Estimation of Oil Quantity in Porous Bearing

  • Porous bearings are lubricated the oil that is contained in porous metal. Then they are always used with no oil supply, because of that, widely used electric motors. But, if oil flow out less than the limit, troubles often happen. This report shows that attempt of estimating oil quantity in porous bearing by using calculation that based Reynols' equation and Darcy's law, aimed of developing long life bearing. And comparing with experimental and calculation result, we show possibility of estimating rest oil quantity in porous bearing at steadry state by calculation.

  • The use of hot gas in melt atomization has been widely reported, but little detailed experimental data on its precise effects and no satisfactory theory to explain them have been published. In this paper the authors present experimental data on the atomization of metals with gas at temperatures from ambient to 1000C, a semi-empirical equation relating particle size to gas temperature and flow rate, and an analysis of the gas dynamics of the atomization process that allows some insight into the process.

  • Flow visualization and PIV measurements were conducted to investigate the flow characteristics of multi-channel with inclination angle. The water flow seeded with tiny vegetable powder as tracers revealed details of flow field. The PIV measurement to acquire multi-point velocity data simulatneously was carried out at three space of plates for 5, 10, and 15mm with variation of inlet flow rates of $0.25m^3/h$ and <$0.5m^3/h.$ Experiment results show that space of plates acts a significant role in separating process.

마이크로 액적/기포 유동반응기에서 ZnO 입자의 연속제조 특성 (Characteristics of Continuous Preparation of ZnO Powder in a Micro Drop/bubble Fluidized React)

  • 직경이 0.03 m이고 높이가 1.5 m인 마이크로 액적/기포 유동반응기에서 ZnO 입자의 연속제조 특성을 검토하였다. 마이크로 액적을 운반하는 기체의 속도는 6.0 L/min, 전구체 중 Zn이온의 농도는 0.4 mol/L로 유지하였다. ZnO 입자의 합성을 위한 반응의 온도(973 K~1,273 K)와 마이크로 기포의 유속 (0~0.4 L/min)이 합성된 ZnO 입자의 기공 특성에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 본 연구의 실험범위에서 ZnO 입자의 합성온도는 1,073 K가 합성된 ZnO 입자의 기공을 극대화하는데 최적이었다. 또한, 반응기에서 연속 제조되는 ZnO 입자의 평균크기는 반응온도가 증가함에 따라 감소하였으며 입자의 표면은 점점 매끄럽게 단순화되었다. 반응기 내부에 마이크로 기포를 유입함으로써 유입하지 않는 경우와 비교하여 합성된 ZnO 입자 내부에 기공을 효과적으로 형성시킬 수 있었으며, 평균 BET면적을 58%까지 증가시킬 수 있었다. 마이크로 액적/기포 유동반응기를 사용하여 연속 합성한 ZnO 입자의 평균입도는 반응온도에 따라 $1.25{\sim}1.75{\mu}m$이었다.

부양가스응축법에 의해 제조된 철산화물 나노 분말의 자기적 특성연구 (A Study on Magnetic Iron Oxide Nano Particles Synthesized by the Levitational Gas Condensation (LGC) Method)

  • Nanoparticles of iron oxides have been prepared by the levitational gas condensation (LGC) method, and their structural and magnetic properties were studied by XRD, TEM and Mossbauer spectroscopy. Fe clusters were evaporated from a surface of the levitated liquid Fe droplet and then condensed into nanoparticles of iron oxide with particle size of 14 to 30 nm in a chamber filled with mixtures of Ar and $O_2$ gases. It was found that the phase transition from both $\gamma$-$Fe_2O_3$ and $\alpha$-Fe to $Fe_3O_4$, which was evaluated from the results of Mossbauer spectra, strongly depended on the $O_2$ flow rate. As a result, $\gamma$-$Fe_2O_3$ was synthesized under the $O_2$ flow rate of 0.1$\leq$$Vo_2$(Vmin)$\leq$0.15, whereas $Fe_3O_4$ was synthesized under the $O_2$, flow rate of 0.15$\leq$$Vo_2$(Vmin)$\leq$0.2.

최적 고속화염 용사 코팅 공정기술로 제조된 WC-CrC-Ni 코팅의 마모 특성 (Wear Property of HOVF WC-CrC-Ni Coating Prepared by Optimal Coating Process)

  • WC-CrC-Ni coatings were prepared by nine processes of the Taguchi program with three levels for the four spray parameters: spray distance, flow rates of hydrogen and oxygen, and powder feed rate. The optimal coating process (OCP) was oxygen flow rate of 38 FMR, hydrogen flow rate of 53 FMR, powder feed rate of 25 g/min, and spray distance of 7 inches. Hardness of 1150 Hv and porosity of 1.2 %, were obtained by OCP; these are better results compared with the highest 1033 Hv and the lowest 1.5 % porosity obtained by nine processes of the Taguchi program. Friction coefficient of the WC-CrC-Ni coating decreased from $0.36{\pm}0.07$ at $25^{\circ}C$ to $0.23{\pm}0.07$ at $450^{\circ}C$. These values were smaller than those of the EHC (electrolytic hard chrome) plating at both temperatures due to lubrication from the oxide debris. The wear trace and wear depth of the coating are smaller than those of the EHC at both temperatures. Pitting was not found in the WC-CrC-Ni coating sample, while it did appear in the EHC sample.

