Objective: This work aims to investigate the therapeutic regimen of brain metastatic cancers and the relationship between clinical features and prognosis. Methods: Clinical data of 184 patients with brain metastatic cancers were collected and analysed for the relationship between survival time and age, gender, primary diseases, quantity of brain metastatic foci, their position, extra cranial lesions, and therapeutic regimens. Results: The average age of onset was 59.1 years old. The median survival time (MST) was 15.0 months, and the patients with breast cancer as the primary disease had the longest survival time. Females had a longer survival time than males. Patients with meningeal metastasis had extremely short survival time. Those with less than 3 brain metastatic foci survived longer than patients with more than 3. The MST of patients receiving radiotherapy only and the patients receiving chemotherapy only were all 10.0 months while the MST of patients receiving combination therapy was 16.0 months. Multiple COX regression analysis demonstrated that gender, primary diseases, and quantity of brain metastatic foci were independent prognostic factors for brain metastatic cancers. Conclusions: Chemotherapy is as important as radiotherapy in the treatment of brain metastatic cancer. Combination therapy is the best treatment mode. Male gender, brain metastatic cancers originating in the gastrointestinal tract, more than 3 metastatic foci, and involvement of meninges indicate a worse prognosis.
Purposes: The purpose of this study was to analyze the association between discrimination experience and quality of life among non-regular workers in hospitals. Methodology: The data was collected from 292 employees of 7 university hospitals using a standardized questionnaire. In research methodology, the data was analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, pearson's correlation, multiple regression analysis. Findings: In case of non-regular workers, inequality of distribution, position unfairness, employment instability, number of discrimination experiences were found to have a negative(-) effect on quality of life. Religion, income in general characteristics had a significant positive(+) effect on quality of life. And the discrimination of non-regular woman workers was higher and the quality of life was lower than that of men. Practical Implications: These results showed that hospitals needed active efforts to create non-regular woman-friendly work environment. In addition, active religious activities gave emotional stability and positive effect to no-regular workers.

Those in the 30-39 rears of age group demonstrated significantly higher level of conflict between departments. Those working in the new hospitals, who were older and had long-term tenure, and those with short-term job experience at current working hospital had higher level of conflict between the departments with statistical significance. 2. Concerning the involvement of conflicting factors and the level of conflict in the administration there was statistically significant positive correlation between reliability and job-related intra- and interdepartmental level of conflict in existing hospitals. There was a significant positive correlation between intradepartmental conflicting factors of mutual dependence, difference in goal/orientation and intra- and interdepartmental level of conflict. 3. In multivariate regression analysis, women more than men, and those who had worked for many years in hospitals had statistically significant influence on factors involved in interdepartmental level of conflict, explaining 51.0% of the model. 4. In existing hospitals, gender was a significant factor with women showing a higher level of interdepartmental conflict compared to men. Among the interdepartmental factors, mutual dependence had statistically significant influence and showed a positive relationship with interdepartmental level of conflict. In the new hospitals, job position was a significant factor which showed that those in high position such as section chief or above, compared to those in managerial or general position had higher level of conflict. Among the interdepartmental characteristics, factors of mutual dependence and goal/orientation had statistically significant influence and showed a positive relationship with interdepartmental level of conflict. In the new hospital setting efforts to reduce conflict in areas among workers with high position, old age, and long tenure and those in Purchasing, Material and Computer Department should be made and prudent management and planning for improved manpower and increased budget or efficient allocation and clear definition of job description are necessary to adequately assess and make improved efforts for rapid stabilization of the premature hospital system from its inception, In the existing hospitals a lack of conflict within and between departments may give rise to stagnation or inefficiency of the organization. The purpose of this study is to explore how the organizational structure of hospitals affects the pattern of conflicts between human resources at hospitals and then to present basic data necessary for conflict resolution. Research data were collected from the personnel of 14 hospitals in P city in Korea. The findings of the study are summed up as follows. First, administrative workers and with fewer years of service thought of the organizational structure as organic. Second, organizational conflict was found to be higher in those at older ages, with more years of service and in middle management positions. Next, as for conflict patterns between occupation types, nurses showed more conflicts with doctors and administrative workers, while administrative workers and public health personnel had more conflicts with nurses. Last, of the organizational structure factors, 'Subdivision of work,' 'Decision making method,' 'Opinion collection process,' 'Codification of responsibilities and rights' and 'Documentation of duties' were found to have negative effects on conflict patterns. Therefore, the findings imply that for decrease in organizational conflicts, hospitals need to be reorganized to have a more organic structure and take such differentiated measures for conflict resolution that consider characteristics of human resources, such as one's age, years of service and position.
Organizational culture has been, by and large, regarded as one of the most significant factors to manage organizations. Especially the understanding of empowerment is pivotal, leading to explain organizational cultures. For hospital workers whose services are closely related to quality and performance of their hospitals, empowerment is now called upon more than ever before. This study is intended to investigate the relationship between organizational culture types and hospital workers' empowerment levels. The data were collected from 589 hospital workers at one university hospital and two general hospitals using the self reported questionnaire from Jan.9 to Jan.20 in 2004. The findings were as follows: 1. Empowerment levels were significantly different among the four organizational culture types. Developmental culture group showed the highest empowerment score(3.74), and next were group culture(3.64), rational culture(3.62), and hierarchial culture(3.46). 2. There was a significantly positive correlation between group culture and empowerment(r=.298, p<.000), between developmental culture and empowerment(r=.295, p<.000). But there was not a significantly correlation between hierarchial culture, and between rational culture. 3. According to the multiple regression analysis, self-esteem(${\beta}$=.417, p<.001), position (${\beta}$=-.190, p<.001), self-control(${\beta}$=.185, p<.001), and age(${\beta}$=.169, p<.01) were significant among general properties for organizational empowerment. As for organizational cultures, developmental culture(${\beta}$=.165, p<.001), group culture(${\beta}$=.099, p<.01), and rational culture (${\beta}$=.063, p<.05) were significant other than hierarchial culture. In conclusion, it is necessary to promote group culture and developmental culture to enhance hospital worker's empowerment level, and this article elucidates that understanding the organizational culture embedded in each organization is important for efficient management of organization.
The purpose of this study is to review in light at women's subjective. Perceptions of manifestations Premenstrual Syndrome which are known to affect their labor productivity. To this end, 364 women workers were sampled from an industrial factory located in Chonan, Chungchongnam-do and supervised by health manager, through questionnaires, and collected data were processed using SPSS package program. The result of survey can be summarized as follows: The fact that some academic circles are recently raising the issue of premenstrual syndrome. Suggests that the syndrome is being accepted in academic terms, which is contary to the position that the syndrome is just the result of women's mental imagination. However, some factors which are concived to affect woman worker' productivity and efficiency seem to be related to their subjective psychological variables involving their working environment rather than their physiological variabls. Therefore, if a health-promotion program handling their subjective psychological variables be introduced, some factors caused by the pre-menstrual syndroml may be reduced thus increasing their working productivity and. efficiency around their menstrual days.
