The results include as follows: firstly, in PTV's parenting efficacy, 'the type of educational institution children are attending' is an important variable. Secondly, 'mother's educational background', 'father's educational background', and 'the type of educational institution children attending' are important variables in volunteer parents' parenting practices. Besides, 'mother's educational background' and 'participation motivation in volunteer activity' are important variables in parenting practices of 'control/permission' and of 'teaching/learning', and in general parenting practices. Finally, 'parenting efficacy', 'mother's educational background', and 'the sex of children' are important variables in volunteer teachers' parenting practices.

  • Ideation is a process of generating new ideas or solutions using online crowd-sourcing technologies. This process has the potential to change the ways by which government agencies innovate and solve problems. Although increasingly more government agencies are implementing online ideation programs to tap into their employees' ideas and creativity, little is known about the unique challenges and effective practices of such programs. Thus, many government agencies are undergoing trial and error and often reinventing the wheel. This research aims to address this problem. By analyzing a focus group session and four cases of U.S. federal government ideation programs designed for their employees, this research identifies important organizational and technological challenges and effective practices. Furthermore, effective practices are grouped into different phases of ideation process and strategic vs. tactical levels to provide more meaningful and actionable insights. This research is an important step towards building a theoretical foundation for government ideation programs. The implications and limitations of this study are discussed.

A mail questionnaire, Professional Teaching Practice(PTP) was used to survey randomly selected 525 Home Economics teachers. The professional teaching practices examined were customary-instrumental, interactive and reflective practices. Customary-instrumental practice was the predominant type of professional teaching practice used by Home Economics teachers. About 26% of the teachers used reflective practice, and 14.67% used interactive practice. Only the number of students was significantly related to their professional teaching practices. Five influential factors on teaching practices identified by Home Economics teachers emerged in the following order: examination-centered educational system, lack of class hours, lack of resource materials and facilities, demands from the Ministry of Education, school administrators, or parents, and large class sizes.

The major findings were as follows: (1) The mean of university students' attitudes toward hair care was 18.5(out of a possible 30). (2) The variables that significantly influenced students' attitudes toward hair care were gender, school year and monthly spending money. (3) Hair care practices differed according to demographic variables and attitudes toward hair care. (4) The average monthly expenditure on hair care was 31,769 won. The variable that most influenced monthly hair care expenditures was gender. • The practiced conventional methods for maintenance management in Malaysian Polytechnic faced many issues due to poor service delivery, inadequate finance, poor maintenance plan and maintenance backlogs. The purpose of this study is to improve the conventional method practices which tend to be ineffective in Malaysian Polytechnic. The case studies were conducted with eight Polytechnics and are selected based on conventional method practices and its major problems. There are around 32 Polytechnics in Malaysia and almost are using conventional methods. The number is considered very big indicating that the use of modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is still very limited compared to other institutions of higher learning in Malaysia. The overall findings of this research indicated; poor service delivery, inadequate financial, poor maintenance planning and maintenance backlogs. There is also need to overcome less man power competencies of maintenance management practices which existed with all eight Polytechnics. The proposed system is intended to be used for maintenance management practices at Malaysian Polytechnics in order to provide high-quality of building facility with safe and healthy environments.

  • This study examined patterns of engaging in "reading in connection to writing" (hereafter reading-writing practices) in the context of two ESL college composition classrooms. The purpose of this study was to explore whether the L2 proficiency level could be a key construct in explaining similarities and differences in reading-writing practices which students engaged in during the composing process. Multiple sources of data collected over the semester included interview protocols, written products, and observational notes. The results showed that the three proficiency groups under examination differed widely in the ways reading was connected to writing and in the types of intermediate texts produced during the composing process. The students in the high proficiency group produced more intermediate texts through an engagement in reading-writing practices connected to each other. On the contrary, the students in lower proficiency groups engaged in a limited range of reading-writing practices without support of intermediate texts. This study provides insight into the different ways ESL college students coordinate reading and writing while composing essays.

  • Fathering practices were assessed by the modified version of the fathering Practices Scale while children's social adjustment was assessed by the Social Adjustment Scale in this study of 405 first to sixth grade children and their fathers. Fathering practices differed by father's age, education, occupation, amount of time with children, extent of participation in children's school activities, mother's job status, and children's birth order. Children's social adjustment varied by father's education, amount of time with children, and participation in children's school activities. There were correlations among all four factors of children's social adjustment and all eight factors of fathering practices. Father's responsibility for children was the strongest predictor of children's social adjustment.

  • The importance of information systems(IS) operations and maintenance is increasing as the costs of IS operations and maintenance take larger share of total IS costs and organization's dependency on IS is increasing. However, this area has received relatively little attention from scholars and practitioners despite of its significance. The main objectives of this study are to provide practical guidelines for improving IS operations and maintenance practices, and to propose a research framework for this area. To accomplish this objectives, the following three issues are investigated. First, IS operations and maintenance practices of a case company are analyzed. Second, the current practices are compared with best practices. Finally, suggestions are made based on the analyses to improve the IS operations and maintenance practices.
