A Small-and-medium-sized Hospital's Crisis Management during 2015 MERS Outbreak: A Case of G Hospital (중소병원의 2015 MERS 위기 대응: G병원의 사례)

  • Purpose: Crisis is inevitable to every organization and therefore, successful crisis management is critical to the organizations' survival and prosperity. With the understanding, this study aims to draw propositions for successful crisis management of hospitals when facing infectious disease outbreak. For the purpose, a case of a small and medium sized hospital's experience of crisis management during 2015 Middle East Respiratory Syndrome outbreak was analyzed. Methodology/Approach: The detailed internal circumstances and experiences of the hospital during the MERS outbreak were identified by in-depth interview as well as the extensive material review, and analyzed under the view of the theories of accident, error, and crisis in relation of organization management Findings: Overall, nine propositions are drawn by the phase of crisis. In pre-crisis phase, for example, 'the hospital preparedness has positive influence on the effective responding to the crisis'. In detection phase, 'the mindfulness of the hospital organizations' as well as the individuals' has positive influence on detecting the crisis signals'. In crisis phase, for example, 'improvising naturally occurs in crisis by the unknown disease, therefore, a component site supervisor coordinating such improvision is important'. Lastly, in post-crisis phase, 'successful crisis responding experience facilitates the positive hospital culture'. Practical implication: From the experience of a small and medium size hospital, it is suggested that proactive system approach oriented by safety is beneficial for effective crisis management.

A Study on Improving Records Management of Closed Private Universities (폐교 사립대학 기록물 관리 개선 방안에 관한 연구)

  • The recent demographic cliff caused the schooling population to steadily decline and the number of college admissions to sharply drop, which led to the prediction of the Ministry of Education wherein 38 universities in Korea will be closed within the next 3 years. As such, the legal, administrative, historical, and informational values of university records shed light on the importance of the follow-up process and management of closed university records. Although closed university records need to be systematically managed according to legal procedures similar to other public records, there is no practical and clear legal standard for the management of such records at present. Moreover, management standards considering the characteristics of (closed) university records and individual universities' situations and specificity have been insufficient. This study, therefore, examines the ambiguous standards for closed university records management and analyzed relevant problems. Furthermore, an integrated management system is suggested as a way to improve the records management of closed universities.

Assessment of Korean Hospitals Management Using Dupont Analysis (듀퐁 분석을 통한 한국 병원계의 경영 현황 분석)

  • Purposes: The hospitals needs to generate a minimum profit, in order to perform its own role such as providing high-quality medical services. The demand for hospital management is increasing, as the social demands are diversified and the financial transparency is emphasized. The purpose of this study is to compare hospitals management based on Dupont Identity, by various hospital classification. Methodology: This study is based on '2016 Statistics for Hospital Management' provided by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute. The hospitals were classified according to the scope of care, the type of establishment, the location, and the number of beds. We analyzed the general and financial characteristics of over 337 hospitals using the method of Dupont Identity. Findings: Net profit margin (PM) has the biggest impact on return of equity (ROE). By the number of beds, general hospital with 160-299 beds have the highest return on equity (ROE). By location, hospitals in local municipalities have higher return on equity than hospitals in urban municipalities. According to the type of establishment, public hospitals have lower business performance, and although they invest more than private hospitals. Practical Implications: This study can inspire interest and provide understanding in hospital management and financial structure, by analyzing through an intuitive indicator named Dupont identity. It is possible to provide basic data for hospital management methods for each financial elements, in order to increase the profitability of hospitals.

Research on Fisheries Accounting Education and Information System Utilization (수산업 회계교육과 정보시스템 활용에 관한 연구)

  • The study was conducted on accounting information system education and utilization in korea's fishing industry. The Korean fishery industry is having difficulty in management due to inefficient management of companies, a decrease in the number of employees, the aging of workers, and cheap imported seafood. In such an environment, the paper looks for a plan to streamline management using fisheries accounting. To this end, an accounting-related survey was conducted on fisheries companies. The suggestions for the analysis results are as follows. First, the management of the fisheries industry in today's information age needs to use efficient management techniques through accounting. Second, fisheries companies need to increase efficiency by actively introducing accounting into management and utilizing the operation and procurement of funds, cost management and management analysis. Third, it is time for fisheries companies to calculate costs by using accounting management and utilize them for rational decisionmaking. Finally, seafood is the most important type of food. Therefore, the growth of fisheries companies needs to be recognized as an essential task. From this point of view, fisheries accounting is a way to generate profits through management efficiency.

