폴리(4-비닐피리딘)/비닐아세테이트-비닐알코올 공중합체 블렌드 :2. 상 거동 (Poly(4-vinylpyridine)/Vinyl Acetate-Vinyl Alcohol Copolymer Blends : 9. Phase. Behavior)

  • 비닐아세테이트-비닐알핀을 (VAc-VAL) 공중합체의 조성에 따른 폴리(4-비닐피리딘)(P4VP)/VAc-VAL 공중합체 블렌드의 상용성을 조사하였다. 블렌드 시료의 시차 주사 열분석(DSC0 및 광학현미경에 의한 상분리온도 조사(TOM)를 통하여 P4VP는 VAL의 조성이 30 mole% 이상 함유된 VAc-VAL 공중합체들과 상용성이 있음이 확인되었다. 상용성 P4VP/Vac-VAL 공중합체 블렌드의 푸리에 변환 적외선(FT-IR) 분광 분석 결과 비닐피리딘과 비닐알코올 히드록실기 상에 강한 분자간 수소결합이 형성됨을 확인하였다. 성분 고분자 사이에 분자간 수소결합에 의해서 고분자 블렌드의 상용성이 유도되는 고분자 블렌드계의 열역학적 모델인 Association 모델을 이용하여 P4VP/VAc-VAL 공중합체 블렌드의 이론적인 상 그림을 구하였다. 이론적으로 계산된 binodal 곡선을 실험적으로 구한 흐림점 생성 곡서과 잘 일치하는 결과를 보였다.

  • Fuel-cell powered Railway Vehicle Propulsion Systems (RVPSs) are highly desirable due to environment friendly characteristics, and high efficiency of fuel cell (FC). Among various types, the faster start-up and optimality to frequent starts and stops of Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) makes it well suited for propulsion systems. A comprehensive model of PEMFC with reflection of multi-physics behavior required to identify and validate its performance in real RVPSs. Thus this paper will model and simulate the PEMFC unit cell model: a detailed reflection of governing laws and account of dynamic conditions.

Release of Calcein from Temperature-Sensitive Liposomes in a Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) Hydrogel

  • We prepared temperature-sensitive liposomes (TS-liposomes) modified with a thermo sensitive polymer, such as poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm), to increase the degree of drug release from liposomes at the hyperthermic temperature. A PNIPAAm hydrogel containing TS-Iiposomes was also prepared to obtain a hydrogel complex at body temperature. In addition, a depot system for local drug delivery using the polymer hydrogel was developed to enhance therapeutic efficacy and prevent severe side effects in the whole body. The PNIPAAm-mod­ified TS-liposome was fixed into the PNIPAAm hydrogel having a high temperature-sensitivity. The release behavior of calcein, a model drug, from TS-liposomes in the PNIPAAm hydrogel was then initiated by external hyperthermia; the results indicated that sustained release as a function of temperature and time was caused by the thermosensitivity of the liposome surface and diffusion of the drug into the PNIPAAm hydrogel. Our results indicated that TS-liposomes in a PNIPAAm hydrogel represented a plausible system for local drug delivery.

In vitro and in vivo Application of PLGA Nanofiber for Artificial Blood Vessel

  • Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) tubes (5 mm in diameter) were fabricated using an electro spinning method and used as a scaffold for artificial blood vessels through the hybridization of smooth muscle cells (SMCs) and endothelial cells (ECs) differentiated from canine bone marrow under previously reported conditions. The potential clinical applications of these artificial blood vessels were investigated using a canine model. From the results, the tubular-type PLGA scaffolds for artificial blood vessels showed good mechanical strength, and the dual-layered blood vessels showed acceptable hybridization behavior with ECs and SMCs. The artificial blood vessels were implanted and substituted for an artery in an adult dog over a 3-week period. The hybridized blood vessels showed neointimal formation with good patency. However, the control vessel (unhybridized vessel) was occluded during the early stages of implantation. These results suggest a shortcut for the development of small diameter, tubular-type, nanofiber blood vessels using a biodegradable material (PLGA).

