This paper proposes a stochastic modeling of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) distribution in power systems, and analyzes the corresponding clustering characteristic. It is essential for power utilities to estimate the PEV charging demand as the penetration level of PEV is expected to increase rapidly in the near future. Although the distribution of PEVs in power systems is the primary factor for estimating the PEV charging demand, the data currently available are statistics related to fuel-driven vehicles and to existing electric demands in power systems. In this paper, we calculate the number of households using electricity at individual ending buses of a power system based on the electric demands. Then, we estimate the number of PEVs per household using the probability density function of PEVs derived from the given statistics about fuel-driven vehicles. Finally, we present the clustering characteristic of the PEV distribution via case studies employing the test systems.
In Korea Electric Power Corporation (or KEPCO), several Demand-Side Management (or DSM) program have been carried out to effectively meet electric power demand at least costs by modifying customers electricity use patterns. As one of them, KEPCO applies low-priced night thermal-storage power service for heat appliances to facilitate efficient use of power facilities by shifting relatively high daytime demands to night hours to build loads during the off-peak periods. In the market of heat-storage type water-heater, electric water-heater has been mostly used, but it has low energy efficiency and needs high capacity electric equipments. So in order to replace these electric water heaters, 15 HP air-source heat pump water heater is developed in Korea Electric Research Institute (or KEPRI). This paper shows that measurement system for performance testing of heat pump water heater is established and heating capacity and performance is analyzed and measured for out-door environmental change.
Electrical energy is playing an increasingly vital role as the primary energy source in everyday life. With the increase in electric power consumption, power facilities are under an increasing stress and must operate at a high capacity. Consequently, the demand for electric power cables in power transmission and distribution lines is rapidly increasing. Underground distribution lines have been steadily replacing the aboveground lines owing to the increase in electric power demand and the need to increase the supply voltage. In addition to line damage, worker safety is of primary concern in this type of underground infrastructure. In this study, to improve the safety of workers dealing with underground transmission lines, we analyzed the electromagnetic field generated around the distribution line and determined the basic criteria for developing a device that can detect a live underground line.
This paper deals with the grid-interactive small battery energy storage system, which aims at the integration o( power quality improvement and demand side management. The main purpose of the proposed system is to achieve the peak power cutting and to compensate the current harmonics and reactive power at the point of installation on power distribution for residential homes. paper deals with the grid-interactive small battery energy storage system, In this paper, the basic principle and control algorithm is analyzed, theoretically and the design methodology of the system is discussed. To verify the proposed system, a comprehensive evaluation with theoretical analysis, simulation and experimental results for 1 KVA load capacity is presented.
Recently, According to increase of power demand, it was increased a demand that switching power supply have characteristic of low-loss and high-efficiency. So increase of using device, the failure rate increases and service life problem arises. Even though normal circuit protection is applied in designing stage, it is often hard to identify the cause of malfunction in certain cases such as fatigued power supply due to over-running, malfunctions of main elements or over heating. This report will cover experimental results with the prototype we made, that monitors the efficiency of switching power supply and that protects a circuit when it drops below the standard value.
Wind farm which are composed with wind turbine generators can be a good alternatives to solve environmental problem and solutions to cope with energy crisis for using wind energy. Until now, these wind turbine generators have been being studied on the viewpoint of only active power control for reducing the burden of main grid. In this control scheme, we might demand a reactive power compensator in order to make reparation for the reactive power produced from wind turbine generator itself. Therefore, if the reactive power as well as active power of wind turbine generator were controlled according to the demand of reactive power, the installation of a additional reactive power compensator could be reduced. This paper presents the control method of a active and reactive power for wind turbine generators by means of SVPWM(Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation) inverting method and describes a operational coordination of wind turbine generators. The proposed power control algorithm can simply produce the output power of wind turbine generator needed in wind farm, which can reduce the power of main grid more and exclude a supplementary reactive power compensator. We assumed that wind farm are composed with two kinds of wind turbine generators, AC/DC/AC and induction generator types.
The paper is related to smart maximum power system based on program logic. Especially, this system compares the total demand power with the target power by using the signal from the digital kilo watt meter. Based on the power information by the maximum power control equipment the consumed future power is anticipated. In addition, through consumed future power the controllable target power is set, and it applies on the maximum power control equipment. User or manager would control the load efficiently through the simple programming which could control load based on the control sequence and relay. To begin with the conventional maximum power control algorithm is surveyed, and the smart maximum power control system based on program logic is used, and the new algorithm from full load to proportion shut down is proposed by using PLC program. the validity of the proposed control scheme is investigated by both simulation results.
