  • Three-level Diode Clamped Multilevel Inverter, generally known as Neutral-Point-Clamped(NPC) inverter, has an inherent problem causing Neutral Point(NP) potential variation. Until now, in many literatures NP potential problem has been investigated and lots of solutions have also been proposed. However, in the case of NP potential variation was rarely published from the standpoint of reliability. In this paper, NP potential is analytically investigated both normal and fault conditions under carrier based PWM. Subsequently, relation between fault detection time and size of capacitor is analyzed. This information is explored by simulation results, which contribute to enhance the reliability of the NPC inverter system.

  • Fracture behaviors of pipes with local wall thinning are very important for the integrity of nuclear power plant. However, effects of local wall thinning on strength and fracture behaviors of piping system were not well studied. Acoustic emission(AE) has been widely used in various fields because of its extreme sensitivity, dynamic detection ability and location of growing defects. In this study, we investigated failure modes of locally wall thinned pipes and AE signals by bending test. From test results, we could be divided four types of failure modes of ovalization, crack initiation after ovalization, local buckling and crack initiation after local buckling. And fracture behaviors such as elastic region, yielding region, plastic deformation region and crack progress region could be evaluated by AE counts, accumulative counts and time-frequency analysis during bending test. The result of the frequency range is expected to be basic data that can inspect plants in real-time.

  • The lightning which is occurred in different regions Contains 80% of whole between June and September. There were the lightning accidents at the peak of mountains. As a result, the antenna tower of AM broadcasting Systems build up clyish plain where has a low earth characteristics resistivity. The following have been observed as a Counter lightning Systems such as high frequency choke, sphere gap(75, 000 V/inch) and reflective power detection relay.

  • The wavelength and output power of semiconductor laser is varying sensitively with temperature. It must be stabilized by the aid of some proper stabilization technique in order to use it as a radiative source for heterodyne optical communication, optical metrology, and high resolution spectroscopy. In this paper, the temperature of the thermal chamber was variable from -27$-50^{\circ}C$ to +73$-50^{\circ}C$ and the temperature stability was within ${\pm}2m{\circ}K$ or better.

  • This paper represents a new approach for the protective relay of power transmission lines using a Artificial Neural Network(ANN). A different fault on transmission lines need to be detected, classified and located accurately and cleared as fast as possible. However, The protection range of the distance relay is always designed on the basis of fixed settings, and unfortunately these approach do not have the ability to adapt dynamically to the system operating condition. ANN is suitable for the adaptive relaying and the detection of complex faults. The backpropagation algorithm based multi-layer perceptron is utilized for the learning process. It allows to make control to various protection functions. As expected, the simulation result demonstrate that this approach is useful and satisfactory.

  • In this paper, we have designed the VHDL module of DS/SS QPSK wireless modem processor for digital data communication. The spread spectrum method is used for modern processor, because this method guarantees good frequency efficiency and higher security. Also, it guarantees good performance in digital communication system under multi-path interferences. The differential encoder and decoder are used for simple circuit composition in the signal detection. For the synchronization of receiver, matched filter and power detector are used.   • The development technology for the helicopter is improved by the increasing of computing power and advanced test facilities. The increasing efficiency of fuel consuming by the developing of improved lift-to-drag rotor system is the major issue, the noise reduction for ecology(civil area) and increase of survivability to reduce noise detection(battlefield) also are important. This investigation shows the classification of helicopter external noise and requirements, the noise flight test methods, the numerical modeling method for aero-acoustic of rotor blade and the result of CAA(Computational Aero-Acoustic) for main rotor blade.

  • We introduce a scheme with a maximized efficiency of detecting atoms passing through an optical standing-wave mode cavity. Consider a standing-wave optical cavity illuminated by a weak probe beam through one of its mirrors where the transmission through the other mirror is monitored by a photodetector. If an atom is put in the cavity, the atom-cavity coupling shifts the resonance frequency of the system via the so-called normal mode splitting, and thereby the transmission power will drop. In fact, this type of atom detection scheme has been used in recent single atom trap experiments In practice, however, the field in a standing-wave mode will have a geometrical structure having nodes and antinodes that when the atom traverses the cavity through one of the nodes, there will be no such effect of atom-field interaction.   • In this paper, we propose and evaluate a new interference cancellation method using low pass filtered data estimation method of the instantaneous decision sawnle obtained from each decision stage. With respect to the convergence to the optimal solution the superiority of the proposed method to parallel interference cancellation (PIC) referred as prevailing techniques is proved by its (asymptotic) spectral radius. Through the simulation under the various environment, we show the performance superiority of the IC scheme using proposed method to the PIC scheme. Furthermore, we show transcendence of the proposed method on the possibility of multirate transmission or multiple power scheduling and of performance in the various traffic environments.
