  • A new automatic generation control (AGC) signal transmission format will be adopted in the new energy management system (EMS) that KEPCO is planning to install for managing and operating the power system efficiently under the deregulation environment. Therefore, it is necessary for the power plants to make the AGC processing logic fit the new AGC signal flow format. In this work, we compare the new signal transmission scheme with the conventional one in view of its effect to the signal flow in the distributed control systems (DCS) that ale equipped in power plants to handle AGC operation. Then we propose a basic logic configuration for DCS that can be used with the new signal format. In the design of the configuration, some practical issues that should be discussed for the proper operation of the plants are considered.

  • This study aims to develop a conceptual framework linking antecedents and consequences of online platform experience in the context of hospitality businesses. In doing so, an introduction to online platform experience in the hospitality industry was made, and environmental stimuli, that is, enablers of online platform experience were identified: information, entertainment and relation. Additionally, the theoretical review attempted to explain how customers are likely to be engaged in, and to be loyal to, the hospitality organizations' provisions in the context of online platforms. When presenting the theoretical model, a Stimulus-Organism-Response paradigm was employed to propose the hypotheses predicting positive online platform experience, which seems to derive from internally provoked cognition and affection within individuals, leading to behavioral consequences. This model is expected to be applicable to the online context, where hospitality businesses tend to adopt the concept of gamification and to implement associated loyalty programs. Finally, theoretical and practical implications, along with potential avenues of future research, were discussed.

  • Korean mobile telecommunications market is shifting from 2G to 3G service. Considering the revenue of voice-based communication has reached its maximum, 3G services can provide telecommunication companies with the opportunity to increase their revenues. As the competition in the market is becoming fierce, mobile carriers are trying to increase their profits by preventing their customers from switching to rivals. In this regard, managing customer can be a key success factor of the mobile telecommunications business by retaining existing customer. In this research, we tried to develop and test a model that aids further understanding of the determinants of continuance intention to use the current 3G service. We conducted empirical study through the analysis of 3G service users' data in Korea. The results indicated that continuance intention to use the current 3G is dependent on the customer's satisfaction with the service quality, handset, and brand image. We hope that analysis results will have significant implications in terms of both practical and theoretical aspects.

  • KORAIL continuously drives practical reforms of change and originality both internally and externally for the purpose of adapting to rapidly changing circumstance and promote productivity of the organization. Various management strategies are needed to increase its productivity, yet the fist thing to be considered is to select talented human resources. A selection of the human resource should be conducted based on 3R(Right People, Right Place, Right Time). This study empirically analyzes through actual study how the method of new employment introduced on January 1, 2005 positively affects capability and productivity of each member of KORAIL. The area of this study is defined centering on the standard of new employment, capability of personnel, and productivity of the organization. Also, the improvement of new employment standard of KORAIL is suggested as significance of the standard was verified through survey of the standard, the capability and the productivity conducted to KORAIL working personnel.

  • Recently, a railroad system has a big and complicated structure of specification. Therefore, traceability between specification need to be identified for design change management and this is many engineer's concerns. Traceability means technical relationship. This is to trace other specification or component connect with relevant problem in case some problem should be examined. Traceability between functional specification can be proved through functional analysis essentially. This study will introduce an application method of functional analysis in the case of practical use project of MAGLEV train. And we propose the guide to identify traceability between function through functional analysis.

  • In this study it is aimed to find out the relationship between the effective factors on learning motivation of the digital textbook. To carry on such exploration the learning motivation theory of Keller has been taken as the theoretical background. This is an experimental research with the data collected from 310 students who took the digital textbook class in the computer-mediated environment. It is compared and verified whether the factors causing learning motivation of the ARCS model embedded in the offline class influence on learner's motivation and achievement. With the outcomes, it has been tried to find out some practical suggestions for the achievement of the digital textbook. The results of the data show that the learning motivation of the digital textbook is significantly influence on the learning achievement.

  • This study is to investigate empirically the turnover awareness of key member working in Research & Development Division in high technology electronic R&D institute. Through the analysis of 106 questionnaires and individual depth interview with key member who is evaluated as core researcher and developer in their working project or has good results in the last 2-3 years, this study obtains the practical informations on the understandings of their professional consciousness and extend of turnover awareness etc. The findings are as follows. Two-thirds of the researcher has the mind of turnover to improve job stability and develop their career. They have an self-awareness that they are key member as a core competent person in working project and their organization, but are dissatisfied with the underestimation of their performances that are not recognized by the organization as they expected level. And the result indicates that many of them haven't find their visions in their organization.

  • This paper is concerned with a six sigma application to non-manufacturing process. Based on the comparison to manufacturing process, non-manufacturing process has some specific characteristics. The main focus of this study is to introduce an empirical case study on the implementation of DMAIC procedures for non-manufacturing process. We use a simple and practical road map which consists of 13 steps. Some fundamental rules for DMAIC implementation in six sigma projects are also introduced.
