, thus raising the precision level of pattern. There was significant difference between real and virtual fit preference. The results show that the virtual try-on system need the development of a specific style.

A Study on Development of New 3-Phase Open-Phase Protector used in Distribution Panel (새로운 분전반용 3상 결상보호기 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In the three-phase power system using the three-phase load, when any one-phase is open-phase, the unbalanced current flows and the single-phase power supplied by power supply produces over-current. As a result, the enormous damage and electrical fire can be given to the power system. In order to improve these problems, this paper is proposed a new control circuit topology for open-phase protection using semiconductor devices. Therefore, the proposed open-phase protection device (OPPD) enhances the sensing speed and precision, and has the advantage of simple fitting in the three-phase distribution panel in the field, as it manufactures into small size and light weight. As a result, the proposed OPPD minimizes the electrical fire from open-phase, and contributes for the stable driving of the power system.
