  • Electric pole is a supporting beam used for power transmission/distribution which accelerometer are used for measuring a external force. The meteorological condition has various effects on the external forces of electric pole. One of them is the elasticity change of the aerial wire. It is very important to perform modelling. The acceleration sensor is converted into a pitch and a roll angle. The meteorological condition has a high correlation between variables, and selecting significant explanatory variables for modeling may result in the problem of over-fitting. We constructed high deviance explained model considering multicollinearity using the Generalized Additive Model which is one of the machine learning methods. As a result of the Variation Inflation Factor Test, we selected and fitted the significant variable as temperature, precipitation, wind speed, wind direction, air pressure, dewpoint, hours of daylight and cloud cover. It was noted that the Hours of daylight, cloud cover and air pressure has high explained value in explonatory variable. The average coefficient of determination (R-Squared) of the Generalized Additive Model was 0.69. The constructed model can help to predict the influence on the external forces of electric pole, and contribute to the purpose of securing safety on utility pole.

  • Vietnam CFBC fly ash has high CaO content and can be used as a solidification agent for soft ground improvement. However, most fly ash is treated as landfill or waste. In order to utilize fly ash as a solidification agent for soil improvement, the characteristics of fly ash must be accurately determined. In this study, laboratory tests were conducted on fly ash from four CFBC power plants to evaluate the utility of Vietnam fly ash as a solidification agent. As a result of analyzing the physical properties, it was analyzed that all four samples were suitable as material for solidification agent and have suitable particle size for the improvement of soft ground. As a result of analysis of chemical characteristics, it was analyzed that the fly ash of one place could be used as a solidification agent because of the high content of free-CaO. The remaining three fly ash was not suitable for use as a solidification agent due to low Free-CaO content. However, it has a chemical composition similar to that of general fly ash in Korea, so it can be recycled in various ways.

  • Background: Sperm-associated antigen 9 (SPAG9) has been recently proposed as a novel biomarker for early diagnosis of several human tumors, including ovarian, cervical and breast cancers. Its clinical value remains to be clarified for endometrial cancer (EC). In this study, we investigated the utility of serum SPAG9 levels in diagnosis of EC and its association with important clinicopathological parameters. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed at a tertiary women's referral center in Ankara, Turkey. Preoperative serum samples were collected from patients surgically treated for endometrial cancer between June 2012-April 2013. Similar aged women with a biopsy proven benign endometrium were used as controls. Serum SPAG9 levels were measured with an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method and assessed for links with clinicopathological factors. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was performed to assess power of SPAG9 levels for EC prediction. P values less than 0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results: A total of 63 women with EC and 27 with benign endometrium were included in the study. Mean age in the EC group was $58.7{\pm}1.1$. Median SPAG9 levels in the EC and control groups were 18.3 (range, 12.7-53.8) and 14.1 (range, 4.3-65.3), respectively (p<0.001). A cut-off value of 17 ng/ml for SPAG9 predicted presence of malignant endometrium with 74% sensitivity and 83% specificity [Area under curve (AUC)=0.82, p<0.001]. SPAG9 levels did not demonstrate any significant association with histological type, FIGO stage, tumor grade, size, myometrial invasion, lymphovascular space invasion, cervical involvement, adnexal involvement, peritoneal cytology or lymph node status (all p>0.05). Conclusions: Testing for SPAG9 may be useful for early detection of EC in asymptomatic high-risk women. Its role in post-treatment follow-up and early detection of recurrence should be assessed in future trials.

  • Recently, the coal-ash production has been increased by increase of consumption of electric power. So it is important to secure a reclaimed land and treatment utility for coal-ash. This is an experimental study to compare and analyze the engineering properties of concrete according to W/C and replacement ratio of bottom ash. For this purpose, the mix proportions of concrete according to W/C(40, 50, 60%) and replacement ratio of bottom ash(0, 10, 20, 35, 50%) were established, and then tested for slump, chloride content, setting time, bleeding content, compressive strength. Also the durability test of concrete with W/E 60% was performed. According to test results, it was found that the bleeding content of concrete decreased as the replacement ratio of bottom ash increased. And the chloride content of concrete using the bottom ash increased as the replacement ratio of bottom ash increased, but it is satisfied with the chloride content of fresh concrete $0.30kg/m^3$ below("concrete standard specification" regulation value). The compressive strength of concrete using the bottom ash was similar to that of BA0 concrete after 28 days of curing and the carbonation depth of concrete was increased according to increase of the replacement ratio of bottom ash.

