The direct reaction method has been used for the fabrication of Al-Mg/$Al_2O_3$ functionally gradient materials. It was found that the reaction layer of the Al-Mg/$Al_2O_3$ powder compact at $900^{\circ}C$ under air atmosphere led to the formation of reaction layers with varying ceramic phase contents. As the results of experiments by using the TGA system, the characteristics and growth behavior of the reaction layers were affected by the reaction temperature, the gas flow rate, the Mg contents and the $Al_2O_3$ contents.
In this work, we synthsized GaN powders by the direct reactions of Ga with NH$_3$at the temperature range of 950∼1150$^{\circ}C$ and we growth the GaN thin films on Si and sapphire substrates using the synthesized GaN powders by the vapor phase epitaxy method. The synthesized powder had hexagonal crystal structures with lattice constants of a$\sub$0/=3.1895${\AA}$, c$\sub$0/=5.18394${\AA}$. The reaction rates of GaN were increased with both reaction time and temperature, however it did not depends on the flow rates of NH$_3$. The island type GaN crystals were grown on (0001) sapphire substrates and fast lateral growth of GaN on (111) Si substrate than sapphire was observed in our experiments.
In this work, we report on the synthesis of the GaN powders from gallium oxide hydroxide (GaOOH) powders and on the structural and optical properties of them. Simple heat treatment of GaOOH in the flow of $NH_3$ gas leads to the formation of submicron hexagonal GaN powders even at the low reaction temperature of $800^{\circ}C$. XRD measurements show that the powders obtained are the single phase GaN. EDS, FTIR, and PL measurements indicate the oxygen-associated characteristics. It is shown from the low temperature PL measurement on GaN powders synthesized at $1000^{\circ}C$ that the shallow donor-acceptor recombination induced emission is more intense than the near band-edge excitonic emission.
The negative pressure as much as 10's mmHg is demanded at nozzle inside, in case of atomizing the large density molten materials. by conventional air jet nozzle. In this study, suction type fluid nozzle is designed by applying the ejector principle in order to clarify the air flow of nozzle inside, mechanism of liquid suction and liquid film formation. The results of this experimental study areas follows. Suction force of liquid is magnified by using liquid nozzle, and it is able to supply the liquid stable. Negative pressure at nozzle inside is varied by throttle angle of liquid nozzle, position and outer diameter of air jet nozzle, and have a influence on liquid suction quantity and liquid film formation.
A wing operating in close proximity to the ground exhibits a reduction in induced drag, which increase the lift/drag ratio. The poert-augmented ram (RAR) phenomenon involves directiing the efflux from forward mounted propulsion ststem under the wings, with the efflux nearly stagnated under the wings. In the present paper, 3 dimentional PAR was numerically studied by solving the Navier-Stokes equations. Pressure distribution and velocity vectors are calculated around the wing surface and the ground. Through the numerical simulation, Cp values and lift/drag ratio are carefully reviewed by changing the height/chord; 0.05, 0.1, 0.3 and 0.8. The shape of model is NACA 0012 with a span/chord ratio of 3.0. According to the numerical results, the relationship between lift/drag and height/chord is fairly reasonable.
Formation reaction of Mn-Zn ferrite depending on various synthetic conditions of wet process was investigated using FeCl2.nH2O(n≒4), MnCl2.4H2O, ZnCl2 as starting materials. A stable intermediate precipitate was formed by the addition of H2O2. And the precipitate was hard to transform to spinel phase of Mn-Zn Fe2O4. Single phase of Mn-Zn Fe2O4 spinel was obtained above 8$0^{\circ}C$ reaction temperature. The powder had spherical particle shape and 0.02~0.05${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ particle size. Fe(OH)2 solid solution, -FeO(OH) solid solution, -FeOOH, Mn-Zn Fe2O4 spinel were formed with air flow rate 180$\ell$/hr. However, single phase of Mn-Zn Fe2O4 spinel with cubic particle shape and 0.1~0.2${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ particle size was formed with synthetic conditions of 8$0^{\circ}C$ and 90 munutes. The particle shape of the -FeOOH was needle-like.
$eta$-Sialon powders were prepared by reduction-nitridation from mixture of Wando pyrophyllite and graphite as a reducing agent at 135$0^{\circ}C$ in 80% $N_2$-20% $H_2$ atmosphere. As the reaction products $Si_2ON_2$, $\beta$-$Si_3N_4$ a--$Si_3N_4$ and $\beta$-SiC were observed. Additive agents of MgO, CaO, $Y_2O_3$ were used for promoting the reduction and nitridiation aeaction. The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of silica-carbon ratio ($SiO_2$/C=weight ratio), raction time gas flow rate pellet size and powder packing on synthesis of $\beta$-Sialon from Wando pyropyllite.
Most concrete is recently made of an aggregate which is properly absorbed, and carried in it in order to do capability at every fields. We have been close to demand new rapability of high flowing and enduring for specific concretes. That is difficult to cope with claiming the efficiency on deterioration from lack of a high quality aggregate. Therefore, For solving the problems we apply to a packing method for using dried materials. That is to say that it is a kind of making into an instant. In this study. There is a purpose to present fundamental data, comparing and analyzing a phenomenon of aggregate's absorption following the rate of adding water, for using existing materials.
The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of specific hydration reaction on the stiffening process of cement paste. The cement compositions are manipulated to cause specific hydration reactions (secondary gypsum and syngenite formation) responsible for false set, and the relationship between specific hydration reactions and the flow and stiffening behavior of cement paste were investigated using modified ASTM C 403 penetration resistance measurement and oscillatory shear rheology. X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) was used for the phase identification associated with premature stiffening of cement paste. Differential thermal analysis (DTA) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) were used for verification of syngenite formation. From the results, both secondary gypsum and syngenite formation caused faster stiffening and set. The amount of syngenite produced during 1 hour hydration was approximately 1 % of total mass of the cement paste, but cement paste with syngenite formation showed significantly accelerated stiffening behavior compared to normal cement paste.
Impregnation of molten thermoplastic resin into continuous unidirectional fiber bundles was investigated. The degree of impregnation is defined as the ratio between the number of impregnated fibers and the total number of fibers of a bundle. The degree of impregnation was modeled as a function of time, impregnation pressure, temperature and tow size assuming the radial inward flow through the fiber bundle is governed by the Darcy's law. The permeability was assumed to be constant. Experiments were performed to evaluate the validity of the medel. Today's T300 graphite fiber bundles and Polyetheretherketone(PEEK) resin was used. A fiber bundle and resin powder were put into a mold and pressure and temperature were applied. After a predetermined time, the sample was taken out and microphotographs of the cross-section were taken. From the microphotographs, the number of impregnated fibers was counted and then the degree of impregnation was determined. Experiments were also performed for different tow sizes. Good agreements were found between the model and the experiments rendering a confidence in the model.
