  • Structural studies have been performed on precipitation hardening discovered in $Ll_2$-ordered $Ni_3$(Al,Cr) containing 0.2 and 0.5 mol% of carbon in terms of transmission electron microscopy(TEM). By aging at temperatures around 1073 K after solution treatment at 1423 K, fine polyhedral precipitates appear firstly on the dislocations and then in the matrix. The selected area electron diffraction (SAED) studies revealed that these particles are a $M_{23}C_6$ type carbide which has the cube-cube orientation relationship with the matrix lattice. Weak-beam electron microscopy observations of deformation induced dislocations suggested that the dislocations bypass the carbide particles during deformation.

Effects of Niobium Microalloying on Microstructure and Properties of Hot-Dip Galvanized Sheet

  • Niobium microalloying is effective in hot-rolled and cold-rolled steels by providing a fine-grained microstructure resulting in increased strength. To optimize the strengthening effect, alloy design and hot-rolling conditions have to be adapted. As a key issue the dissolution and precipitation characteristics of Nb are discussed in particular with regard to the run-out table conditions. It is then considered how the hot-rolled microstructure and the solute state of Nb interact with the hot-dip galvanizing cycle. The adjusted conditions allow controlling the morphology and distribution of phases in the cold-rolled annealed material. Additional precipitation hardening can be achieved as well. The derived options can be readily applied to produce conventional HSLA and IF high strength steels as well as to modern multiphase steels. It will be explained how important application properties such as strength, elongation, bendability, weldability and delayed cracking resistance can be influenced in a controlled and favorable way. Examples of practical relevance and experience are given.

  • Ageing behavior of the Al-Mg-Si alloy was modeled for the use of optimization of Al forging product. Typical precipitates of Al-Mg-Si alloy are a wide variety of metastable phases (e.g. GP zones, $\beta',\beta'$). These rod shaped particles take a role to hinder the dislocation movement. The precipitation sequence in Al-Mg-Si alloys is quite complex and the strength of precipitate particles differs with the ageing condition. In the present study, the ageing behavior of Al-Mg-Si alloy was investigated by using an industrial grade Al 6061 alloy forged product, which was a perform for an Al impeller for turbo charger. The precipitate hardening models by Esmaeili's approach were used for the analysis of ageing behavior.

과공정 Al-Si 합금의 미세조직에 미치는 Sc의 영향 (The Effects of Sc on the Microstructures of Hypereutectic Al-Si Alloys)

  • Sc has been known to be an very effective ppt-hardening element in Al and Al alloys and also to be effective in modification of eutectic Si in hypoeutectic Al-Si alloys. The modification mechanism of Sc is different from that of the traditional modifier Sr in Al-Si alloys. In the present study the effects of Sc on the primary and eutectic Si in hypereutectic Al-Si alloys were investigated with evaluating the microstructures with OM, EPMA and EBSD methods. The results represent that Sc has only a small effect on primary Si when added less than $0.8wt\%$. However, when Sc addition leading to the precipitation of metallic Sc within primary Si reaches $1.6wt\%$, very coarse primary Si occurs.

  • Au 함량이 20% 미만인 Au-Ag-Pd합금의 기초합금인 Ag-Pd-Cu 3원계 합금의 시효경화 특성을 규명할 목적으로 20wt% Pd 및 20wt% Cu의 용질농도구성비가 1이 되는 3원 합금과 여기에 2wt% Au의 첨가합금에 미치는 석출상의 영향을 분석, 조사하여 아래와 같은 결론을 얻었다. Ag-20wt% Pd-20wt% Cu 3원 함금은 ${\alpha}$의 단일상에서 Ag-rich의 ${\alpha}2$상 및 PdCu규칙상에 의하여 경화반응이 진행되며 연속승온과정에서 $100{\sim}300^{\circ}C$의 경도증가와 $300{\sim}500^{\circ}C$의 경도감소의 2단계 경화특성이 얻어졌다. 연속승온시효과정은 Au첨가에 관계없이 2단계의 석출반응이 저온영역에서는 stage I, stage II로 나타나고 stage I은 고온에서의 소입에 의해 도입된 과잉공공의 이동 및 소멸에 의한 반응이고 stage II는 평형농도의 공공확산에 의한 반응에 대응하였다. 또한 본 합금의 시효석출과정은 ${\alpha}\to{\alpha}+{\alpha}2+PdCu\to{\alpha}_1+{\alpha}_2+PdCu$이고 최대 경화는 ${\alpha}_1,\;{\alpha}_2$, PdCu의 3상공존구역에서 나타났다. 이들 석출반응은 입계반응이고 반응의 진행과 함께 경도값은 상승하며 경화능에 직접적으로 기여하였다. 또한 석출상은 미세한 lamella조직의 nodule을 나타내고 이들 ${\alpha}_1,\;{\alpha}_2$ 및 PdCu상과의 미세한 혼합상의 형성이 시효경화능에 기여하는 주된 원인이 되었다. 과시효는 lamella의 조대화와 PdCu상의 ${\alpha}_2$상으로의 용해에 따른 정량적 감소에 대응하였다. 본 합금의 시효열처리 온도는 $450^{\circ}C$가 적절하며 $1{\sim}120min$ 시효시간에 걸쳐서 소정의 경화특성을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • Structural studies have been performed on precipitation hardening found in $Ni_{3}Al$ based ordered alloys using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Tilt experiments by the weak-beam method were made to obtain some information concerning the cross slip mechanism of the superlattice dislocation. The strength of ${\gamma}'-Ni_3$(Al,Ti) increases over the temperature range of experiment by the precipitation of fine $\gamma$ particles. The peak temperature where a maximum strength was obtained shifted to higher temperature. Over the whole temperature range, the interaction between dislocation and $\gamma$ precipitates is attractive. On the temperature range of 773 K to 973 K, the dislocations in ${\gamma}'$ matrix move on (111) primary slip plane. When the applied stress is removed, the dislocations make cross slip into (010) plane, while those in $\gamma$ precipitates remain on the (111) primary slip plane. The increase of high temperature strength in ${\gamma}'-Ni_3$(Al,Ti) containing $\gamma$ precipitates is due to the restraint of cross slip of dislocations from (111) to (010) by the dispersion of disordered $\gamma$ particles.

