  • In this paper, the risk of electric shock is analyzed through analysis for characterization of potential distribution analysis and ground fault current analysis near the area where there are occurred a ground fault at electric vehicle wireless charging system using 20kHz. Studies for electric vehicle wireless charging system are in the works for development of efficiency increase, pickup shape design and communication module as a fundamental research step. But the research related to electrical safety and is still scarce state so that more studies are necessary to commercialize. As a result of analysis, it is verified that induced voltage is arisen more up to 45V near the a area of accident during ground fault and fault current has been maintained continuously without clearing fault condition by operating characteristics for circuit breaker and inverter.

  • The variation in the level of immune response related gene expression in silkworm, Bombyx mori following infection with Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) was analyzed at different time intervals. The occlusion bodies of BmNPV orally inoculated to the two most divergent silkworm races viz., Sarupat (resistant to BmNPV infection) and CSR2 (susceptible to BmNPV infection) were subjected to oral BmNPV inoculation. The expression profile of gp 41 gene of BmNPV in the Sarupat and CSR2 races revealed that the virus could invade the midguts of both susceptible and resistant races. However, its multiplication was significantly less in the midgut of resistant race, while, in the susceptible race, the viral multiplication reached maximum level within 12 h. These findings indicate that potential host genes are involved in the inhibition of viral multiplication within larval midgut. The immune response genes arylphorin, cathepsin B, gloverin, lebocin, serpin, Hsp 19.9, Hsp 20.1, Hsp 20.4, Hsp 20.8, Hsp 21.4, Hsp 23.7, Hsp 40, Hsp 70, Hsp90 revealed differential level of expression on NPV infection. The gloverin, serpin, Hsp 23.7 and Hsp 40 genes are significantly up-regulated in the resistant race after NPV infection. The early up-regulation of these genes suggests that these genes could play an important role in baculovirus resistance in the silkworm, B. mori.

  • DA-3002 is a genuine human growth hormone produced by Dong-A Pharm. Co. Ltd. research laboratory using recombinant DNA technic. In this study, antigenic potential of DA-3002 was examined by active systemic anaphyaxis(ASA) in guinea pigs, mouse-rat passive cutaneous anaphylaxis(PCA) and passive hemagglutination(PHA) test as a part of safety research. DA-3002 induced anaphylactic shock in ASA test using guinea pigs Immunized with DA-3002 alone or DA-3002 incoporated into Freund's complete adjutant(FCA) when challenged with 10 times higher dose of anticipated clinical dose of DA-3002. In the mouse-rat PCA and PHA test, DA-3002 also showed positive results. DA-3002, therfore, was considered to produce IgE, IgG, and/or IgM in mice. The results of this study were similar to those of the other human growth hormones and these positive results were thought to be caused due to the fact that both DA-3002 and the other human growth hormones were heterogenous proteins to guinea pigs and mice. Considering the fact that DA-3002 is a genuine human growth hormone of which structure is identical with indigenous human growth hormone, DA-3002 is thought not to cause immunological problems in clinical use.

  • A platelet activating factor(PAF) antagonist ginkgolides produced from Ginkgo biloba are well known for their potential usage in septic shock and other PAF related diseases. Even though they are extracted from the leaves and on occasion the root bark, the exact biosynthetic site and pathway have not proved yet. In order to locate the enzymes involved and elucidate the biosynthetic site of the compounds, embryo-derived aseptic intact plantlet and plantlet without root have been cultured on 0.3% active carbon-containing solid Murashige and Skoog's medium. The leaves from the six-week-old normal plantlet contained similar amount of ginkgolide B to that of outdoor plant leaves, while the plantlets without root had less than 30% of the ginkgolide B compared to the in vitro intact plantlets. The results suggest that the ginkgolides may be synthesized in the root and transported to the aerial part.

