  • Purpose - This study was conducted to evaluate service quality, perceived value, and satisfaction in the performing arts in order to establish a system of relationships that predicts repurchase intention, which increasingly needs to be studied as the domestic performing arts market grows. Research design, data, and methodology - Another purpose of this study is to identify 'work-related factors' and 'performing-arts-related factors' in the performing arts industry, and to observe the influence of the core SQ factors expected to influence audiences' purchase intentions through perceived value and customer satisfaction. The empirical study to test the hypothesis was based on a review of the literature and employed the survey method; data were collected from a total of 500 audience members. Results - The major results of the analysis are as follows. First, in terms of quality factors affecting perceived value, literary quality, level, professionalism, and musical quality were shown to have a significant influence as key factors from the performing arts perspective, while reliability, convenience, and related costs were indicated to exert a significant influence as additional factors related to work. Secondly, the quality factors with a significant influence on customer satisfaction were literary quality, professionalism, and musical quality, which were shown to have a significant influence from the performing arts perspective, while only reliability was indicated to exert a significant influence on work-related factors. Third, perceived value was shown to have a strong positive (+) influence on customer satisfaction, with both perceived value and customer satisfaction exerting a significant influence on the revisit intention. Finally, according to the results a difference analysis with demographic variables, viewing variables as moderating variables, differences according to gender were indicated in the influence of literary value and lel on perceived value, and in the influence of convenience and professionalism on customer satisfaction as well. Also, in terms of the influence of perceived value on customer satisfaction, males were found to be more influenced than females. Conclusions - Based on the above results, the suggested implications of the present study are as follows. First, through the consideration of not only the crucial work perspective in performing arts services, which has been inadequate in the past, but the additional performance-related level, the previously unevenly distributed viewpoints were expanded for application. Second, in verifying the relationship between expanded quality factors and the factors that determine consumer behavior while simultaneously considering key factors and additional related factors, work-related service quality factors were shown to exert a stronger influence on perceived value and customer satisfaction than performance-related factors. Third, for service factors related to performance, the reliability factor exerts an influence on perceived value and customer satisfaction, requiring that a performance planner secure and manage diverse channels to immediately support customer requests in providing performance theater services.

  • This study was conducted to examine the differences of anger expression style and cognitive characteristics among adolescents depending on the level of game addiction and game engagement. 420 high school boys were administered the Game Addiction/Engagement Scale, Behavioral Anger Response Questionnaire to measure anger expression style, and Irrational Belief Scale to measure cognitive characteristics. The results of correlation analyses showed that addiction had positive correlations with all the irrational belief factors and behavior anger factors except for assertion and avoidance. Engagement was positively correlated with all the variables except for direct anger-out, avoidance, and self-downing. Participants were divided into three groups depending on the level of addiction and engagement. Addiction high risk-low engagement group showed the lowest scores on support-seeking and the highest scores on diffusion and self-downing. Addiction high risk-high engagement group showed the highest scores on direct anger-out. Based on these findings, it was suggested that counselling strategies for adolescents at high risk of game addiction need to be varied depending on the level of game engagement.

  • This paper investigated the effects of wind stress forcing in the western North Pacific on ENSO decadal change before and after the late 1970s. The SVD analysis of SODA data shows that a positive wind stress curl is dominant in the western North Pacific at the ENSO mature phase, which leads to the ENSO phase change by discharge/recharge heat contents in the equatorial Pacific. Before the late 1970s, the wind stress curl in the western North Pacific was strong. This strong wind forcing that is associated with the fast discharge of heat contents in the equator led to the short period and the weak intensity of ENSO occurred during the 1960-1970. On the other hand, after the late 1970s the relatively weak wind stress curl was accompanied with the long period and the strong intensity of ENSO. The simple coupled model experiments also confirm that the amplitude and dominant period of ENSO decrease when the wind stress curl in the western North Pacific projects more strongly into the ocean at the TNSO mature phase. Our results support that the changes in the behavior of ENSO after the late 1970s are associated with the wind stress variation in the western North Pacific.

  • This study was performed to figure out the level of anxiety and relating factors of ICU patients as the hospitalization in ICU grows more recently. Data collection was conducted from July 1st to August 31st, 2001. The subjects of this study were consisted of 101 ICU patients who were selected according to the criteria in S hospital, C city. The instruments of the research were consisted of 14 questions of general characteristics, 20 items of STAI, VAS, 24 questions for the anxiety relating factors. And data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, and pearson correlation for group difference and correlation with SPSS Win 10.0 program. The followings were the results of the study: 1. In the anxiety level, mean score on STAI was 53.7(item mean $2.69{\pm}.83$), and mean score on VAS was 5.23. It means that the anxiety level of ICU patients was moderate. 2. Among the relating factors of anxiety, the most highest scores were 'by seeing other patient's emergency situation' and 'by seeing other patient's death' figured 3.85 and 3.79 each. And the lowest marks were 'by the unkind behavior of doctors and nurses'(2.13) and 'nurses' or doctors' indifferent actions'(2.21). And the anxiety according to the environmental factor was the highest (3.17) and the anxiety regarding to the human relationship was the lowest (2.53). 3. In the anxiety level STAI according to the general characteristics, the patients who didn't have to take care of their family showed more anxiety than who had to take care of their family(t=-2.38, p=.02). And the variables that shows a significant difference on VAS was sex and women's anxiety was higher than men's level (t=-2.56, p=.01). 4. When the physical anxiety level was compared, the patients who had to take care of their family showed more anxiety than the people who didn't have to take care of their family(t=-1.95, p=.05). In the level of anxiety relating the human relationship, the patients who had religion showed more anxiety than patients who didn't(t=2.43 p=.02). And the married patients(t=2.43, p=.01) and more educated people(F=3.77, p=.01) showed more anxiety. Even though environmental anxiety was the highest factor, it was not significant with general characteristics. 5. The anxiety and relating factors showed positive significant relationship, and physical anxiety factor showed the strongest relation with STAI(r=.21, p<.01). And VAS level showed stronger relation with every factor of the anxiety than STAI. When the VAS level became higher, the anxiety relating to physical factor(r=.72, p<.01), human relationship(r=.63, P<.01), and environment became higher. According to the above result, the environmental anxiety was the highest level than other factors in ICU patient and thus the environmental nursing intervention becomes very important in ICU. Also nurses in ICU have to support the patients who showed higher level of anxiety in this study and try to develop the nursing intervention to relieve the anxiety of patients. And it is recommended that VAS is convenient and practical instrument for measuring the anxiety level in ICU patients.

