The Effects of Child Gender and Temperament, Husbands' Support, and Mothers'Psychological Well-Being on Maternal Parenting Behaviors toward oddlers (아동의 성 및 기질, 남편의 양육지지와 어머니의 심리적 복지감이 걸음마기 아동에 대한 어머니의 양육태도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of child gender and temperament, husbands’ support, and mothers’ psychological well-being on maternal parenting behaviors toward toddlers. Mothers of 214 toddlers responded to questionnaires on the following variables: child temperament, husbands’ support, psychological wellbeing and parenting behaviors. Hierarchical regression analysis revealed that: 1) Children being negative emotionality linked with mothers’ high controlling and rejective parenting behaviors and low responsive parenting behaviors directly and indirectly via mothers’ psychological well-being; 2) Husbands’ support was linked with mothers’ low controlling and rejective behaviors through mothers’ high psychological well-being; 3) Mothers’ low psychological well-being was linked to high mothers’ controlling and rejective parenting. The results of this study underscore mothers’ psychological well-being and husbands’ parenting support in predicting mothers’positive parenting.

The Effects of Perceived Family Strengths and Friend Attachment on Psychological Well-being among College Students (대학생이 지각한 가족건강성과 친구애착이 심리적 안녕에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives: The main purpose of this study was to examine how family strengths affect friend attachment and psychological well-being among college students and to analyze the relative influence of these two variables on psychological well-being. Method: Data were collected by self-administered questionnaire method from 362 university students in four different regions. The data were analyzed through various statistical methods such as t and F tests, Pearson's correlation analyses, and multiple regression analyses. Results: First, there were significant differences in the level of psychological well-being according to gender and the monthly family income, showing that males and higher family income group reported greater psychogocal-well-being level. Males also reported lower level of anxious attachment. Second, correlational analyses results indicated that college students' psychological well-being was positively related with family strengths and secure attachment, and was negatively correlated with avoidant and anxious attachment. Finally, the results of hierarchical multiple regression analyses indicated that college student's psychological well-being was influenced by family communication, secure attachment, and anxious attachment, showing that anxious attachment was the most influential variable. Conclusions: This study suggests the importance of providing education and/or counseling services focusing on strengthening the positive relationship with their friends and on increasing the family communication for college students' psychological well-being.

Research on Change of Heart Rate Variability and Psychological Scale by Sasang Constitution according to before and after of the Meditation Programs (α version) (명상프로그램(α version) 시행 전후의 사상체질별 심리척도 및 HRV 변화 연구)

  • Objectives: In this study, the meditation programs (${\alpha}$ version), which are properly coordinated according to the motion, breathing, and relaxation, are evaluated and researched upon to have positive effects on stress and in the area of psychology. Methods: Approved by the Clinical Trials Deliberation Committee in Oriental Medicine, Dongguk University, Ilsan Hospital, this study collected data according to the applicant's consents, demographic information and anthropometry for the Sasang Constitutional diagnosis. Sasang Constitutional diagnosis measured the beta tools by Institute of Oriental Medicine and a decision tree was made for the Sasang Constitutional questionnaires. The STAI, STAXI, BDI, and HRV were measured before and after the meditation in order to compare the effects of meditation according to Sasang Constitution. The HRV was used as a ProComP KM Tech (co). Results: 1) The positive changes available in the Time-domain analysis of heart rate variability assessment showed that the peace of mind is increased. By analyzing the Sasang constitution, So-eum In's peace of mind included a physical stability of the autonomic nervous system. 2) According to the psychological scale evaluation, each depression scale, trait anger, anger-in, state anxiety and trait anxiety index proved significantly positive effects. By analyzing the Sasang constitution, Eun-In which involved So-eum In and Tae-eum In, had positive effects. 3) The psychological scale changed the group of diagnosed depression or anxiety, it did not mean that the psychological scale changes in the depression group, but the index of the anxiety group had been significantly reduced. This program had clinical effects for anxious patients and Eum-In which involved Tae-eum In and So-eum In according to the analysis of Sasang constitution. 4) Correlations between the gender of each psychological scale showed that women have overall low correlations, but, there were no significant changes. Conclusions: The meditation program developed by adequately mixing Action, relaxation and breathing shows that it is effective for overall Eum-in physical and mental relaxation and concentration. In the future, It will have to be developed Meditation program to show the same effect for all people.

The Effects of Emotional Intelligence, Self-Leadership, Psychological Well-being to Academic Achievement of Nursing College Student (간호대학생의 감성지능, 셀프리더십, 심리적 안녕감이 학업성취도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of emotional intelligence, self-leadership, and psychological well-being on academic achievement among nursing college students. The subjects included college students in various cities. A total of 199 students were analyzed in the study. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. The findings show that behavioral strategy, a subarea of self-leadership, self-motivation ability, a subarea of emotional intelligence, and autonomy and positive interpersonal relationship, two subareas of psychological well-being, had significant effects on their academic achievement and had an explanatory power of 13.0%. The study examined relationships between academic achievement and general characteristics and found differences in academic achievement according to gender and grade. Academic achievement had positive correlations with self-motivation ability, a subarea of emotional intelligence, behavioral strategy, a subarea of self-leadership, and autonomy and positive interpersonal relationship, two subareas of psychological well-being. In short, there is a need to develop programs that help nursing college students improve their behavioral strategy of self-leadership, self-motivation ability of emotional intelligence, and their autonomy and positive interpersonal relationship of psychological well-being, for high academic achievement.

