A tyrosinase-immobilized biosensor was developed based on various amine-modified multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT) supports for the detection of phenolic compounds. MWNTs with various amine groups were prepared by radiation-induced graft polymerization of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) onto MWNT supports and the subsequent amination of poly(GMA) graft chains. The physical and chemical properties of the poly(GMA)-grafted MWNT supports and the aminated MWNT supports were investigated by SEM, XPS, and TGA. Furthermore, the electrochemical properties of the prepared tyrosinase-modified biosensor based on MWNT supports with amine groups were also investigated. The response of the enzymatic biosensor was in the range of 0.1-0.9 mM for the concentration of phenol in a phosphate buffer solution. Various parameters influencing biosensor performance have been optimized: binder effects, pH, temperature, and the response to various phenolic compounds. The biosensor was tested on phenolic compounds contained in two different commercial red wines.
The use of Polymer Concrete (PC) is growing very rapidly in many structural and construction applications such as box culverts, hazardous waste containers, trench lines, floor drains and the repair and overlay of damaged cement concrete surfaces in pavements, bridges, etc. However, PC has a defect economically because resin which be used for binder is expensive. Therefore the latest research is being progressed to replace existing resin with new resin which can reduce the high cost. Here, Polymer concrete using the recycled PET(polyethylene terephthalate) has some merits such as decrease of environmental destruction, decrease of environmental pollution and development of new construction materials. The variables of this study are amount of resin, curing condition and maximum size of coarse aggregate to find out mechanic properties of this. Stress-strain curve was obtained using MTS equipment by strain control. The results indicated that modulus of elasticity was increased gradually in an ascending branch of curve, as an increase of resin content. Compressive strength was the highest for resin content of $13\%$. And Compressive strength was increased as maximum size of coarse aggregate increases. The strain at maximum stress increases with an increase of resin content and size of coarse aggregate. For the descending branch of stress-strain curve the brittle fracture was decreased when it was cured at the room temperature compared to high temperature.
Conventional paints for conversion coating applications in steel production derived mainly from water-based polymer dispersions containing several additives actually show good general performance, but suffer from poor scratch and abrasion resistance during use. The reason for this is because the relatively soft organic binder matrix dominates the mechanical surface properties. In order to maintain the high quality and decorative function of coated steel sheets, the mechanical performance of the surface needs to be improved significantly. In fact the wear resistance should be enhanced without affecting the optical appearance of the coatings by using appropriate nanoparticulate additives. In this direction, nanocomposite coating compositions (Nanomer$^{(R)}$) have been derived from water-based polymer dispersions with an increasing amount of surface-modified nanoparticles in aqueous dispersion in order to monitor the effect of degree of filling with rigid nanoparticles. The surface of nanoparticles has been modified for optimum compatibility with the polymer matrix in order to achieve homogeneous nanoparticle dispersion over the matrix. This approach has been extended in such a way that a more expanded hybrid network has been condensed on the nanoparticle surface by a hydrolytic condensation reaction in addition to the quasi-monolayer type small molecular surface modification. It was expected that this additional modification will lead to more intensive cross-linking in coating systems resulting in further improved scratch-resistance compared to simple addition of nanoparticles with quasi-monolayer surface modification. The resulting compositions have been coated on zinc-galvanized steel and cured. The wear resistance and the corrosion protection of the modified coating systems have been tested in dependence on the compositional change, the type of surface modification as well as the mixing conditions with different shear forces. It has been found out that for loading levels up to 50 wt.-% nanoparticles, the mechanical wear resistance remains almost unaffected compared to the unmodified resin. In addition, the corrosion resistance remained unaffected even after $180^{\circ}$ bending test showing that the flexibility of coating was not decreased by nanoparticle addition. Electron microscopy showed that the inorganic nanoparticles do not penetrate into the organic resin droplets during the mixing process but rather formed agglomerates outside the polymer droplet phase resulting in quite moderate cross linking while curing, because of viscosity. The proposed mechanisms of composite formation and cross linking could explain the poor effect regarding improvement of mechanical wear resistance and help to set up new synthesis strategies for improved nanocomposite morphologies, which should provide increased wear resistance.

Powder injection molding (PIM) uses the shaping advantage of injection molding but is applicable to metals and ceramics. This process combines a small quantity of polymer with an inorganic powder to form a feedstock that can be molded. After shaping, the polymeric binder is extracted and the powder is sintered often to near-theoretical densities. Accordingly, PIM delivers structural materials in a shaping technology previously restricted to polymers. The process overcomes the shape limitations of traditional powder compaction, the costs of machining, the productivity limits of isostatic pressing and slip casting, and the defect and tolerance limitations of casting. The 17-4 PH stainless steel powders with average diameter of $10{\mu}m$ were injection-molded into flat tensile specimens. Sintering of the compacts was carried out at the various temperatures ranging from 900 to $1350^{\circ}C$. Sintering behavior of the compacts and tensile properties of sintered specimens were investigated.

