Computational investigation was conducted to examine the performance of a high pressure common-rail fuel injection system which is used to power a passenger car direct injection (Dl) diesel engine. The pipe flows were modeled by one dimensional wave equation and solved by implicit FDM Each volume of injector was considered as chambers with orifice nozzle in connections. These simulation results were compared with the experimental data of Ganser Hydromag. The comparison of needle life and rate of injection between simulation data and experimental data showed quite a good agreement Different shape of injection rate can be made by adjusting the size of inlet orifice and exit orifice in the piston chamber The pilot injection was accomplished by adjusting command signal.
In this paper, we consider feedback-linearizing control of VR (Variable Reluctance) motors which have been increasingly used in high performance direct-drive applications. We characterize all torque controllers that can make the generated torque of a VR motor linear to torque command but without torque ripple. The torque controlles maximize the range of torque commands which are admissible under the physical limitation in stator currents. The whole class of all such torque controllers is parameterized in the explicit form which contains a function to be chosen freely. This free function can be used to achieve other control objectives as well as linear dynamic characteristics. As the examples for optimal choices of the free function, we actually determine two optimal free functions, one for minimal rate of change in current commands and the other for minimal power loss due to stator resistance. To illuminate further the practical use of torque controllers proposed in this paper, we present some experimental results for the case of a commercially available VR motor.
ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff in developing an WMA-EA(Warfighting Mission Area-Enterprise Architecture) tries to create the practical buildup requirements of military power through precise requirements and operational capabilities based on the architectures. However, it is difficult to verify the effectiveness of target architectures and do efficient requirement planning because we cannot know the gap of quantitative combat effectiveness between current and target WMA-EAs. This study presents an evaluation method of combat effectiveness and focuses on combat's positive effects in WMA-EAs. The method proposed is based on C2 model which is appropriate for the evaluation of combat effectiveness in architectures. We verify the effectiveness of the proposed method through a case study of an anti-ship warfare architecture.
We present voltage-source inverter for variable speed of washing machine. In the case of previous washing machines only on/off contol of motor was satisfied but these days the desire of customers moves to more silent and energy saving machine. Therefore many white goods manufacturers consider variable driving methods of motor. Nowadays variable speed Induction motors powered by inverters are becoming more and more popular. In this paper the principles of constant V/F control of Induction motor used in washing machine and space vector PWM technique are reviewd. Implementation issues such as command voltage generation, switching pattern determination, speed and power measurement are also presented. Experimental results are included in the end of the paper.

A new modified command voltage of the third harmonics injected PWM inverter is proposed in overmodulation mode. By analyzing the relationship between the modulation index and the peak of the fundamental component of the modified reference voltage, we can settle the problem in over modulation mode without iteration. Then we can increase the maximum fundamental component of the third harmonic injected PWM inverter comparative to six-step inverter continuously in over modulation mode.
A heat dissipation modeling method of EEE parts, or semi-empirical heat dissipation method, is developed for thermal design and analysis an electronic equipment of geostationary satellite. The power consumption measurement value of each functional breadboard is used for the heat dissipation modeling method. For the purpose of conduction heat transfer modeling of EEE parts, surface heat model using very thin ignorable thermal plates is developed instead of conventional lumped capacity nodes. The thermal plates are projected to the printed circuit board and can be modeled and modified easily by numerically preprocessing programs according to design changes. These modeling methods are applied to the thermal design and analysis of CTU (Command and Telemetry Unit) and verified by thermal cycling and vacuum tests.
Recently, Bluetooth has been regarded as a new technology for short-range wireless connection. Although initial application of Bluetooth technology has been focused mainly on replacing cables between hand-held devices due to a limited packet size and short-range, general wireless telecommunication such as PAN and Ad hoc networks via Bluetooth-equipped devices is expected to be one of the most popular applications. Wireless equipments have been used to exchange data between host and mobile unit. The exchanging data may be several bytes of control command and the value of sensors with ultra-sonic, vision sensor, and encoder from mobile robot. However, most wireless equipments have some drawbacks such as lack of authentication, large size and high price. On the other hand, the benefits of Bluetooth are small size, low power, low price except short-range. Especially, there are some difficulties when wireless modules are used in indoor environments. In this paper, a method of using wire network in Bluetooth network is investigated as a solution to overcome the short-range problem of Bluetooth and difficulty in indoor environment.
When operating in frequency-division duplex (FDD) mode, transmit beamforming in multiple-input single-output (MISO) wireless communication systems typically requires accurate knowledge of downlink channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter. In practical FDD systems, obtaining such downlink CSI at the transmitter is challenging, if not impractical. To circumvent such challenge and support user mobility, we present a new method for transmit beamforming based on simple beam-control commands (BCCs) in MISO FDD mobile systems. We then numerically evaluate the effects of BCC errors in terms of transmit power efficiency, system capacity, and outage probability.
Generally, speed control system is used to control the elevator door. The whole speed profile must be installed in the speed controller of the door control system. However, it is not easy to modify the speed profile when door opening size and time are changed. In this paper, the making speed profile is discussed by the door opening size and time. The position control algorithms of PMSM for elevator door system are compared with general speed control, position control method with speed controller, and position control with speed command feedforward compensation by simulation using MATLAB/SIMULINK.
The structure of satellite was of six parts of control system, power system, thermal control system, remote measurement command system, propellant system and thrust system. In these parts, propellant system consists of propellant tank and thrust device. What we want to perform is optimum design to minimaize the weight of propellant tank. In order to design optimal propellant tank, several parameters should be adopted form the tank geometry like the relative location of the lug and variation of the wall thickness. So the analysis was executed by finite element analysis for finding optimal design parameters. The structure was devided into 3 parts, the initial thickness zone, the transitional zone, and the weak zone, whose effects on the pressure vessel strength was investigated. Finally the optimal lug location and the three zone thickness were obtained and the weight was compared with the uniform thickness vessel.
