  • KOMPSAT (Korean Multi-Purpose Satellite) is a Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) satellite under development in Korea. Its performance has been steadily improving. At this time, power demand of the payload increased according to performance improvement of the payload. Accordingly, design of the satellite, such as design of the internal power supply device and the configuration of the solar array, was changed. Thus, many considerations are required according to an increase in power when designing power EGSE (Electric Ground Support Equipment) for supplying power to satellites and conduct satellite integration tests. This paper deals with matters to be considered when designing power EGSE according to changes in satellite power requirements according to payloads and increase in power requirements.

  • Recent concerns about environmental conditions have triggered the growing interest in using green energy resources. These sources of energy, however, bring new challenges mainly due to their uncertainty and intermittency. In order to alleviate the concerns on the penetration of intermittent energy resources, this paper investigates impacts of realizing demand-side potentials. Among different demand-side management programs, this paper considers demand response wherein consumers change their consumption pattern in response to changing prices. The research studies demand response potentials from different load sectors on generation system well-being. Consumers' sensitivity to time-varying prices is captured via self and cross elasticity coefficients. In the calculation of well-being indices, sequential Monte Carlo simulation approach is accompanied with fuzzy logic. Finally, IEEE-RTS is used as the test bed to conduct several simulations and the associated results are thoroughly discussed.

  • Recently, physical examinations have become an important strategy to reduce costs for individuals and society. Pre-physical counseling is important for an effective physical examination. However, incomplete counseling is being conducted because the demand for physical examinations is not predicted. Therefore, in this study, the demand for physical examination was predicted using text mining and stepwise regression. As a result of the analysis, the most recent text data showed a high explanatory power of the demand for physical examination. Also, large amounts of data have high explanatory power. In addition, it was found that the high frequency of the text "health food" reduces the number of health examination customers. And the higher the frequency of the text of the word "food", the lower the number of physical examination customers. However, when the word "wild ginseng" was exposed a lot on Twitter, the number of physical examination customers visiting hospitals increased. In other words, customers consume efficiently by comparing the health examination price with the price of consumer goods. The proposed research framework can help predict demand in other industries.

  • Since $20^{th}$ century, along with the rapid industrial advancement, the concentrated urban development in specific large cities have made people migrate to those cities, thus causing problems in the power system stability. In case of Korea, more than 40% of the power system demand comes from the consumers in Seoul Metropolitan area and the rate is expected to increase. With the continuous increase of power demand, in order to meet the demand for system reliability improvement, the power system was multi-looped for reliability enhancement, the problem of fault current happened. In this situation, there are several methods for fault current reduction likes current limiting reactor, replacing circuit breaker, splitting busses, etc. But these methods reached its limit, power system needs more fundamental solutions such as grid segmentation. In this paper, we assume grid segmentation already has been progressed using VSC BTB HVDC. Then, this paper discusses operating point of HVDC in metropolitan area considering loss minimization and handy flow control. The simulation is proceeded on 2027 KEPCO system.

  • Forecasting of electric power demand has been a basic element for electric power system operation and system development, and it's accuracy has very strong influence on reliability and economical efficience of power supply. So, in this paper, long―term maximum electric power demand has been forecasted by using the triple exponential smoothing method initiated R.G.Brown. It has been regarded this method as high accuracy and operational convenience. The smoothing function is a liner combination of all past observations and the weight given to previous observations decreases geometrically with age.

  • In this paper, we first introduce a general architecture of an energy management system in a home area network based on a smart grid. Then, we propose an efficient scheduling method for home power usage. The home gateway (HG) receives the demand response (DR) information indicating the real-time electricity price, which is transferred to an energy management controller (EMC). Referring to the DR, the EMC achieves an optimal power scheduling scheme, which is delivered to each electric appliance by the HG. Accordingly, all appliances in the home operate automatically in the most cost-effective way possible. In our research, to avoid the high peak-to-average ratio (PAR) of power, we combine the real-time pricing model with the inclining block rate model. By adopting this combined pricing model, our proposed power scheduling method effectively reduces both the electricity cost and the PAR, ultimately strengthening the stability of the entire electricity system.

  • A new intelligent power network (Smart Grid) that grafts some new technologies, such as the extension of the new and reproducible energy, electric motors, and electric storages, onto the regulation of green house gases according to the recent convention on climate changes has been actively promoted. As establishing such an intelligent power network, it is possible to implement a real-time rate system according to the change from the conventional single directional information transmission to the bidirectional information transmission. Such a real-time rate system can provide power during the chip rate hour by avoiding the high rate hour although customers use the same level of power through providing such real-time rate information including power generation costs. In this study, the establishment of an operating system that makes an effective use of the real-time rate system and its operation method are to be proposed.

  • In recent years, type of the car is changing. Instead of cars that use internal combustion engines, we will use mainly eco-friendly electric vehicles. However, the utilization of electric vehicles brings enormous increase of power consumption. Thus, efficient power management and intelligent power consumption is required. Demand response can be effective measures of power consumption. In this paper, we present demand response technology applications, communication method, PLC application and simulation result.

  • This paper proposes a new model as a framework for forecasting demand and technological substitution, which can accommodate different patterns of technological change. This model, which we named, "Adaptive Diffusion Model", is formalized from a conceptual framework that incorporates several underlying factors determining the market demand for technological products. The formulation of this model is given in terms of a period analysis to improve its explanatory power for dynamic processes in the real world, and is described as a continuous form which approximates a discrete derivation of the model. In order to illustrate the applicability and generality of this model, time-series data of the diffusion rates for some typical products in electronics and telecommunications market have been empirically tested. The results show that the model has higher explanatory power than any other existing model for all the products tested in our study. It has been found that this model can provide a framework which is sufficiently robust in forecasting demand and innovation diffusion for various technological products.

  • This study deals with the design of the mechanism in which demand response (DR) resources are traded in the power generation market. In general, a DR aggregator (DRA), which extends DR resources and provides technical support, is central to this mechanism. In this study, power users, called DR customer (DRC), participate in load reduction and are also modeled to participate directly in DR-related bidding. The DRA provides incentives to the DRC, indirectly impacting the market, and the DRC use the bid parameters strategically. We present the conditions for finding Nash Equilibrium (NE) in game problems of various participants including market operators, and analyze the characteristics of DRA and DRC related models. It also analyzes the impact of the participants on the market according to various types of competition and coalitions between DRA and DRC.
