An energy efficient clustering scheme by adjusting group size in zigbee environment (Zigbee 환경에서 그룹 크기 조정에 의한 에너지 효율적인 클러스터링 기법)

  • The wireless sensor networks have been extensively researched. One of the issues in wireless sensor networks is a developing energy-efficient clustering protocol. Clustering algorithm provides an effective way to extend the lifetime of a wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we proposed an energy efficient clustering scheme by adjusting group size. In sensor network, the power consumption in data transmission between sensor nodes is strongly influenced by the distance of two nodes. And cluster size, that is the number of cluster member nodes, is also effected on energy consumption. Therefore we proposed the clustering scheme for high energy efficiency of entire sensor network by controlling cluster size according to the distance between cluster header and sink.

A Study on the Droplet Size Distribution of Ultra High Pressure Diesel Spray on Electronic Hydraulic Fuel Injection System (전자유압식 분사계에 의한 초고압 디젤분무의 입경분포에 관한 연구)

  • In order to investigate the droplet size distribution and Sauter Mean Diameter in a ultra high pressure diesel spray, fuel was injected with ultra high pressure into the environments of high pressure and room temperature by an Electronic Hydraulic Fuel Injection System. Droplet size was measured with the immersion liquid sampling technique. The immersion liquid was used a mixture of water-methycellulose solution and ethanol. The Sauter Mean Diameter decreased with increasing injection pressure, with a decrease environmental pressure (back pressure) and nozzle diameter. Increasing the injection pressure makes the fuel density distribution of the spray more homogeneous. An empirical correlation was developed among injection pressure, air density, nozzle diameter and the Sauter Mean Diameter of spray droplets.

Mineralogical Properties of Bottom Ash Stored in Pond Site of Hadong Power Plant (하동 화력발전소에 저장된 Bottom ash의 광물학적 물성)

  • Significant amount of bottom ash has been stored in the pond site of Hadong coal power plant located at southeast region of Korea. In order to address strong environmental regulation that is going to be enforced in the near future, it is necessary to consume waste bottom ash stored in the pond site in a sustainable manner. In this research, the chemical and mineral characteristics of various sized bottom ash samples from Hadong coal power plant were analyzed using XRF, XRD, and particle size analyzer. According to the experimental results, the chemical compositions of bottom ash was slightly changed in terms of Al and Fe content. As the size of the bottom ash increased, cristobalite was observed as a result of crystallization. The mineralogical composition and its size distribution of powder type bottom ash indicated that significant amount of fly ash is included together with small sized bottom ash.

Development of Environmentally Friendly Aqueous Cleanser by Emulsification of D-Limonene (D-Limonene 유화공정에 의한 환경친화성 수성세정제 개발)

  • For the purpose of development of an environmentally friendly aqueous cleanser, some experimental researches on emulsification of D-limonene were performed. OA series surfactants with different molecular weight were adapted as an emulsifier for preparation of O/W emulsion. Cleaning power of aqueous cleanser was measured by a dipping method adapting abietic acid(AA) as a solubilizate. Besides, drop size and drop size distribution, contact angle and storage stability of the aqueous cleansers were also measured and relationships among them were examined. Decrease in molecular weight of surfactant induced small drop size and contact angie, resulting in high cleaning power of aqueous cleanser. Aqueous cleanser consisted of 3wt.% OA300 and 30wt.% D-limonene showed the highest cleaning power, but displayed unfortunately with low storage stability. The storage stability of the aqueous cleanser with OA300 was significantly enhanced by addition of 0.5wt.% OA600 at the expanse of decrease in cleaning power.

  • In modern times, threat of high power electromagnetic wave is increasing. When the electrical grid and communication network are attacked by these high power electromagnetic wave, the whole infrastructure is paralyzed. To protect the infrastructure from these high power electromagnetic wave threat, the shielding facility that can block high power electromagnetic wave is constructed. Also shielding effectiveness evaluation about the constructed facility is important. But, because of space efficiency and saving of construction cost to construct the actual shielding facility, the shielding room wall is generally adjacent to exterior concrete structures. As space between shielding facility wall and concrete structures is very small, arranging the transmitting antenna exterior shielding facility is realistically difficult. Therefore, in this research, The shielding effectiveness measurement plan in the state of exterior narrow space of HEMP shielding facility is presented. And to apply this plan, The influence of shielding effectiveness according to the size of the shielding facility is analyzed.