  • The underground utilities installed under the ground is an important civil engineering structure, such as water supply and sewerage pipes, underground power lines, various communication lines, and city gas pipes. Such underground utilities can be exposed to risk due to external factors such as concentrated rainfall and vehicle load, and it is important to select and construct an appropriate backfill material. Currently, a method mainly used is to fill the soil around the underground utilities and compact it. But it is difficult to compact the lower part of the buried pipe and the compaction efficiency decreases, reducing the stability of the underground utilities and causing various damages. In addition, there are disadvantages such as a decrease in ground strength due to disturbance of the ground, a complicated construction process, and construction costs increase because the construction period becomes longer, and civil complaints due to traffic restrictions. One way to solve this problem is to use a liquid filler. The liquid filler has advantages such as self-leveling ability, self-compaction, fluidity, artificial strength control, and low strength that can be re-excavated for maintenance. In this study, uniaxial compression strength test and fluidity test were performed to characterize the mixed soil using marine clay, stabilizer, and in-situ soil as backfill material. A freezing-thawing test was performed to understand the strength characteristics of the liquid filler by freezing, and in order to examine the effect of the filling materials on the corrosion of the underground pipe, an electrical resistivity test and a pH test were performed.

  • The development of mobile applications is fast in recent years. However, nearly all applications are for messaging, financial, locating services based on simple interactions with mobile users because of the limited screen size, narrow network bandwidth, and low computing power. Processing an algorithm for supporting a group decision process on mobile devices becomes impossible. In this paper, we introduce the mobile-oriented simple interactive procedure for support a group decision making process. The interactive procedure is developed for multiple objective linear programming problems to help the group select a compromising solution in the mobile Internet environment. Our procedure lessens the burden of group decision makers, which is one of necessary conditions of the mobile environment. Only the partial weak order preferences of variables and objectives from group decision makers are enough for searching the best compromising solution. The methodology is designed to avoid any assumption about the shape or existence of the decision makers' utility function. For the purpose of the experimental study of the procedure, we developed a group decision support system in the mobile Internet environment, MOBIGSS and applied to an allocation problem of investor assets.

  • Unfortunately, the area without economical efficiency, especially the far distance sea, is much lower than that of a urban area-built-up area. It should be promoted the equivalent level to a urban area in the light of future-oriented universal service. Actually, Because propagation environment of mobile communication in the sea is greatly different from that for inland focused on built-up area, a propagation prediction model in the sea should be distinguished from inland-based one. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to suggest the propagation prediction model for the sea service as a method to minimize unnecessary facilities investment and maintenance caused by additional or new building of a base station. If mobile phone service for far distance sea is provided by expanding limited communication zone of narrow band CDMA mobile communication whose spread band FA is 1.2288MHz. Suggested propagation prediction model includes five parameters to minimize facilities investment of a base station and maximize channel capacity: equivalent line of sight, chip delay by PN code, antenna altitude, power of base station and gain of antennas. Finally, suggested propagation prediction model is simulated and, the results are examined for its utility by comparing with loss of free space.

  • This study developed a high-utility type of vinegar from Rubus coreanus by optimizing its fermentation conditions. In the alcohol fermentation process, the optimal conditions for the maximization of the alcohol contents were an initial sugar concentration of 15 $^{\circ}Brix$, a temperature of $30^{\circ}C$ and 4 days. The optimal conditions for the acetic acid fermentation were 9 days of fermentation at $30^{\circ}C$ and 200 rpm, with 6% alcohol and 2% initial acidity. The sucrose, fructose, and glucose contents were 952.90, 491.01, and 386.62 mg%, respectively. The free organic acids were acetic, malic, succinic, malonic, oxalic, and lactic acids. The total free amino acid content was 104.33 ${\mu}g/mL$, with alanine, glutamic acid, ${\gamma}$-amino-N-butyric acid, and o-phospho-ethanolamine as the major amino acids. The K, Na, and Mg contents were 1,686.10, 172.50, and 69.33 ppm, respectively. The total phenolic and anthocyanin contents were 25.19 and 80.71 mg/100 mL, respectively. The DPPH- and $ABTS^{.+}$ radical scavenging activities were approximately 65 and 94%, respectively. Moreover, the vinegar's ${\beta}$-carotene bleaching activity and reducing power showed that it had strong anti-oxidant properties. These results show that Rubus coreanus vinegar has anti-oxidant properties and may be used as functional food.

  • Siloxane, organo-silicon compound, is used in the various forms of products such as cosmetics and detergents due to its quality physical chemistry attributes. Siloxane included in landfill gas which is caused in the process of decomposing of such products after landfill has imposed negative impacts on the operation of landfill gas utility facilities. The objective of this study was to investigate the siloxane production characteristics depending on the features of various landfill site in Korea so that the analysis was made on the landfilling age and landfill waste by in terms of its concentration, structure and composition. As for the concentration of siloxane depending on time passage, 12 landfill sites were reviewed by landfilling age. As for production attributes change of siloxane by landfill wastes, the source of wastes, physical production ration and siloxane concentration were compared in 6 landfills. The average concentration of total-siloxane within LFG is $6.75mg/m^3$ and cyclic-siloxane out of it occupies over 93%. By element, D4 and D5 in order take the highest proportion regardless of total-siloxane concentration and landfilling age. Even though this study is not able to verify the different impact of each kind of wastes on the generation of siloxane, it is confirmed that total-siloxane and cyclic-siloxane decrease in line with the increase of landfilling age as it does in the first order decay model for landfill gas.
