Analysis on Basic Characteristics of Mortar with Pre-Mix Cement (프리믹스 시멘트를 사용한 모르터의 기초적 특성 분석)

  • The study analyzed on each kind of basic characteristics in mortar to prove an effect of pre-mix cement, ultra high strength binder. The results were as follows. in characteristics of not set mortar, fluidity time was the quickest at the time of using POBSA and was more delayed at the time of using Fly Ash than at the time of using Blast Furnace Slag as a binder. Mortar ring flow and flow con flow got smaller as fluidity time got longer, on the contrary to fluidity time. Unit capacity mass was smaller at the time of using Fly Ash than at the time of using Blast Furnace Slag. According to pre-mix, it was difficult to discover a regular tendency. In characteristics of hardening mortar, the 28th day compressive strength was better than thing mixed after measuring separately in pre-mix. According to a binder's kind, Silica Fume B, C was better than Silica Fume A.

  • This study investigates the effect of the pre-mix cement to the physical properties of the concrete according to the various combinations of the binders and the silica fume types. The results are summarized as following. For the properties of the fresh, the fluidity in the case that OPC+cilica fume-blast-furnace slag is appropriate compared to OPC+cilica fume+fly ash. Expecially, it is favorable when pre-mix is used. The fluidity time of the A, B depending on silica fume types is favorable, but it is decreased on C. The air content depending on silica fume types is low when the fly ash is used. Specially, the air content in the case that pre-mix is used is low caused by the dispersion of the silica fume. For the properties of the hardened concrete, the compressive and flexible strength when the blast-furnace slag is pre-mixed are high, and they exceed OPC. The strength depending on the silica fume types is high on B, and the strength of the others is similar.

  • It is important to increase the strength of binders in order to enhance the strength of concrete. However, when the mineral admixture used for high strength concrete is incorporated individually, its dispersibility decreases due to the phenomenon of compaction, which reduces its fluidity and results in insufficient strength being created. To solve this problem, we can pre-mix each binder in advance to disperse a mineral admixture among binders, which will strengthen the fluidity and strength of concrete. Therefore, this study analyzed the properties of high strength concrete depending on the mix method used, to determine the effect of pre-mix cements ranging from W/B 15 to 35%. It was found that the fluidity of pre-mix increased to a level higher than that of individual mix due to its dispersion and ball bearing effect. The air content was slightly decreased from the result of individual mix due to the micro filler effect, which causes fine particles of silica-fume to fill the voids among cement particles, while the setting time of pre-mix was shorter than that of individual mix, because enhanced dispersion of pre-mix affects hydration heat time. The compressive strength of pre-mix increased due to the phenomenon of compaction of gap structure, and the variation of coefficient decreased by 1.69% on average in strength variation.

Mixing and Strength Properties of 150MPa Ultra High Strength Concrete (150MPa 초고강도 콘크리트 배합 및 강도발현 특성)

  • Ultra High Strength Concrete(UHSC) is necessary a clear presentation about mechanical property that is different from normal strength concrete and an evaluation of serviceability of high rise building which is used ultra high strength concrete. To mixing ultra high strength concrete with $f_{ck}$=150MPa pre-mix cement were manufactured and experimental study were conducted to evaluated on the mixing properties and compressive strength with major variables as unit cement contents, water-binder ratio and type of pre-mix cement. As a test result, it is shown that the concrete mixing time is required about 5$^{\sim}$6 minute untill the each materials(ordinary portland cement, silica fume, blast-furnace slag powder and anhydrite) are revitalized enough. A slump flow of fresh concrete are shown about 700$^{\sim}$750mm with proper viscosity. And average value of concrete compressive strength are shown about 77% in 7days, 87% in 14days and 102% in 56days for 28days of concrete material age. From this experimental study, a proper mixture proportion of pre-mix cement are recommended about 54$^{\sim}$59% OPC, 25$^{\sim}$30% blast-furnace slag powder and 10$^{\sim}$15% silica fume for mix the ultra high strength concrete with $f_{ck}$=150MPa.

  • This study investigated pre-mixed cement combined with ordinary portland cement, BF and SF, in order to manufacture cement binder, which is possible to produce 150MPa ultra high strength concrete. The BF used in this study reduces and control hydration heat. It can also improve concrete fluidity, while AP increases hydration product and accelerates reaction of BF. SF has micro filler effect and makes pozzolanic reaction. It also fabricates high density internal organization. This developed pre-mixed cement can reduce hydration heat and increase hydration product. It is possible to fabricate high density organization and to secure homogeneity. The mock-up test of ultra high strength concrete showed excellent dispersibility and workability and indicated compressive strength more than 150MPa at 28 days.