  • In Nb, V and Ti added steels, carbo-nitrides are formed due to their strong interaction with C and N. The formation of carbo-nitrides has an important role to control the microstructure as well as mechanical properties by grain size refinement and precipitation hardening. However, the quantitative analysis of distribution of precipitates and the effect of precipitates on the phase transformation and mechanical properties are still far from satisfactory. In this study, the quantitative analysis of precipitates in austenite was investigated using the fact that the formation of precipitates in Nb, V and Ti added steels accelerates austenite/ferrite transformation. The formation of precipitates was controlled by adjusting holding temperature and time in austenite region, transformed Volume fractions were measured by dilatometer during slow cooling, Iso-precipitation kinetics were determined by comparing 5% and 50% volumes transformed at various conditions respectively. The result was compared with the calculated.

  • The effects of Y and Ti on the microstructure stability and tensile properties of the reduced activation ferritic/martensitic steel have been investigated. The addition of Y and Ti affected the prior austenite grain size due to the pinning of the inclusions. Ti addition of 0.008 wt% to the steel was intended to promote the precipitation of nano-sized carbides with a high resistance to coarsening. 8Ti14Y exhibited a higher yield strength and a lower DBTT than the other alloys due to the fine grain size and additional precipitation hardening by (Ti, Ta)-rich MX. After thermal exposure at $550^{\circ}C$ for 1500 h, yield strength was dropped significantly in exposed 0Ti13Y. On the contrary, a lower reduction of YS was observed in 8Ti14Y. The $M_{23}C_6$ in 0Ti13Y and 8Ti14Y and MX in 25Ti14Y and 39Ti15Y coarsened seriously during ageing, which could be responsible for the reduction of the tensile properties of alloys.

친환경 SCW공법용 그라우팅재의 경화특성 (A Hardening Properties of Eco-Friendly SCW Grouting Material)

  • 본 연구에서는 시멘트 생산에 의한 $CO_2$ 배출과 이로 인한 환경 부하를 감소시키기 위해 산업부산물인 고로슬래그 미분말을 활용하여 기존 SCW 공법에 사용되던 시멘트주입재를 친환경 무기결합재로 대체하여 모르타르를 제작하고 친환경 밀크주입재로써 적용이 가능한지를 파악하였다. 본 연구 결과 포틀랜드 시멘트를 사용하지 않은 비소성 시멘트를 이용한 NSB 경화체가 보통 포틀랜드 시멘트 경화체와 비교해 내산성, 내해수성, 압축강도 등이 우수한 것으로 나타나고 있다. 따라서 본 연구를 통해 만들어진 친환경 무기결합재 모르타르는 높은 내구성, 내화학성을 요구하는 SCW 공법과 같은 흙막이벽, 해양하부구조물 등의 지반재료용 결합재에 적용이 가능하다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • The effect of welding speed on the weldability, microstructures, hardness, tensile property of Nd:YAG laser welding joint in 600MPa grade precipitation hardening high strength steel was investigated. A shielding gas was not used, and bead-on-plate welding was performed using various welding speeds at a power of 3.5kW. Porosity in the joints occurred at 1.8m/min, but were not observed over the welding speed of 2.1m/min. However, spatter occurred over the welding speed of 6.6m/min. The hardness was the highest at heat affected zone(HAZ) near fusion zone(FZ), and was decreased on approaching to the base metal. The maximum hardness increased with increasing welding speed. The microstructure of FZ was composed of coarse grain boundary ferrite and bainite(upper) but the HAZ near the FZ contained bainite(Lower) and fine ferrite at a low welding speed. With increasing welding speed, ferrite at the FZ and the HAZ became finely and upper binite changed to lower bainite. In a perpendicular tensile test to the weld line, all specimens were fractured at the base metal, and the tensile strength and the yield strength of joints was equal to those of raw material. Elongation was found to be lower than that of the raw material.
