생태도시에서의 자원활용에 관한 연구 -하수 에너지 활용을 위한 보유열량 평가- (Study on Utilizing Resources in Ecopolis -Evaluation of the Potential Heat Capacity of Sewage For Utilizing as Sewage Energy-)

  • The research on potential energy was conducted to conserve the high-exergy energy like primary energy and utilize waste heat from sewage. From the Point of view in using the waste heat, the energy Potential of waste water from the model house was simulated. From the results, when the heated water was supplied to the model house side in order to put unused energy to Practice use, heated water had higher energy Potential than unheated water, which was due to the discharge of most of unused energy. The possessing heat capacity of sewage from heated water was increased to 40-70 percents in comparison with that from the unheated water. Therefore, it can be used as energy source for improving coefficient of performance of heat pumps. By adopting the multiple heat pump into a model house, It showed that the possessing heat capacity of sewage was reduced. It was also found that the heat was recovered as energy source fur multiple heat pump in a model house.

도시 내 지역난방 Heat Pump용 잠재열원 이용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Utilization of potential heat sources for Heat Pumps to District Heating System in Urban)

  • 본 연구는 도시 내 지역난방 공급지역에 존재하는 Heat Pump용 가용 잠재적 열원을 추정하고자 하였다. 미활용에너지 잠재량은 Open source 기반의 자료를 바탕으로 추정 통합하였다. 특히 수도권 남부에 위치한( 평택시) DH network 내에 대형마트와 공공사우나 시설에 대해 회수 가능한 열에너지 밀도와 열원 지역의 열 수요에 대해 지리적인 공간 분석을 수행하였다. 연구 결과, 연구 대상 DH network 지역에서는 대형마트와 공공사우나 두 가지 열원에 대해 총 1,741.7 toe/year 수준의 잠재 에너지량을 보유하고 있었다. 이 중 57.8%에 해당하는 1,006.9 toe/year를 지역난방용으로 연계할 수 있을 것으로 추정 되었다. 대형마트는 연면적과 에너지 사용량이 0.4937의 양의 상관관계를 보였다. 회수 가능한 에너지 원단위는 상관관계계수를 반영하여 연면적 당 $0.0017toe/m^2$, 저감 가능한 온실가스 배출량은 $0.0069tCO_2/m^2$로 분석되었다. 또한, 공공사우나는 실증사례와 이론 계산 값을 비교하여, 80% 수준의 보수적 추정으로 목욕장 면적당 $0.0315toe/m^2$가 회수 가능한 에너지 원단위로 분석되었으며, 저감 가능한 온실가스 배출량은 $0.1183tCO_2/m^2$로 분석되었다. 이 지역의 총 잠재 에너지량은 행정 구역별 공동주택의 열 수요와 0.5272의 양의 상관관계를 갖고 있었으며, 특히 교통과 상업 중심 지구에서 상대적으로 높은 잠재 에너지량을 가지고 있음을 확인 하였다.

Machine learning-based categorization of source terms for risk assessment of nuclear power plants

  • In general, a number of severe accident scenarios derived from Level 2 probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) are typically grouped into several categories to efficiently evaluate their potential impacts on the public with the assumption that scenarios within the same group have similar source term characteristics. To date, however, grouping by similar source terms has been completely reliant on qualitative methods such as logical trees or expert judgements. Recently, an exhaustive simulation approach has been developed to provide quantitative information on the source terms of a large number of severe accident scenarios. With this motivation, this paper proposes a machine learning-based categorization method based on exhaustive simulation for grouping scenarios with similar accident consequences. The proposed method employs clustering with an autoencoder for grouping unlabeled scenarios after dimensionality reductions and feature extractions from the source term data. To validate the suggested method, source term data for 658 severe accident scenarios were used. Results confirmed that the proposed method successfully characterized the severe accident scenarios with similar behavior more precisely than the conventional grouping method.