Study on the Mechanical Properties of Low Mix Soil-Cement (저배합 흙시멘트의 역학적 특성에 관한 시험적 연구)

  • In order to expand agricultural lands in the western and southern coasts of Korean Peninsula, coarse soils excavated from hillsides have been used as fill materials for reclamation. In order to tackle with the problems and to confirm availability, research on soil improvement involve mixing cement to the fine wet soils. Required undrained shear strength$(C_u)$ for fill material was analysed to be 0.34~1.2 $kgf/cm^2$. It has been known that when cement is added to high water content marine clay its unconfined compression strength increased to 2 $kgf/cm^2$. Consolidation results show that pre-consolidation pressure increased to 1.8 $kgf/cm^2$and 3.4 $kgf/cm^2$ with the addition of 3% and 5% of cement respectively. This result shows that low-height embankments could be constructed without significant compression. Since the effectiveness of improvement may be different site by site, the mix design for each site is necessary in order to optimize it. The process is first to determine aimed shear strength and then optimum mix ratio of cement after carrying out a series of tests.

  • This study was performed to obtain the basic data which can be applied to use of foaming mortars. The results obtained were Summarized as follows; 1.At the mixing ratio of 1:1, the highest bulk densities were showed by foaming mortars, respectively. But, it gradually was decreased in poorer mixing ratio and more addition of foaming agent. The decreasing rates of bulk densities were increased in richer mixing ratio and more addition of foaming agent. 2.The bulk densities were decreased up to 38.8-55.9% by mix-foaming type and 9.7-23.6% by pre-foamed type than cement mortar. 3.At the mixing ratio of 1:1, the lowest absorption rates were showed by foaming mortars, respectively. But, it gradually was increased in poorer mixing ratio and more addition of foaming agent. The increasing rates of absorption rates were increased in richer mixing ratio and more addition of foaming agent. 4.Absorption rates when immersed in 72hours were showed up tp 3.41-5.85 times by mix-foaming type and 1.05- 1.S5times by pre -foamed type than cement mortar, it was significantly higher at the early stage of immersed time than cement mortar. 5.The correlations between bulk density and absorption rate were highly singnificant, respectively. The multiple regression equations of bulk density and absorption rate were computed depending on a fuction of mixing ratio and addition of foaming agent. it was highly significant respectively.

But, it. gradually was decreased in poorer mixing ratio and more addition of foam- ing agent. The decreasing rates of strengths were incresed in poorer mixing ratio and more addition of foaming agent. 2. The strengths were decreased up to 77.0-92.8% by mix-foaming type and 36.7-74.4% by pre-foamed type than cement mortar. 3. At the mixing ratio of 1:1, the lowest air contents were showed by foaming mortars, respectively. But, it gradually was increased in poorer mixing ratio and more addition of foaming agent. The increasing rates of air contents were increased in richer mixing ratio and more addition of foaming agent. 4. Air contents were showed up to 26.0-63.8 times by mix-foaming type and 5.8-17.7 times by pre-foamed type than cement mortar, respectively. 5. The correlations between compressive strength and air content were highly significant, respectively. The multiple regression equations of strengths and air content were computed depending on a fuction of mixing ratio and addition of foarning agent. It was highly significant, respectively.

  • The high rising building construction makes increasing the requirement of high strength concrete. Especially, the workability analysis is related with dispersion of admixture such as SF for improving strength and FA, BS for reducing construction cost and improving durability of Ultra High Strength Concrete which has over 100 MPa of compressive strength is very important. Precisely, decreases dispersion because of lumping situation of each admixture and it causes the workability of admixture is decreased. Therefore, the workability of cement paste is tested for analyze effects of pre-mixed cement for solving those problems with it to this research. The summary of the results are like below. First of all, OBS is increasing workability more than OFS. This result causes that the glassy surface of BS in the OBS is increasing workability and the absorption of admixture of FA in the OFS is decreasing workability. In the case of mixing methods, pre-mixing method is increasing workability more than normal one. This result shows that the normal mixing method is bad dispersion of binders. The other side, the pre-mixing method is good. Furthermore, depending on the mixing time, according to the increasing mixing time such as 30, 60, and 120 seconds, the dispersion of binders and workability turns better.