  • Since walking and physical activity are critical for older adults to maintain their health, it is important to provide neighborhood environments which encourage their walking in daily life. The purposes of the present study were to investigate walking activity patterns of older people in an urban setting and to identify environmental correlates with walking of older adults. This study examined spatial and temporal patterns of physical activities, environmental barriers and motivations, satisfaction levels and demands on the physical environment. In-depth interviews with older adults over age sixty residing in Seoul metropolitan areas revealed that most respondents have a positive perception on walking in daily life, and many of them walk regularly for their health. A primary purpose of walking for older adults was exercise for health rather than transportation. The study result demonstrated that parks and trails were the most preferred places for walking by older adults, and there is an association between frequency of walking participation and access or convenience to parks, traffic safety, and street lights. Most respondents were concerned about traffic safety when they walk in their neighborhoods due to traffic speeds and unsafe streets. Lack of separate sidewalks or benches, stairs and slopes were barriers to older adults' walking habits. This data suggests that the promotion of walking behavior among older adults, some level of public health action, and community support are needed to ensure safe physical environments within communities.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the home economics pre-service teachers' verbal interactions during their teaching practicum. For this purpose, the class interactions of four pre-service teachers were recorded, and the data were analyzed using advanced Flanders' verbal interaction analysis. The major findings are as follows: First, the item with the highest proportion of occurrences consisted of the pre-service teachers' 'lectures', 'nonverbal conditions' and 'asks questions'. 'forms a positive learning atmosphere' and 'praises or encourages' exhibited fewer occurrences, and there was little 'giving direction', 'criticizing students or justifying authority'. Second, the instances of class interactions appeared in the form of 'asks questions-student talk response' or 'lecture-asks questions', and in the last class were 'ask questions-student talk initiation' and 'accepts or uses ideas of students'. Third, trends of verbal interactions tend to be generally indirect, and students' remarks have appeared acceptable and compassionate. Fourth, according to expert analysis, 'class management questions' and 'diffusion questions' have increased. Pre-service teachers can guide students through their learning activities, and students can expand their thinking through the teachers' questions. As these results demonstrate, self-study analyses of pre-service teachers and active support in field are needed.

  • This study was designed for middle school students in Su-Won City to find out their level of hope in environmental education and who had not been introduced to environmental skills and knowledge as a separate subject in their school curriculum. Additionally, the result of the study was expected to provide basic environmental education material to teachers who are on the front line in our environmental education efforts. The mother used to be very influential on her children's thinking and behavior to a large degree. Acknowledging these facts, students and their mothers were chosen for this study The questionnaire from each of the two groups were compared and studied. The questionnaire, comprised of 23 questions, was completed during the period of time from March 6 through March 11, 2000. The schools that participated in the study were 5 junior high schools in Su-Won City and the participants were students and their mothers. The questionnaires were given to 450 students and their mothers to be completed and returned. A total of 379 student questionnaires and 323 mother questionnaires were received for examination. The results of questionnaire were analyzed by using SPSS/PC 8.0 software program with Frequencies Analysis, Mean Analysis, Reliability Analysis, Correlation Analysis, Paired Samples T-test, and $\chi$$^2$-test. The questionnaires generated the following results. The reliability coefficient was 0.847 from the students and 0.895 from the mothers. The level of interest in an environmental education curriculum was 24.3% from students and 86.0% from mothers. Interestingly, the gender difference of level of interest in an environmental education curriculum was 25.7% from male and 23.1% from female. The difference in the environmental function levels between female and male students was statistically significant(t=-4.109, p<0.001). For mathematical skills in environmental functions, the students and mothers thought trash, air pollution, and lack of forest were problems however they showed inactive support and unreasonable attitudes toward the problems that they themselves pointed to for solving the problems. Under the environmental problems solving issue, the significance between two groups was 0.014(P<0.001) and the result dictates there was no correlation. The t-test showed no difference in environmental knowledge level between student genders. The knowledge level between students and mothers was related each other. The Paired Sample t-test between students versus mothers on environmental skills and knowledge was 0.000*(*P<0.001) and it showed there was correlation between the two groups. With this study, educating mothers should be noticed as a great priority in environmental education that will lead to a more positive environmental outlook from our students.
