Three neonates with interrupted aortic arch with VSD underwent one stage repair using revised technique of cardiopulmonary bypass with short period of circulatory arrest. A left posterolateral thoracotomy was made to permit mobilization of the descending aorta and placement of polytetrafluoroethylene[PTFE graft for distal aortic perfusion. Then the patient was placed in the supine position and a median sternotomy was performed to permit the proximal dissection, VSD repair, and direct anastomosis between the ascending aorta and descending aorta. This technique has advantages to facilitate direct anastomosis between the ascending aorta and the descending aorta, to lessen circulatory arrest time, and to prevent dangerous laceration and post-operative narrowing of the thin small ascending aorta at cannulation site. There was no operative mortality but postoperative stenosis developed in one case which was relieved with balloon aortoplasty.

Lanthanum oxyfluoride can be synthesized by mechanochemical (MC) reaction between lanthanum oxide ($La_2O_3$) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, ($({CF_2CF_2}_n)$) in air using a planetary mill. MC reaction between the two materials induced from intensive grinding operation. The MC reaction is almost finished by 240min, and the products ground for 240min or more are composed of LaOF, amorphous $La(CO_3)F$ and amorphous carbon (C). Heating this MC reaction products at $600^{\circ}C$ enables us to eliminate amorphous C and decompose $La(CO_3)F$ into LaOF, so that pure LaOF material can be obtained as the final product. The average particle size of the final product (purified LaOF) is around few ten nanometers.
The aim of the present study is the characteristics of bridge rubber pads and suggested how to determine the stiffness the pads. A disk bearing is operated as an elastic bearing in the vertical direction and is composed of a Polyether Urethane (polyurethane) disk for elastic support and Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) to accommodate movement. Static tests are conducted in a laboratory to determine the static behavior of a Polyurethane disk. Finite Element (FE) analysis is also performed to verify the static performance. For dynamic behavior, four disk bearings having the identical Polyurethane disk used in the static tests are installed in a full size railway bridge and tested under a running locomotive. From the tests results, the static and dynamic stiffness of disk bearings are estimated and compared with each other. In the procedure to estimate the stiffness of a pad, the dead load(pre-load) of a bridge and live load of a vehicle are considered.

Friction material, an integral constituent of bearing supports, facilitates frictional interactions between two components. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), a commonly employed friction material in bearing supports, has assessed resultant friction equilibrium. Nonetheless, protracted utilization diminishes frictional performance as the lubricating agent is progressively depleted. Friction materials can affect the entire structural system. Hence, this study applied ceramic material as a friction material due to its high strength, low friction, and low deformation. The frictional behavior was investigated using a cyclic friction test, considering various friction materials as the primary design variables and examining their covariance in cyclic frictional movements. The results substantiated that the ceramic friction material yielded a low variance and friction coefficients in cyclic frictional movements.
$La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}CuO_3$ powder with the perovskite structure was prepared as electrode catalyst using citrate method. Porous electrode was made with as-prepared catalyst, carbon as supporter and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) as hydrophobic binder. As results of potentiostatic electrolysis with potential of -1.5~-2.5 V vs. Ag/AgCl in 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 M KOH at 5 and $10^{\circ}C$ on the porous electrode, liquid products were methanol, ethanol, 2-propanol and 1, 2-butanol regardless reaction temperature, while gas products were methane, ethane and ethylene at $5^{\circ}C$, and methane, ethane and propane at $10^{\circ}C$ respectively. Optimal potentials for $CO_2$ reduction in the view of over all faradic efficiency were high values (-2.0 and -2.2 V) for gas products whereas low potential (-1.5 V) for liquid products regardless of concentration and temperature.
The gas diffusion electrodes as oxygen cathodes f3r the brine electrolysis process were investigated. The gas diffusion electrode consists of a reaction layer, a gas diffusion layer, and a current distributor. The reaction layer was made from hydrophilic carbon black, hydrophobic carbon black, PTFE(polyterafluoroethylene), and Ag catalyst loaded by the silver mirror reaction or impregnation method. The gas diffusion layer was made from hydrophobic carbon black and PTFE, and Ni mesh was used as the current distributor in the reaction layer. The result that the gas diffusion electrode $(10wt\%\;Ag\;catalyst\;and\;20wt\%\;binder)$ manufactured by applying impregnation method to the carbon black f3r reaction layer showed the better performance was obtained from experiments. From the half-cell test, the measured overpotential of this oxygen cathode was about 700mV, And through the electrolysis experiment under the condition of $80^{\circ}C,\;32wt\%$ NaOH, and $300mA/cm^2$, the electrolysis voltage of this electrode was about 2.2 V, The gas diffusion electrodes manufactured in the present research were capable of continuous operations for three months.
A LEGO-type multi-purpose dosimetry phantom was developed for intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), which requires various types of challenging dosimetry. Polystyrene, polyethylene, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and polyurethane foam (PU-F) were selected to represent muscle, fat, bone, and lung tissue, respectively, after considering the relevant mass densities, elemental compositions, effective atomic numbers, and photon interaction coefficients. The phantom, which is composed of numerous small pieces that are similar to LEGO blocks, provides dose and dose distribution measurements in homogeneous and heterogeneous media. The phantom includes dosimeter holders for several types of dosimeters that are frequently used in IMRT dosimetry. An ion chamber and a diode detector were used to test dosimetry in heterogeneous media under radiation fields of various sizes. The data that were measured using these dosimeters were in disagreement when the field sizes were smaller than $1.5{\times}1.5\;cm^2$ for polystyrene and PTFE, or smaller than $3{\times}3\;cm^2$ for an air cavity. The discrepancy was as large as 41% for the air cavity when the field size was $0.7{\times}0.7\;cm^2$, highlighting one of the challenges of IMRT small field dosimetry. The LEGO-type phantom is also very useful for two-dimensional dosimetry analysis, which elucidates the electronic dis-equilibrium phenomena on or near the heterogeneity boundaries.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the concentrations and relationships of coarse particles with a diameter of 10 ㎛ (PM10) with endotoxins according to the time of measurement in windowless poultry houses. Methods: In this study, measurement was performed on ten windowless poultry houses with a vertically integrated system from July to November. PM10 was measured using personal environmental monitors and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) filters with a 4 L/min-calibrated pump in selected sampling locations (two near the door and two near an exhaust fan). The endotoxin on PTFE filter was analyzed by the LAL turbidimetric method. Results: The range of geometric mean concentrations of PM10 and endotoxins for each of the 38 samples were 0.12-3.30 mg/m3 and 11.9-3553.66 EU/m3, respectively. PM10 and endotoxin concentrations varied by farm, increasing with the decrease in ventilation. The range of the coefficient of determination between PM10 and endotoxin was 0.0009-0.9249. As the atmospheric temperature decreased, it was confirmed that the concentrations of PM10 and endotoxin increased because the volume of ventilation was decreased. Conclusions: Endotoxins were more affected by time of measurement and ventilation than PM10, which means that endotoxins could be an important indicator for intervention programs for improvement of indoor environments.