Impacts of Food-Service Franchise's SNS Marketing Activities on Customer Behavior Intention (외식 프랜차이즈 기업의 SNS 마케팅 활동이 소비자 행동의도에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose - Many companies use the Internet to conduct their business to maintain and acquire their customers. SNS is used as a site where users can create profiles, build personal networks, and then share and exchange information with others. Not only do people use SNS for their self-promotion, but they also promote their services by creating SNS pages. SNS is recognized as a medium for implementing effective advertising strategies and is being used as an important means of promoting the company. Therefore, in this study, we investigate the effect of SNS marketing characteristics of restaurant franchise firms on utilitarian value and hedonic value and examine their effects on purchase intention. Research design, data, and methodology - The data were collected from 20s-60s respondents who have used SNS for restaurant visit using Google survey. A total of 159 responses were collected and used for final analysis. Smart PLS 3.0 was used for the hypothesis test. Results - As a result of an analysis, it was shown that the influence of the playfulness and affordability of information on the utilitarian value had a significant positive effect. Interaction and up-to-date did not have a positive effect on utilitarian value. Interaction, affordability, and up-to-date have no significant positive effects on hedonic value. The playfulness of information has a positive effect on the hedonic value. Both utilitarian value and hedonic value had positive effects on purchase intention. Conclusions - The findings of this study suggest that the SNS marketers of restaurant franchisors should focus on the playfulness, affordability, and up-to-date rather than the interactivity of SNS. In marketing through SNS, the act of presenting the basis of information and enhancing the provision of information through objective criteria makes it possible to experience the practical value of information. It is necessary to develop differentiated contents which cause customers interest and fun and to induce many customers' purchase intent by providing objective and realistic information. In order to increase the customers' repurchase intentions toward the food service business, customers should maximize the hedonic value and practical value felt through information. It should also focus on providing information that customers are receptive to, rather than providing prompt information.

A Study on the Effect of ICT Enterprise Executives Affect Organizational Performance and the Consistency of the Values of Members

  • We examined the mediating effect of the consistency of the values of organizational members on the relationship between the values of IT enterprise executives and organizational performance. Hypotheses 1, 2, and 3, which were set up to achieve the purpose of this study, were verified as follows. First, Hypothesis 1 proposed that the values of management will have a positive effect on organizational performance. Second, Hypothesis 2 proposed that the values of management are likely to have a positive effect on the consistency of the values of organizational members. Third, Hypothesis 3 proposed that the consistency of the values of organizational members will have a positive (+) influence on organizational performance. We found that the consistency of the values of organizational members has a positive (+) influence on organizational performance. Hypothesis 3 was adopted. Fourth, the consistency of the values of the organizational members proved that the organizations with high consistency of values performed well by mediating the values and organizational performance of management. In other words, according to the values of the management, we can improve an organization's sustainability management system by increasing the value of organizational performance and the values of organizational members. Therefore, we must establish plans that can be shared systematically and strategically about the values of management. In addition, the consistency of the values of organizational members has a direct or indirect influence on improving organizational performance. Therefore, we need to systematically derive and improve various factors that can increase the consistency of the values of organizational members in terms of strategic human resource management, such as organizational vision, core values, talent awards, selection process, and motivation. Therefore, the greatest significance of this study is in its theoretical and practical implications for increasing the sustainability management system by using the influence of the executives' can do to further improve the organizational performance.

  • In this study, an effective methodology to introduce knowledge management system into the retail business is suggested by overall analysis of examples those were carried out in business area. different from existing studies, which focus on theoretical aspect only, this study focuses its attention on theoretical & practical aspect simultaneously and tries to find a long-term & integrated knowledge management strategy. With examining the examples of knowledge management, this study deals with the fundamental conception, the procedure and the organization of knowledge management. Moreover, this study practically analyzes the knowledge management system of the company named ″H″, one of the retail business companies. By clarifying the problems, which is involved in the knowledge management process of the above company, this study suggests an improvement methodology to introduce and settle down knowledge management system into retail business company for the future. This study has good results in the viewpoint that it gives a definite direction of knowledge management introduction. However, there is some limitation such as the insufficiency of examples and the omission of documented analysis. Therefore, this study leaves some task to be achieve ed in the future.

Effective Safety Management by the Classification of Safety Standard (안전기준 분류에 따른 효과적 안전관리)

  • The purpose of this research is to systematize safety management for practical application through analysis and review of several safety standards currently in force among the statutes and rules regarding various safety accidents. Accordingly, the safety standard systems of Japan, US, and Germany were examined and a KOSAM entity relationship diagram (ERD) was drawn based on the ontology system. The ERD consists of the safety standard scope, safety management statute, safety management standard, safety management subjects, causes of safety accidents, and safety management organization entities. Next, each entity was assigned a code and finally a KOSAM safety management condition search screen was designed based on the ERD. This research is expected to bring an overall improvement in safety standard management and operation through safety standard DB construction and the execution of safety management system development.

An Empirical Study on Influential Factors of the Development and Implementation in Firm Security Management (기업 보안관리 강화의지 및 실행에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigates proper solution available for flexibly management pointing out reality a lack of understanding and interest for executing security management while importance of firm security management gets bigger. Accordingly, this study suggests 4 exogenous variables such as organizational commitment, experience of security risks, perceived benefits, partner interdependence as factors of having influence upon development and implementation in security management. It suggests IT volatility as moderating variable, which will intensify between development and implementation. The research model was tested by using Structural Equation Modeling, via Amos 19.0 analysis on a sample collected from 209 firms. As a result, the remaining variables except partner interdependence showed statistically positive influence. The implications of the findings suggest a new theoretical framework of the security management and offers important solutions for the practical application guidelines.

  • Due to the massive increase of data that should be managed, the problems in data quality management have been issued. In addition the lack of integrated management of the data causes duplication of data, low qualify services, and, missing data. To overcome these problems, this study attempts to examine the way of the data qualify management. To do this, metadata was defined, and its current management status in various view points was analyzed, and finally the metadata management was applied to the container terminal. for the "A" container terminal, we performed data standardization, and reflected major constraints and developed the pilot metadata repository. The contributions of this study are in improvement of the data qualify in the container terminal, and its practical application with metadata management method. Limitations of this study is its partial implementation of the metadata management to the company and interoperability of the metadata management for business to business data integration for the future research.
