  • This paper is presenting the performance evaluation on the installed concrete panels. As a result of the evaluation, the resistance to track displacement of temporary support structure was improved and it resulted in the improvement of work stability during installation. And, by the application of new technology and the saving of concrete consumption, both workability and cost were improved and, therefore, the shorter project period and cost saving can be expected. Furthermore, as a result of noise & vibration measurement at site, it has shown good effects of anti-noise and anti-vibration. In conclusion, this process was proved as very effective for track improvement.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the external joints flexural of hybrid system(RPC) which is consist of precast concrete slabs and cast in site concrete walls. The external joint's specimens were prepared by types of joint detail and were tested under cyclic load which used yielding displacement. The results of external joints of hybrid system showed that the strength capacity of RPC is little different than RC and that the energy dissipation capacity of RPC is similar to RC.

  • The functions of diaphragms at abutments and piers of PSC box girder railway bridge are to transfer forces from the superstructure onto bearings or columns and to stiffen the superstructure cross-section against in -plane deformation. Due to stress disturbance at diaphragm, the design for the diaphragm using conventional design method is relatively irrational than those for other structural members. And, due to contribution to boundary condition of deck slab by the diaphragm, the behavior of deck slab near the diaphragm is different from that of the deck slab obtained from two dimensional analysis of the bridge, which is basis for the design of deck slab. In this paper, three dimensional behavior of deck slab near the diaphragm of prestressed concrete (PSC) box girder railway bridge constructed by the precast span method are analyzed by using three dimensional finite element modeling and using the strut-and-tie model design of the diaphragm are presented. The modeling techniques used in this paper can be applied effectively to examine the causes of cracks at deck slab near diaphragm and to design diaphragm rationally.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the feasibility of the expedite construction of new pavement systems using precast concrete slabs and to develop the design and construction guide based on the results of the experimental construction. Half scale concrete slabs were designed and fabricated and the optimal reinforcement design, linkages between the slabs in the longitudinal and transverse directions, and the grouting methods were investigated. The experimental construction was performed fast and easily by assembling two slabs in the longitudinal direction and the other two in the transverse direction. The slabs were leveled and the pockets and the space between the slab bottom and the underlying layer were grouted. From the experimental construction, details about the design and construction of the precast pavements were acquired. Finally, the design and construction guide for the newly constructed precast concrete pavement systems was developed.

  • The function of diaphragms at abutments and piers of prestressed concrete (PSC) box girder train bridge is to transfer forces from the superstructure onto bearings or column and to stiffen the superstructure cross-section against in-plane deformation. Due to large stress disturbance at diaphragm, the design for the diaphragm using conventional design method is relatively irrational than designs for other structual members. And, due to contribution to boundary condition of deck slab by the diaphragm, the behavior of deck slab near the diaphragm is different from behavior of the deck slab obtained from two dimensional analysis of the bridge, which is basis far the design of deck slab. • LB-DECK, a precast concrete panel type, is a permanent concrete deck form used as a formwork for cast-in-place concrete pouring at bridge construction site. LB-DECK consists of 60 mm thick concrete slab and 125 mm height Lattice-girders partly embedded in the concrete slab. These decks have been applied to the bridges, which girder spacings are short enough to resist longitudinal cracking caused by construction loads. This paper presents experimental research work conducted to evaluate the cracking load of LB-DECKs designed for long span bridge decks. Twenty four non-composite beams and four composite beams are fabricated considering three design variables of thickness of concrete slab, height of lattice-girder, and diameter of top-bar. Static loads controlled by displacements are applied to test beams to obtain cracking and ultimate loads. Vertical displacements at the center of beams, strains of top-bar, crack propagation in concrete slab, and final failure modes are carefully monitored. The obtained cracking loads are compared to the analytical results obtained by elastic analyses. Long-term analyses using age-adjusted effective modulus method (AEMM) are also conducted to investigate the effects of concrete shrinkage on the cracking loads. Based on the test results, the tensile strength and the design details of LB-DECKs are discussed to prevent longitudinal cracking of long span bridge decks.

  • In fire design for floors, the three criteria of stability, integrity and insulation are required for the specified fire resistance duration. Among these, stability is not easy to confirm. For solid prestressed concrete slabs of uniform thickness, Eurocode 2 provides tabulated data and specifies an axis distance to the centroid of strands to achieve particular fire resistance ratings, but it is not clear if this data can be used for a wide range of different prestressed slab profiles. In order to verify the current code-fire ratings for precast prestressed slabs, both simple and advanced calculation methods are investigated. This paper examines the use of calculation methods, accounting for the real behaviour of unprotected simply supported prestressed concrete slabs exposed to the standard ISO 834 fire. The calculated fire resistance of each prestressed concrete slab is compared with tabulated data in Eurocode part 1.2, with detailed discussion.

  • In this paper, experimental test on the full scale model of steel and concrete composite plate girder with prefabricated slabs under hogging moments was conducted cautiously and observed in order to study cracking in precast decks. Details of prefabricated slab transverse joints were determined from previous research. A test specimen was overhanging simple support beam, totally 28 meter length. Through the 4-point flexural test, the behaviour of the composite girder under hogging moments was observed. From the test results, crack development and crack widths were observed.

  • In Korea, fireproof performance is evaluated through a series of fire-resistance tests for important structures, and the performance standard follows the guidelines suggested by ITA. The fireproof duct slab manufactured by combining the slab and the fireproof material with a precast method is effective in that it can eliminate the construction time of the fireproof material. In this study, a series of fire resistance tests was performed on the fire test specimens under the RWS fire scenario in order to secure the fire resistance performance of the precast fireproof duct slab. As a result of the test, it was found that the fireproof performance was secured when the thickness of the fireproof material was 30 mm or more. In both fireproof materials and concrete, the rate of temperature change initially increased, then decreased, and then increased again, and the temperature at the inflection point was measured as 110℃ for all fireproof materials and concrete. It is judged that this occurs when the C-S-H (CaO-SiO2-H2O) generated by the hydration reaction in both the fireproof material and concrete is dehydrated.
