Adaptive On-line State-of-available-power Prediction of Lithium-ion Batteries

  • This paper presents a new overall system for state-of-available-power (SoAP) prediction for a lithium-ion battery pack. The essential part of this method is based on an adaptive network architecture which utilizes both fuzzy model (FIS) and artificial neural network (ANN) into the framework of adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). While battery aging proceeds, the system is capable of delivering accurate power prediction not only for room temperature, but also at lower temperatures at which power prediction is most challenging. Due to design property of ANN, the network parameters are adapted on-line to the current battery states (state-of-charge (SoC), state-of-health (SoH), temperature). SoC is required as an input parameter to SoAP module and high accuracy is crucial for a reliable on-line adaptation. Therefore, a reasonable way to determine the battery state variables is proposed applying a combination of several partly different algorithms. Among other SoC boundary estimation methods, robust extended Kalman filter (REKF) for recalibration of amp hour counters was implemented. ANFIS then achieves the SoAP estimation by means of time forward voltage prognosis (TFVP) before a power pulse occurs. The trade-off between computational cost of batch-learning and accuracy during on-line adaptation was optimized resulting in a real-time system with TFVP absolute error less than 1%. The verification was performed on a software-in-the-loop test bench setup using a 53 Ah lithium-ion cell.

스마트무인기 비행운용프로그램 개발 (Development of Operational Flight Program for Smart UAV)

  • 스마트무인기의 비행제어컴퓨터는 탑재장비와의 입/출력 신호처리, 비행제어법칙 연산 그리고 고장진단 및 이중화 기능 등이 구현된 비행운용프로그램이 탑재되어 있다. 비행운용프로그램은 PowerPC 755 프로세서와 VxWorks 5.5 실시간운영체제 환경에서 개발되었다. 비행운용프로그램은 메모리 참조 모듈, 탑재장비 입/출력 신호처리 모듈 그리고 비행제어법칙 모듈로 구성되었고 각각의 모듈은 계층 구조로 설계되었다. 메모리 참조 모듈과 신호처리 모듈은 벤치 테스트를 통해 검증되었고, 비행제어법칙 모듈은 시뮬레이션 시험, 지상통합시험, 안전줄 시험 그리고 비행시험을 통해 검증되었다. 본 논문에서는 비행운용프로그램의 개발환경, 소프트웨어 구조 그리고 검증 및 관리방법에 대해서 기술하였다.

군용 궤도장비 보조동력장치의 소음저감 최적화 연구 (A Study on Optimization of Noise Reduction of Auxiliary Power Unit for Military Tracked Vehicle)

  • 군용으로 사용하는 궤도장비 디젤엔진의 보조동력장치에 대한 소음저감은 소요군의 감성품질을 만족시키는 중요한 요소 중 하나이다. 본 연구에서 이러한 보조동력장치의 소음을 줄이기 위해 구조기인소음을 저감하는 방법과 공기기인소음을 저감하는 방법을 고안하여 시험을 수행하였다. 그 결과 구조기인소음 저감을 위해 소음기를 개선하였을 때 약 22 dB(A)의 소음저감 효과가 있었다. 공기기인소음 저감의 영향을 알아보기 위해 흡음재의 종류와 후방문 그릴의 형상에 따른 소음을 측정하였고 그 영향은 인간이 인지하지 못하는 수준인 3 dB(A) 미만의 소음저감 효과가 나타났다. 또한, 실제차량에 소음저감을 위한 방안들을 적용하여 시험한 결과 구조기인소음을 저감하였을 때 약 9 dB(A)의 소음저감 효과가 나타났으며 공기기인소음의 저감효과는 1 dB(A) 이하로 측정된 것을 확인하였다. 따라서 궤도장비의 APU 소음저감을 위해서는 공기기인소음을 저감하는 방법보다 구조물을 통해 전달되는 소음을 저감하는 방안이 효과적이라는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구결과를 통해 추후 개발하는 타 군용 궤도장비의 소음을 저감하기 위한 기초자료로 사용될 것으로 기대된다.

열과 유동을 고려한 음장해석을 통한 머플러의 설계 (Muffler Design Using Transmission Loss Prediction Considering Heat and Flow)

  • Two mufflers for a large-size sedan are suggested aiming (1) sporty-sound and (2) quiet-sound as well as both satisfying low back-pressure and low manufacturing cost. Transmission loss prediction considering heat and flow may increase the accuracy and reduce the development cost in muffler design; thus, GT-power prediction considering heat, flow, and acoustics is utilized. By understanding the fundamentals of flow-acoustic theory in small orifice(hole), an effective muffler design concept is proposed. Vehicle tests show the consistence with predictions for sound; also a back-pressure test bench confirms the advantage in pressure drop for both suggested mufflers. Those suggested mufflers also have advantages in manufacturing cost due to simplicity of the design.