  • Cryopreservation is a process that preserves organelles, cells, tissues, or any other biological constructs by cooling the samples to very low temperatures. The responses of living cells to ice formation are of theoretical interest and practical relevance. Stem cells and other viable tissues, which have great potential for use in basic research as well as for many medical applications, cannot be stored with simple cooling or freezing for a long time because ice crystal formation, osmotic shock, and membrane damage during freezing and thawing will cause cell death. The successful cryopreservation of cells and tissues has been gradually increasing in recent years, with the use of cryoprotective agents and temperature control equipment. Continuous understanding of the physical and chemical properties that occur in the freezing and thawing cycle will be necessary for the successful cryopreservation of cells or tissues and their clinical applications. In this review, we briefly address representative cryopreservation processes, such as slow freezing and vitrification, and the available cryoprotective agents. In addition, some adverse effects of cryopreservation are mentioned.

  • Application of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for assessment of pulmonary disease has been limited, due to susceptibility to cardiac pulsation, respiratory motion, and inhomogeneity of the magnetic field of the lung. With technical advances of MRI and unmet clinical needs for more accurate diagnosis and assessment of the disease, however, the use of MRI for evaluation of the lung has broadened. Herein, we present a case of pneumonic-type lung adenocarcinoma in a patient with history of anaphylactic shock to iodinated contrast medium, in which MRI played a critical role for targeted lung biopsy and cancer staging. Through this paper, we would like to report potential value of MRI in assessment of lung cancer.

  • Several observational results show a tighter pitch angle at wavelengths of optical and near-infrared than those that are associated with star formation, which is in agreement with the prediction of the density wave theory. In my recent numerical studies, the dependence of the shock positions relative to the potential minima is due to the tendency that stronger shocks form farther downstream. This causes a systematic variation of the perpendicular Mach number, with radius and makes the pitch angle of the gaseous arms smaller than that of the stellar arms, which supports the prediction of the density-wave theory, independently. However, some observations still give controversial results which show similar pitch angles at wavelengths, and there is no statistical study comparing observations and numerical models directly. By analyzing optical image of disk galaxies in the Carnegie-Irvine Galaxy Survey (CGS), I measured the physical values of stellar and gaseous arms such as their strength, length, and pitch angles. For direct comparison with numerical results, I analyzed more than 30 additional numerical models with varying the initial parameters in model galaxies. In this talk, I will present results both of observational and numerical samples and discuss the physical properties of spiral structures based on the density-wave theory.

  • Anisomycin is known to inhibit eukaryotic protein synthesis and has been established as an antibiotic and anticancer drug. However, the molecular targets of anisomycin and its mechanism of action have not been explained in macrophages. Here, we demonstrated the anti-inflammatory effects of anisomycin both in vivo and in vitro. We found that anisomycin decreased the mortality rate of macrophages in cecal ligation and puncture (CLP)- and lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute sepsis. It also declined the gene expression of proinflammatory mediators such as inducible nitric oxide synthase, tumor necrosis factor-α, and interleukin-1β as well as the nitric oxide and proinflammatory cytokines production in macrophages subjected to LPS-induced acute sepsis. Furthermore, anisomycin attenuated nuclear factor (NF)-κB activation in LPS-induced macrophages, which correlated with the inhibition of phosphorylation of NF-κB-inducing kinase and IκB kinase, phosphorylation and IκBα proteolytic degradation, and NF-κB p65 subunit nuclear translocation. These results suggest that anisomycin prevented acute inflammation by inhibiting NF-κB-related inflammatory gene expression and could be a potential therapeutic candidate for sepsis.

  • Plasma density in semiconductor fabrication equipment becomes higher to achieve the improved the throughput of the process, but the increase of surface corrosion of the ceramic coated chamber wall has been observed by the increased plasma density. Plasma chamber wall coating with aerosol deposition prefer to be firm and uniform to prevent the potential creation of particle inside the chamber from the deformation of the coating materials, and the aerosol discharge nozzle is a good control factor for the deposited coating condition. In this paper, we investigated the design of the nozzle of the aerosol deposition to form a high-quality coating film. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) study was employed to minimize boundary layer effect and shock wave. The degree of expansion, and design of simulation approach was applied to found out the relationship between the divergence angle and nozzle length as the key parameter for the nozzle design. We found that the trade-off tendency between divergence angle and nozzle length through simulation and quantitative analysis, and present the direction of nozzle design that can improve the uniformity of chamber wall coating.
