This paper compares the English language programs of two maritime institutes in very different parts of the world, South Korea and Belgium. It will show that although both institutes comply with the minimum standard set by the STCW Code issued by the IMO, course contents and requirements can vary greatly. Method of class delivery, choice of learning tools and testing will be examined to illustrate some of these differences. This paper will show that in order to train new seafarers in the best possible way that will fulfill the IMO mandate of Safer Shipping and Cleaner Oceans, continual review and development of course curriculum should be an ongoing process that focusing on encouraging cadets to communicate in a targeted, efficient and professional way within a nautical context. This paper will show by comparison the huge potential that the Korean Maritime English program has for positive change and growth.

This qualitative study explored the causes of student teacher stress during an early childhood teaching practicum and investigated the ways in which student teachers cope with this stress. Four student teachers in the same practicum placement were individually interviewed. The findings revealed that stress arose over a variety of concerns including both lack of professional knowledge related to the teaching practice and the challenges involved in establishing a positive relationship with their cooperating teacher, the parents and staff. The stress experienced by the student teacher was accompanied by physical symptoms such as exhaustion, fatigue, and the onset of vulnerability to colds. However, the students were found to be generally unsuccessful in managing their stress effectively. The results suggest that attempts to improve the practicum environment should be accompanied by academic interests and practical issues related to these stresses and that there is a clear need for programs designed to assist student teachers develop stress management skills.

This study examined educational and career backgrounds of 180 early childhood English teachers and curricula of training courses for early childhood English teachers in continuing education centers across 6 areas in Korea. Data analyses showed that (1) curricula for early childhood English teachers consists of basic practical conversation, English teaching skills, understanding early childhood education and general English knowledge. (2) Most teachers are women between 30 to 40 years of age, university graduates with majors in English literature, English education and/or early childhood education with confidence in speaking in and listening to English. (3) They were satisfied with their retraining courses. (4) English pronunciation skill was not always related to English conversation skill, but clarity of pronunciation influenced teaching confidence.

Physiotherapy has recently become an essential part of enhanced recovery protocols after thoracic surgery. The evidence-based practice of physiotherapy is essential for the effective management of postoperative patients. Unfortunately, only a small body of literature has discussed the rationale of the physiotherapy interventions that are routinely implemented following thoracic surgery. Nonetheless, we can integrate the available knowledge into our practice until new evidence emerges. Therefore, in this review, the principles of physiotherapy after thoracic surgery are presented, along with a detailed description of physiotherapy interventions, with the goals of enhancing the knowledge and practical skills of physiotherapists in postoperative care units and helping them to re-evaluate and justify their traditional practices.

The new computer program, visual SolidMech (ver 2.0), for mechanics of materials and structural mechanics has been developed using visual C++. The visual SolidMech is organized in a format similar to most standard texts on mechanics of materials and structural mechanics. This program consists of a number of menus to perform various calculations as well as a set of dedicated graphical user interfaces. Solutions to problems are given in both graphical and numerical forms. The visual SolidMech will help students develop problem-solving skills by showing them the important factors affecting various problem types, by helping them visualize the nature of internal stresses and member deformations, and by providing them an easy-to-use means of investigating a greater number of problems and variations. This new program can be utilized as a supplement to existing texts in mechanics of materials and structural mechanics.

In this paper, epoxy nanocomposites, focusing on the electrical properties of the composites to understand controllers, circuit breakers, bushings and power to apply to the modified instrument was carried out basic research. Composed of composites of this study to develop a power unit to control the dispersion synthesis technology is essential electrical appliances such as electrical properties analysis techniques will also need basic research skills and experience accumulated in this study, several areas of applied technology. In this study, promotion and application of nano-composite material application technology power devices than conventional insulation materials and excellent electrical properties and easy synthesis and high reliability are expected to be practical if you expect that its effects are very large. Therefore, this study has very importance.

Third Party Logistics (TPL) providers offer outsourced logistics services to companies for part or sometimes all of their supply chain management. Although TPL market is increasing rapidly and drawing much attention from various aspects, it is not easy to find the researches dealing with relations between TPL providers and home delivery companies dealing with small-sized cargo. This study focused on service dimensions which TPL providers consider when they choose a home delivery company. In this paper, we found five factors of service dimensions including delivery charge, logistics management shills, partnership, and then investigated which dimensions affect TPL providers' preference. In addition, we showed that the logistics management skills are more important than the delivery charge which has commonly been considered the most important factor. This study offers managerial insights on TPL providers' prefer once which we can hardly find in theoretical and practical perspective.

The purpose of this study is to understand how to activate field training internships through former researches related to training internships. The concept of field training is the same as education of work experience. Students have experienced the skills of practical jobs in the tourism industry and could enhance acquisition of professional theories. According to domestic former researches, students who participated in hotel field practice hardly satisfied with internships due to unreasonable duties, burdens and circumstances regardless of efficiency of school curriculum. Also, they showed dissatisfaction with compensation. However, foreign studies have only focused on communication between hotels and schools. Finally, in order to activate industrial field training internships, schools and hotels have more delicate harmonization to address training internship problems. In addition, promoting field training internships must include proper incentives and must be supported by school. And also the hotel management must offer incentives to the students who are under field training internships in the hotel. From internship programs, students could get much more benefits in hotel job application.

The purposes of this research were to investigate the conditions of family life education and to develop an effective program for single-mother families. to study these objectives, two kinds of questionnaire were used and the data were obtained through 60 officials and 173 single mothers. the most frequently educated topic by organizations was counseling and mental hygiene. Family relationships and women's activity were following important topics, but family relationships was most needed topic by officials and single mothers. Concurrent education type for mother and children was more preferred and its appraisal was relatively high. for effectiveness in education, single mothers and officials both demanded more practical and easy understandable contents. According to above results, the concurrent-type program for strong mother-children relationships that emphasized communication skills, psychological strategies, and the importance of social support system was proposed.