Design of exhaust manifold for pulse converters considering fatigue strength due to vibration

  • The design of the exhaust manifold for the pulse converters of a 4 strokes high power medium-speed diesel engine is presented in terms of fatigue analysis. The said system undergoes thermal expansion due to high temperature of exhaust gas and is exposed to intrinsic vibration of the internal combustion engine. Moreover, the exhaust pulse generates pressure pulsating along the runner inside manifold. Under such circumstances, the design and construction of exhaust manifold must be carried out in a way to prevent early failure due to fracture. To validate the design concept, a test rig was developed to simulate the combination of thermal and vibrational movements, simultaneously. Experimental results showed that a certain sense of reliability can be achieved by considering a field factor obtained from the results of engine bench tests.

  • The goal of this study is to investigate the potential application of triboelectrostatic separation process for removing unburned carbon from fly ash. The process utilizes the difference in electrical charging characteristics between the organic material (carbon) and the mineral matter (fly ash). In the present work, dry separation tests have been conducted on Samchunpo fly ash samples using a bench - scale analytic separator. The test variables studied include air rate, feed rate, electric field strength, particle size, charger material and length, etc. The best separation results were obtained at the air rate 501/min, feed rate 15 g/min and voltage 15 ㎸. The fly ash with carbon content below 1 % was obtained with over 65% recovery.

  • In this study, a novel hydraulic energy-regenerative system was presented from its proposal through its modeling to its control. The system was based on a closed-loop hydrostatic transmission and used a hydraulic accumulator as the energy storage system in a novel configuration to recover the kinetic energy without any reversion of the fluid flow. The displacement variation in the secondary unit was reduced, which widened the uses of several types of hydraulic pump/motors for the secondary unit. The proposed system was modeled based on its physical attributes. Simulation and experiments were performed to evaluate the validity of the employed mathematical model and the energy recovery potential of the system. The experimental results indicated that the round trip recovery efficiency varied from 22% to 59% for the test bench.

  • An electron gun system for a nanosecond pulse linac has been built and tested. The gun grid is driven with a grid pulser, which consists of an avalanche transistor pulser and parallel triode amplifier. The amplifier is installed in an end hole of the electron gun and provided for power amplification and polarity change of the output pulses of the avalanche transistor pulser. An output pulse of 200 V and 2 ns FWHM was obtained by using the grid pulser of can type transistors. Measurements with a test bench show that the electron gun can deliver 2ns pulse with with currents larger than 3A.

압축비 변경에 따른 CNG기관의 성능특성 연구 (Performance characteristics of CNG engine at various compression ratios)

  • Natural gas is one of the most promising alternative fuels for automative vehicles, because it has lower exhaust emissions and better fuel economy characteristics than gasoline and can be used in conventional engines with a little modification. In the present study, a conventional gasoline engine was modified to a CNG dedicated engine, which can be operated with CNG( compressed natural gas) only, and a engine bench test was performed at various compression ratios. As a result, it was revealed that the prototype CNG engine can be operated with lower exhaust emissions, better fuel economy and better thermal efficiency, but with a sightly reduced brake horse power, compared to the conventional gasoline engine.

농업용 트랙터의 전후진 파워시프트 변속 특성 해석 (Analysis of Power Shuttle Characteristics of Agricultural Tractor)

  • A dynamic model of a power shuttle transmission was developed and its validity was verified using the experimental data obtained from a transmission test bench. A 40㎾, 4WD tractor was also modeled using an application software EASY5 to investigate parameters and their effects on the power shifting performance. For a tractor model, the manual reverse gear was replaced by a power shuttle transmission. The tractor model also included an engine, main-gears for transmission, wheels, differentials and planet gears. Using the tractor model, the effects of the parameters such as modulating pressure and time, engine speed, tractor speed. tractor weight. reverse to forward speed ratio and torsional damper on the transient characteristics at starting and shuttle shifting were investigated by the computer simulation. The transient characteristics were represented by variations in clutch pressure, torque transmitted to input shaft and driving wheels, and power transmission capacity of the clutch. It was found that the modulating pressure and time affected most significantly the torque transmission and shifting time. The input torque, axle torque, power transmission capacity of the clutch and transmission time all increased with increase in engine speed, tractor speed. tractor weight and ratio of reverse to forward speeds. However, the axle torque decreased with tractor speed. Both the axle torque and power transmission capacity of the clutch also decreased with the ratio of reverse to forward speeds.