회전형 저온 플라즈마 시스템을 이용한 분말식품의 균일한 살균 연구 (A Study of Homogeneous Sterilization of Micro-sized Food Powder by Rotatable Low-Temperature Plasma System)

  • In this study, a relatively effective process is used to sterilize Escherichia coli on the surface of micro-sized calcium citrate powder using nitrogen and argon as process gases in a low-temperature vacuum plasma treatment. The purpose of this study is to confirm and to introduce the effectiveness of homogeneous surface treatment for the sterilization of fine inorganic powder by the rotatable low-temperature RF plasma system designed by ourselves. The results of the test using 3M petrifilm showed that there were no remarkable spots in the case of the surface of plasma treated powder, whereas the untreated powder showed many blue spots, which indicating that the E. coli was alive. After 5 days, in the same samples, the blue spots were seen to be larger and darker than before, while the plasma-treated powder showed no changes. The results from FE-SEM analysis showed that the E. coli was damaged and/or destroyed by reactive species generated in the plasma space, resulting in the E. coli being sterilized. Furthermore, the sterilization effects according to the selected parameters ($N_2$ and Ar; flow rate 30 and 50 sccm) adapted in this study were mutually similar, regardless of such different process parameters, and this indicates that homogeneous treatment of powder surfaces could be more effective than conventional methods. Therefore, the plasma apparatus used in this study may be a practical method to use in a powerful sterilization process in powder-type food.

분말 광촉매를 이용한 광전기화학 공정에서 Rhodamine B의 색 제거 (Color Removal of Rhodamine B by Photoelectrochemical Process using Powder TiO$_2$)

  • Rhodamine B(RhB) 탈색에 대한 광전기촉매 공정의 적용가능성을 분말 TiO$_2$를 충전한 슬러리 광전기촉매 반응기에서 연구하였다. 광전기촉매 공정의 반응기 시스템은 분말 TiO$_2$, Pt 전극 및 3개의 8 W UV-C 등으로 구성되어 있다. 전류, 전해질, 공기 유량 및 전극 재질과 같은 운전 인자의 영향을 고찰하였다. 광전기촉매 공정의 최적 광촉매 량과 전류는 각각 0.4 g/L과 0.02A이었다. 광촉매 공정과 전기분해 단독 공정에 의해 분해되는 RhB의 합보다 광전기촉매 공정에 의해 더 빨리 분해되었는데, 광촉매 공정과 전기분해 공정의 결합에 의한 시너지 효과를 나타내는 것으로 사료되었다. 광전기촉매 공정은 공기 유량에 의해 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났고 최적 공기 유량은 2 L/min이었다. RhB 탈색에 대한 전극 재질과 NaCl 효과는 본 실험범위에서는 크지 않은 것으로 나타났다.

유공유리분말 혼입 고강도 콘크리트의 물성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Material Properties of High Strength Concrete with Hollow Glass Powder)

  • 본 연구에서는 70MPa급 고강도 콘크리트에서 유공유리분말(HGP)의 적용성을 확인하기 위하여 HGP 사용량에 따라서 프레쉬 상태와 경화 상태의 물성을 검토하였고, 그 실험결과는 다음과 같다. 유동 특성은 HGP의 사용량이 증가할수록 슬럼프플로가 약간 증가하는 하는 것으로 나타났고 T500은 HGP의 사용량이 증가할수록 약간 단축되었으며, 철근 통과성은 HGP의 볼베어링 효과로 인해 개선되는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 사용량 1.0kg/㎥에서 통과성 0등급으로 가장 양호한 철근통과성을 발휘하였다. 레올로지 특성으로는 HGP 1.0kg/㎥에서 소성점도가 Plain 대비 40% 정도 감소하여 HGP가 고강도 콘크리트의 소성점도를 낮추는 효과가 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 하지만 HGP 2.0kg/㎥에서는 1.0kg/㎥보다 오히려 소성점도가 크게 나타났다. 실험을 통하여 HGP가 고강도 콘크리트의 작업성 향상에 도움이 되는 것을 확인할 수 있었으며 사용량 1.0kg/㎥ 이 가장 적절한 것으로 판단된다. 또한 HGP가 콘크리트 압축강도에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 확인되었다.

Assessment of flowing ability of self-compacting mortars containing recycled glass powder

  • This paper investigates the effect of recycled glass powder (RGP) on flowing properties of self-compacting mortars (SCMs) containing different ratios of fillers and superplasticizer dosages. Fly ash (FA), nano-silica (NS), micro-silica (MS), metakaolin (MK) and rice husk ash (RHA) are used as fillers and their synergistic effect with RFP is studied. The effects of fillers and high-range water reducer (HRWR) on flowing ability of mortars are primarily determined by slump flow and V-funnel flow time tests. The results showed that for composites with a higher RGP content, the mortar flowing ability increased but tended to decrease when the composites containing 10% MK or 5% RHA. However, the flowing ability of samples incorporating 5% RGP and 10% SF or 25% FA showed an opposite result that their slump flow spread decreased and then increased with increasing RGP content. For specimens with 3% NS, the influence of RGP content on flowing properties was not significant. Except RHA and MS, the fillers studied in this paper could reduce the dosage of HRWR required for achieving the same followability. Also, the mixture parameters were determined and indicated that the flowability of mixtures was also affected by the content of sand and specific surface area of cement materials. It is believed that excess fine particles provided ball-bearing effect, which could facilitate the movement of coarse particles and alleviate the interlocking action among particles. Also, it can be concluded that using fillers in conjunction with RGP as cementitious materials can reduce the material costs of SCM significantly.