This work aims to develop a dry lubricant for oilless bush, especially a solid lubricant, thereby creating a coating method with improved properties of anti-friction and load-carrying capacity without oil lubrication. In this work, spherical-shaped powders of thermosetting resin such as polyimide (PI) are mixed with a binder matrix obtained by mixing a fluorocarbon compound resin such as Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) or Ethylene tetra fluoro ethylene (ETFE) with itself or with a non-fluorocarbon thermoplastic resin such as Polyether ether ketone (PEEK). And these dry lubricant mixtures are thickly coated (200-300 mm in the thickness) on the inner surface of the bush by using a wet-typed air-spray deposition method. It was found that the load-carrying capacity of the solid lubricant for excavator bush (60 mm in diameter) that operates under a high load condition (at 40 MPa) is greatly improved owing to the spherical-shaped powders of thermosetting resin. In addition, the coefficient of friction at the sliding surface is also reduced less than 0.1. Thick coating also lowers the contact stress at the edge of a bush that results in better tribological performances. The result suggests that the lubrication performance and durability life of the bush can be remarkably improved even without lubrication (oil or grease).
Among various types of harmful gases, hydrogen sulfide is a strong toxic gas that is mainly generated during spillage and wastewater treatment at industrial sites. Hydrogen sulfide can irritate the conjunctiva even at low concentrations of less than 10 ppm, cause coughing, paralysis of smell and respiratory failure at a concentration of 100 ppm, and coma and permanent brain loss at concentrations above 1000 ppm. Therefore, rapid detection of hydrogen sulfide among harmful gases is extremely important for our safety, health, and comfortable living environment. Most hydrogen sulfide gas sensors that have been reported are electrical resistive metal oxide-based semiconductor gas sensors that are easy to manufacture and mass-produce and have the advantage of high sensitivity; however, they have low gas selectivity. In contrast, the electrochemical sensor measures the concentration of hydrogen sulfide using an electrochemical reaction between hydrogen sulfide, an electrode, and an electrolyte. Electrochemical sensors have various advantages, including sensitivity, selectivity, fast response time, and the ability to measure room temperature. However, most electrochemical hydrogen sulfide gas sensors depend on imports. Although domestic technologies and products exist, more research is required on their long-term stability and reliability. Therefore, this study includes the processes from electrode material synthesis to sensor fabrication and characteristic evaluation, and introduces the sensor structure design and material selection to improve the sensitivity and selectivity of the sensor. A sensor case was fabricated using a 3D printer, and an Ag reference electrode, and a Pt counter electrode were deposited and applied to a Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) filter using PVD. The working electrode was also deposited on a PTFE filter using vacuum filtration, and an electrochemical hydrogen sulfide gas sensor capable of measuring concentrations as low as 0.6 ppm was developed.