  • In this paper, first, we proposed various possible candidate schemes for determining initial sleep window size and varying sleep window size in sleep mode for power saving class I of IEEE 802.16e. Then, we analyzed and compared the power saving performances of those schemes. The schemes used for the comparisons are EICV of IEEE 802.16e, and other comparable schemes such as EIED, EILD, LIED and LILD. Experimental results show that LILD and EIED outperform other comparable schemes. Especially, EIED shows the better performances for the case of high traffic intensity environments, while LILD does for the low traffic intensity case.

Numerical simulation Analysis of Tip Clearance Flow in a Centrifugal Compressor

  • In order to research the relationship between the tip clearance and leakage flow of centrifugal compressor, a high speed centrifugal compressor was investigated by using CFD. A numerical study on the effect of four different rotor tip clearance sizes of centrifugal compressor, which were 0.5times, 1 times, 1.5times and 2.0times of the design tip clearance, was carried out. Efficiency and pressure ratio curves were obtained under different mass flow. The reasons of the clearance vortex and the factors of vortex size were analyzed. The result indicated that with the increase of tip clearance size, the performance of the compressor changed obviously, the performance parameters such as efficiency and pressure ratio tended to decrease obviously. While, the leakage flow does not always lead to leak vortex. The strength of the vortex increased with the tip clearance. The size of leak vortex was affected by the pressure difference between the suction side and the pressure side of blade tip.

  • The Physical and magnetic properties such as microstructure, permeability and power loss of Ni-Zn ferrite with composition of $Ni_{0.8}Zn_{0.2}Fe_2O_4$, were investigated as the function of $Bi_2O_3$ and CaO contents. The power loss increased in proportion to the amount of $Bi_2O_3$ up to 0.3 wt% but it decreased over than 0.3 wt% addition. The highest permeability of 134 was obtained to the specimen added 1.0 wt% $Bi_2O_3$ since $Bi_2O_3$ contents were strongly dominant to grain growth and size than that of CaO. $Bi_2O_3$ liquid phase created during sintering process promoted sintering and grain growth so that grain size and permeability increased compared to that of the specimens which were sintered with free-additive and CaO. Also, lots of pores existed in the specimen which was added $Bi_2O_3$ wt% with the biggest grain size.

  • This paper proposes the hybrid proportional integral(HBPI) controller for maximum power point tracking(MPPT) control of photovoltaic system. The output characteristics of the solar cell are a nonlinear and affected by a temperature, the solar radiation and influence of a shadow. The MPPT control is a very important technique in order to increase an output and efficiency of the photovoltaic system. The conventional constant voltage(CV), perturbation and observation(PO) and incremental conductance(IC) are the method which finding maximum power point(MPP) by the continued self-excitation vibration, and uses the fixed step size. If the fixed step size is a large, the tracking speed of maximum power point is faster, but the tracking accuracy in the steady state is decreased. On the contrary, when the fixed step size is a small, the tracking accuracy is increased and the tracking speed is slower. Therefore, in order to solve these problems, this paper proposes HBPI controller that is adjusted gain of conventional PI control using fuzzy control, and the maximum power point tracks using this controller. The validity of the controller proposed in this paper proves through the results of the comparisons.

Growth Behavior of Nanocrystalline CrN Coatings by Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) Assisted Magnetron Sputtering (유도결합 플라즈마를 이용한 마그네트론 스퍼터링으로 증착된 나노결정질 CrN 코팅막의 성장)

  • Nanocrystalline CrN coatings were deposited by DC and ICP-assisted magnetron sputtering on Si (100) substrates. The influences of the ICP power on the microstructural and crystallographic properties of the coatings were investigated. For the generation of the ICP, radio frequency was applied using a dielectric-encapsulated coil antenna installed inside the deposition chamber. As the ICP power increased from 0 to 500W, the crystalline grain size decreased. It is believed that the decrease in the crystal grain size at higher ICP powers is due to resputtering of the coatings as a result of ion bombardment as well as film densification. The preferential orientation of CrN coatings changed from (111) to (200) with an increase in the ICP power. The ICP magnetron sputtering CrN coatings showed excellent surface roughness compared to the DC magnetron sputtering coatings.