미활용에너지의 열 포텐셜 평가 수법에 관한 연구 (Study on Evaluation Method of Thermal Potential of Unused Energy)

  • The increase in environmental loads and energy consumptions has resulted in the need of developed new forms of energy for a sustainable use for the society. Recently, the viability of using unused energy has attracted a great deal of attention. From the view point of using unused energy, the most critical problem can be referred to as the distance between the heat source/sink and heat demand area. The water resource in the city water system was used to solve this distance problem with unused energy. The calculation method of the potential use unit was used to survey the potential of the water resource in the city water system. The amount of theoretical unused energy and energy savings in the model city were estimated using this method. It is estimated that the amounts of energy savings and $CO_2$ reduction correspond to 131.3 GWh and 29280[t-C], respectively, per annual basis.

  • Many countries have recently been expanding efforts for low-carbon global economy to solve the problem of global warming. Development and research for various types of new reusable energy is on the rise throughout the world. The most promising source of energy is the solar photovoltaic energy and the government take an initiative to establish both short-term and long-term policies to develop the solar energy potential resource map. The solar energy and industrialize area researched by GIS methods for optimum site for solar power transfer system. This study attempts to address the hot issue of the development and suitability of the solar photovoltaic energy site using GIS spatial analysis. We need to analyze and describe the solar technology, green energy policies and the energy market trend of the field.

초월임계 운전에 의한 저온 열원 랭킨 동력 사이클의 출력 향상 가능성 (Power Enhancement Potential of a Low-Temperature Heat-Source-Driven Rankine Power Cycle by Transcritical Operation)

  • 본 연구에서는 $100^{\circ}C$의 저온 열원을 이용하여 구동되는 랭킨 동력 사이클에 대하여, HFC-134a를 이용한 아임계 운전을 할 경우의 출력과 HFC-125 를 이용한 초월임계 운전을 할 경우의 출력을 서로 비교함으로써, 초월임계 운전에 의한 출력 향상 가능성을 연구하였다. 서로 다른 두 사이클들의 출력을 공정하게 비교하기 위하여, 각 사이클들을 3 개의 설계인자를 이용하여 최적화 하였다. 이 때, 보다 현실적인 결과를 위하여 기존의 연구와는 달리, 열교환 과정에서 작동유체의 열전달 및 압력강하 특성을 고려하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과, HFC-125 초월임계 사이클의 출력이 HFC-134a 아임계 사이클의 출력에 비해 본 연구의 시뮬레이션 조건 하에서 9.4% 향상 될 수 있음을 보였다.

  • It has been referred as a problem that heat source/sink is distance from heat demand area in using unused energy. To solve the distance problem in using unused energy, the water from city water system like tap water, rain water, waste water used as unused energy. To survey the potential of the water of city water system, it is developed that the calculation method of the potential using unit method. The amount of theoretical unused energy and energy saving in the Osaka City, Japan were estimated by using that method.

  • The oceans are an untapped resource, capable of making a major contribution to our future energy needs. In the search for a non polluting renewable energy source, there is a push to find an economical way to harness energy from the ocean. Tidal stream is one of ocean energy form that is being investigated as potential source for power generation. Tidal current turbines are therefore designed as conversion machinery to generate power from tidal currents. A study on energy extraction from tidal currents is presented in this paper.

  • Along with socioeconomic development and improving standard of living, the heat demand for heating and cooling in residential and commercial sectors is expected to expand rapidly, reaching over 43 million TOE by 2010 in Korea(about 80% increase compared with that in 1995). Since most of this heat demand is loop temperature below $60^{\circ}C$, the utilization of 'unused energy' is surely one of very effective measures to both environmental preservation and energy conservation. 'Unused energy' in this paper is implicated as 'temperature differential energy' available from treated sewage water, useful and abundant heat source for heat pump(cooler in summer and warmer in winter than outside air). An analysis was carried out to estimate the energy potential of treated sewage water for heat pump heat source. Some analysis were taken to study the characteristics of a heat pump system using the treated sewage water as heat source.

  • While the demand for energy has shown a sharp increase recently, the supply seems to be limited by the fact that the conventional fossil fuel energy or nuclear energy has its own environmental problems such as, for example, global warming or nuclear waste disposal. To overcome such limited supply of energy, the utilization of natural thermal energy such as river water and seawater as well as treated sewage can be a substantial supplement. The potential use of the unused energy has become more and more feasible these days as the heat pump technology has been advanced. In the present study, the unused energy resources are estimated on regional and monthly basis for each resource by the method proposed here in order to establish the fundamental data for its utilization. The potential use of the unused energy is a1so discussed.