The Relationship of Privacy Violation and Psychological Distance in Korean Ubiquitous Government Service (한국 유비쿼터스 정부 서비스에서의 사생활 침해와 심리적 거리와의 관계)

  • Today the u-government services are becoming more personalized and intelligent. For the successful implementation of personalization, individual user's privacy concerns must be respected and taken care of. Based on the empirical survey results, this research summarizes the reluctance to the government's use of private information using six categories. We measure user's psychological distance toward e-government using the four levels, adopting the suggestions by the Proxemics. Since a positive correlation is Identified between people's psychological Intimacy toward e-government and their tolerance to the use of private Information, the amount and/or types of private information should be sequentially used in personalization systems. Initially allowing the least intolerable private information such as occupation information, the personalization system should additionally use the next tolerable Information such as health information or service request/interest information, as user's psychological distance toward government services becomes shorter.

Factor Affecting Adjustment of Freshmen Nursing Students to College Life (간호대 신입생의 대학생활적응에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the factor affecting adjustment of freshmen nursing students to college life. Method: The data were collected from questionnaires filled out by 265 nursing students six schools from all parts of the country from May 19 to June 4, 2010. Data was analyzed by the SPSS (frequency, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis) program. Results: A positive correlation was found for college adjustment with psychological well-being, coping and mother attachment. The strongest predictor of college adjustment was an psychological well-being. In addition psychological well-being, coping, and contact frequency for interview with professor accounted for 39.2% of variance in college adjustment. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that development of psychological well-being and coping in nursing students is important to college adjustment. Further research in improving psychological well-being and coping is warranted.

The Psychological Characteristics of the Unemployed, and the Negative Emotions and Behavioral Changes in Their Children (실직자의 심리적 특성과 자녀의 부정적 정서 및 행동 변화)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the psychological characteristics of the unemployed, and their children's negative emotions and behavioral changes in the context of the increasing family dysfunction caused by the IMF economic crisis. The subjects were 184 public labor workers in Busan. They answered the questions about the psychological characteristics of themselves and their children, and their children's behavioral changes. Frequency analysis, $\chi$$^2$ test and logistic regression were used for data analyses. The results were as follows. The unemployed showed high levels of negative emotions and perceived their social supports as low. As well, they interpreted their quality of life as poor. They perceived their economic difficulty as high and the perception was influenced by negative emotions as well as the economic situation. Children of the unemployed showed middle levels of negative emotions, and positive and negative behavioral changes. These changes were influenced by their parent's psychological characteristics. In light of these results, psychological counseling services from social welfare centers are needed to be more actively supporting the families of the unemployed.

A Study on stress coping strategies and psychological outcomes of dual-career wives (전문직 취업주부의 스트레스와 대처방안 심리적결과에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships among role conflict coping strategy and psychological distress of dual-career wives. In order to achieve the study purpose the theoretical model of this study was built on the basis of relevant theories and previous studies, Especially it was influenced by the ABCX model of family stress proposed by Hill, Data were collected from 229 dual-career wives such as professors doctors lawyers teachers pharmacists and nurses. The results were as follows: 1. Role conflict was negatively correlated to self-esteem and positively correlated to psychological distress. 2) in terms of a main effect coping strategy was positively correlated to self-esteem and negatively correlated to psychological distress. 3) In terms of interaction effect coping strategy did not show any significant effect against the negative impacts of role conflict on self-esteem and it on the whole did not whole a significant effect against the positive impacts of role conflict of psychological distress.

Working Mother′s Parenting Behavior as Related to Job Characteristics, Day Care Quality, and Psychological Well-being (취업모의 직업관련 특성, 탁아기판의 질 및 심리적 안녕감이 양육행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine working mothers'parenting behavior as related to job characteristics, day care quality and psychological well-being. The subjects of this study were 202 working mothers of 3-to-6 year old children enrolled in day care centers. Data were gathered via questionnaires responded by mothers. As results, both mother's psychological well-being and parenting behaviors were positively related to job characteristics such as husband's support and work place policy and day care Quality Most significantly, the relations between husband's support as well as day care Quality and mother's behaviors were completely mediated via mother's psychological well-being. This study demonstrated that working mothers'psychological well -being is an important mediating variable in predicting positive child-rearing behaviors.

Perceptions of Socio-Psychological Factors of Outdoor Spaces in Apartment Complex (아파트 단지환경의 사회심리적 요소에 관한 거주자 인식 - 부산시 해운대 지역 신시가지 아파트를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of the study was to examine the socio-psychological factors of outdoor spaces in apartment complex. The data for the empirical analysis were collected from 412 households living in Haeundae New Town, Busan, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and one-way analysis of variance and Duncan's multiple range test. The socio-psychological factors abstracted were territoriality, privacy, safety, sociality, accessibility, and identity. It was found that the households were generally positive to the overall socio-psycological factors in the current apartment complex. The significant explanatory variables for the responses to the socio-psychological factors were age of the wife, education of the wife, occupation of the wife, tenure type, monthly household income, length of residence, and overall satisfaction with outdoor spaces.
