  • Objectives: Time location data are critical for accurately estimating personal exposures. This review papers summarized various measurement methods of time location pattern for air pollution exposure assessment. Methods: Forty manuscripts (papers, books and reports) were reviewed to comprehensively describe time location measurement methods. Results: This review included traditional methods such as time activity diary, questionnaire, observation, focus group and newly developed technical methods including global positioning system, web, radio frequency identification and ultrasound detection. Some research applied a combination of methods. Conclusion: Although various methods have been used to collect time location data, further development of accurate measurement methods for time location data is needed.

  • This paper proposes a gradation image processing method for the development of a Road Sign Recognition Platform (RReP), which aims to facilitate the rapid and accurate management and surveying of approximately 160,000 road signs installed along the highways, national roadways, and local roads in the cities, districts (gun), and provinces (do) of Korea. RReP is based on GPS(Global Positioning System), IMU(Inertial Measurement Unit), INS(Inertial Navigation System), DMI(Distance Measurement Instrument), and lasers, and uses an imagery information collection/classification module to allow the automatic recognition of signs, the collection of shapes, pole locations, and sign-type data, and the creation of road sign registers, by extracting basic data related to the shape and sign content, and automated database design. Image division and merging, which were applied in this study, produce superior results compared with local binarization method in terms of speed. At the results, larger texts area were found in images, the accuracy of text recognition was improved when images had been gradated. Multi-threshold values of natural scene images are used to improve the extraction rate of texts and figures based on pattern recognition.

  • The movement range and diurnal behavior of red seabream (Chrysophrys major) tagged by the ultrasonic pinger externally were measured by acoustic telemetry techniques in the marine ranch of Tongyeong on 20 March to 30 October, 2003. The movement of fishes was monitored with the radio-acoustic linked positioning (RAP) buoy system and VR2 receivers. The test fishes showed behavior. pattern going to deep waters and returning to shallow waters. They moved gradually to deep waters as time goes by. They had a tendency to move wider range in night-time than day-time. It was found that the test fishes rarely showed a significant response to the artificial reefs.

  • In this letter, the null steering of a circular array is presented using a modified array factor (AF) for a global positioning system (GPS) anti-jam. The seven radiating elements were designed using a mu-zero resonance (MZR) circularly polarized (CP) antenna arranged toward the center. Since the radiating elements, which are arranged toward the center, have a CP characteristic, the AF of the seven radiating elements has to be modified considering the rotation angle of the nth radiating element. The phases of input ports can be calculated to implement a nulling of radiation patterns where the modified AF is zero. To verify the modified AF for null steering in the desired direction, two cases of power dividers operating in $L_2$ band (1.2276 GHz) were fabricated to achieve pattern nulling at a certain angle. The modified AF can be confirmed by a comparing the simulated and measured radiation patterns.

  • Skilled typists can type characters or wrds without looking at keyboard, relying on the finger´s relative position. If the relative positions of the fingers can be identified, a virtual keyboard may be accomplished by applying the concept of "DataGlove" or "FingerRing". The virtual keyboard may be efficient as a new mobile input device supporting QWERTY keyboard layout. For the purpose of investigating skilled typing pattern, in this paper the touch-positions of the fingers are measured with a touchscreen while four skilled typists type a long sentence. From these measurements it can be observed that the groups of touch-positions are classified into alphabet characters. Though there are some overlapped groups we can find constant distances capable of being discriminated ...

  • Pervasive applications such as digital memories or patient monitors collect a vast amount of data. One key challenge in these systems is how to extract interesting or unusual information. Because users cannot anticipate their future interests in the data when the data is stored, it is hard to provide appropriate indexes. As location-tracking technologies, such as global positioning system, have become ubiquitous, digital cameras or other pervasive systems record location information along with the data. In this paper, we present an automatic approach to identify unusual data using location information. Given the location information, our system identifies unusual days, that is, days with unusual mobility patterns. We evaluated our detection system using a real wireless trace, collected at wireless access points, and demonstrated its capabilities. Using our system, we were able to identify days when mobility patterns changed and differentiate days when a user followed a regular pattern from the rest. We also discovered general mobility characteristics. For example, most users had one or more repeating mobility patterns, and repeating mobility patterns did not depend on certain days of the week, except that weekends were different from weekdays.

  • In this paper, suggested is a hybrid-type visual alignment system to align mask and panel in 3-D space, where mask and panel are to be controlled independently by two individual positioning mechanisms in order to compensate for spatial misalignments. In the hybrid visual alignment system, the below 4-PPR parallel mechanism provides in-plain motions to pattern mask like the other conventional alignment systems while the above 4-RPS parallel mechanism is to move glass panel to achieve a complete spatial alignment. For the control of the hybrid alignment system, first, inverse kinematic solutions for the parallel mechanisms are given to determine the driving distance of each active joint, and also an efficient way to determine the spatial alignment error is developed by exploiting three in-plane cameras.

  • In this paper, we present a BLDC Motor control for needle positioning and velocity control in the industrial sewing machine. In the industrial sewing machine, the fast acceleration control is needed, especially for a person who has a skill in operation of sewing machine for more products. And it is also needed to have a less noise and vibration. But the system which is made in a low price has no feedback system for a current control. Therefore we propose the method of velocity pattern that has an acceleration of velocity and Anti-windup algorithm. By the experiment, we confirmed that these manner have a good performance for low noise, low vibration and fast acceleration in the industrial sewing machine.

실제 연세대학교 캠퍼스 내에서 실제 대학원생의 생활을 모델로 GPS(Global Positioning System) 데이터를 수집하여. 이동패턴을 모델링하고 개별화된 서비스를 제공함으로써 제안하는 방법의 유용성을 검증하였다.

  • The beta-turn has been implicated as an important conformation for biological recognition of peptides or proteins. We adapted the concept of general Ca atom positioning from the cluster analysis and recombination of each ideal beta-turn conformation pattern by Garland and Dean (1. Computer-Aided Molecular Design, 1999, 13, 469) as one strategy of designing non-peptide beta-turn scaffolds. (omitted)