MLCC (multi-layer ceramic capacitor) is usually fabricated by lamination of predetermined number of single layers. Often, the state of MLCC before sintering is called the green state, whose strength comes from the adhesion between the dielectric material and the polymer binder. Therefore the lamination of a single layer before sintering can be easily deformed by environment due to the relatively lower strength. After the compression process, which helps single sheets cohereto with adjacent sheets, the MLCC green bar is preheated to resolve the probable internal stress. Unfortunately, unexpected deformation after preheating resulted in problems during cutting of the MLCC green bar. In this study, one of 2 primary hypotheses which were proposed to resolve the unexpected deformation after preheating was examined by quantitative experiment with GC/MS (gas chromatograpy/mass spectrometer). The proportion of deformation caused by DOP evaporation, which was primarily evaporated componet during preheating, to the total deformation of the MLCC green bar was found to be 53%.
Stainless steel bipolar plates have many advantage such as high electrical conductivity and mechanical strength and low fabrication cost. However, they need a passivation layer due to low corrosion resistance under PEM fuel cell operation condition. In this study, polyphenyene sulfide(PPS)/carbon composite coated stainless steel bipolar plates were fabricated by compression molding method after PPS/carbon composite sprayed on the stainless steel plate. PPS and carbon were chosen as the binder and conductive filler of passivation layer, respectively. The interfacial contact resistance and corrosion resistance of PPS/carbon composite coated stainless steel bipolar plates were investigated and compared to the stainless steel. The PPS/carbon composite coated stainless steel compared to stainless steel was improved interfacial contact resistance. The results of the potentiodynamic and potentiostatic measurements also showed that the PPS/carbon composite coated stainless steel did not corroded under PEM fuel cell operating conditions.
In order to achieve high performance and low cost for commercial applications, the development of membrane electrode assemblies (MEA), in which the electrochemical reactions actually occur, must be optimized. Expensive platinum is currently used as an electrochemical catalyst due to its high activity. Although various platinum alloys and non-platinum catalysts are under development, their stabilities and catalytic activities, especially in terms of the oxygen reduction (ORR), render them currently unsuitable for practical use. Therefore, it is important to decrease platinum loading by optimizing the catalysts and electrode microstructure. In this study, we prepared several different MEAs (non-uniform Nafion$^{(R)}$ ionomer loading electrode) which have dual catalyst layers to find the optimal Nafion$^{(R)}$ ionomer distribution in the electrodes. We changed Nafion$^{(R)}$ ionomer content in the layers to find the ideal composition of the binder and Pt/C in the electrode. For MEAs with various ionomer contents in the anodes and cathodes, the electrochemical activity (activation overpotential) and the mass transport properties (concentration overpotential) were analyzed and correlated with the single cell performance. The dual catalyst layers MEA showed higher cell performance than uniformly fabricated MEA, especially at the high current density region.

Micro patterning of conductor line/space on LTCC green sheet in the LTCC module is an important process for miniaturization in 3D integrated circuits. This work presented the effect of inorganic binders on the microstructure, adhesion, electrical resistivity, shrinkage and line/space resolution, which is a part of study in photoimageable conductor paste. The photoimageable conductor paste contains silver powder, polymer binder, monomer, photo-initiator, UV absorber, and solvent. The inorganic binders were furnished with varied weight percentage of anorthite, diopside and MLS-62 glass frits from 0% to 7%. The Line/space sizes thus obtained was under 25 micron.

The finishing process for die and mold manufacturing is very important because it influences the final quality of products. Injection molds need higher quality surface than general purpose dies and molds. Conventional polishing can not make mold surface down to nanometer roughness efficiently because of their loading and glazing. This paper focused on the development of fixed abrasive pad using water swelling mechanism of polymer binder network. Self-conditioning was recognized as the long term polishing stabilization tool without any loading or glazing because water makes fixed abrasives free by swelling of the pad. Consequently, stable nano-polishing process has been applied on the injection mold, from the experimental results with polished surface roughness of Ra 15.1nm on STD-11 die steel.

Study that form micro pattern by direct ink jet printing method is getting attention recently. Direct ink jet printing spout fine droplet including nano metal particle by force or air pressure. There is reason which ink jet printing method is profitable especially in a various micro-patterning technology. It can embody patterns directly without complex process such as mask manufacture or screen-printing for existent lithography. In this study, research of a technology that ejects fine droplet form of Pico liter and forms metal micro pattern was carried with inkjet head of piezoelectricity drive system. Droplet established pattern while ejecting consecutively and move on the surface at the fixed speed. Patterns formed in ink are mixed with organic solvent and polymer that act as binder. So added thermal hardening process after evaporate organic solvent at isothermal after printing. I executed high frequency special quality estimation of CPW transmission line to confirm electrical property of manufactured circuit board. We tried a large area printing to confirm application possibility of an ink jet technology.