콘크리트내 표면매입 보강된 FRP 판과 콘크리트 사이의 착-미끄러짐 관계 해석 (Analysis on the Interfacial Bond-Slip Relationship between ear Surface-Mounted FRP Plate and Concrete)

  • 이 연구는 표면매입 보강된 FRP 판과 콘크리트사이의 응력전달기구를 이론적으로 연구한 것으로서 이선형 부착모델을 이용하여 부착거동을 묘사하고 이를 실험 결과와 비교하여 신뢰성있는 해석방법을 제시하였다. 연구로부터, 표면매입된 FRP 판과 콘크리트사이의 계면특성을 고려한 미분방정식에 이선형 부착-미끄러짐 관계곡선을 사용하여 해석할 경우, 모델의 임계값인 최대전단강도와 미끄러짐 변위, 그리고 박락에 의한 연화거동이 시작될 때의 변위값 선정과정이 제시되었다. 또한 제안된 모델을 사용하여 부착길이가 다르게 보강된 표면매입 FRP 판의 미끄러짐 거동을 해석한 결과 실제 거동을 매우 근사하게 묘사할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Numerical simulation of concrete beams reinforced with composite GFRP-Steel bars under three points bending

  • Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) applications in the structural engineering field include concrete-FRP composite systems, where FRP components are either attached to or embedded into concrete structures to improve their structural performance. This paper presents the results of an analytical study conducted using finite element model (FEM) to simulate the behavior of three-points load beam reinforced with GFRP and/or steel bars. To calibrate the FEM, a small-scale experimental program was carried out using six reinforced concrete beams with $200{\times}200mm$ cross section and 1000 mm length cast and tested under three point bending load. The six beams were divided into three groups, each group contained two beams. The first group was a reference beams which was cast without any reinforcement, the second group concrete beams was reinforced using GFRP, and the third group concrete beams was reinforced with steel bars. Nonlinear finite element simulations were executed using ANSYS software package. The difference between the theoretical and experimental results of beams vertical deflection and beams crack shapes were within acceptable degree of accuracy. Parametric study using the calibrated model was carried out to evaluate two parameters (1) effect of number and position of longitudinal main bars on beam behavior; (2) performance of concrete beam with composite longitudinal reinforcement steel and GFRP bars.

Finite element analysis and theoretical modeling of GFRP-reinforced concrete compressive components having waste tire rubber aggregates

  • The management of waste tire rubber has become a pressing environmental and health issue, requiring sustainable solutions to mitigate fire hazards and conserve natural resources. The performance of waste materials in structural components needs to be investigated to fabricate sustainable structures. This study aims to investigate the behavior of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) reinforced rubberized concrete (GRRC) compressive components under compressive loads. Nine GRRC circular compressive components, varying in longitudinal and transverse reinforcement ratios, were constructed. A 3D nonlinear finite element model (FEM) was proposed by means of the ABAQUS software to simulate the behavior of the GRRC compressive components. A comprehensive parametric analysis was conducted to assess the impact of different parameters on the performance of GRRC compressive components. The experimental findings demonstrated that reducing the spacing of GFRP stirrups enhanced the ductility of GRRC compressive components, while the addition of rubberized concrete further improved their ductility. Failure in GRRC compressive components occurred in a compressive columnar manner, characterized by vertical cracks and increased deformability. The finite element simulations closely matched the experimental results. The proposed empirical model, based on 600 test samples and considering the lateral confinement effect of FRP stirrups, demonstrated higher accuracy (R2 = 0.835, MSE = 171.296, MAE = 203.549, RMSE = 195.438) than previous models.

  • Sodium alginate and chitosan are added to a $CaCl_2$ solution to prepare calcium-alginate-chitosan and calciumalginate gels. After dehydration through stoving, two types of adsorbent particles are obtained. The adsorption process of the particles obtained for low concentrations of $Sr^{2+}$ satisfies a second-order kinetic equation and the Freundlich adsorption model. The thermodynamic behaviors of the particles indicate that adsorption occurs via a spontaneous physical process. XPS pattern analysis is used to demonstrate the adsorption of $Sr^{2+}$ by calcium alginate and chitosan. By building an interaction model of the molecules of chitosan and alginate with $Ca^{2+}$ and $Sr^{2+}$ to calculate energy parameters, Fukui index, Mulliken charge, and Mulliken population, adsorption of $Sr^{2+}$ on the molecular chains of chitosan as well as the boundary of calcium-alginate-chitosan is observed to show weak stability; by contrast, adsorption between molecular chains is high.

Modelling the reinforced concrete beams strengthened with GFRP against shear crack

  • In this study, the behavior of the number of anchorage bolts on the glass-fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) plates adhered to the surfaces of reinforcing concrete (RC) T-beams was investigated analytically. The analytical results were compared to the test results in term of shear strength, and midpoint displacement of the beam. The modelling of the beams was conducted in ABAQUS/CAE finite element software. The Concrete Damaged Plasticity (CDP) model was used for concrete material modeling, and Classical Metal Plasticity (CMP) model was used for reinforcement material modelling. Model-1 was the reference specimen with enough sufficient shear reinforcement, and Model-2 was the reference specimen having low shear reinforcement. Model-3, Model-4 and Model-5 were the specimens with lower shear reinforcement. These models consist of a single variable which was the number of anchorage bolts implemented to the GFRP plates. The anchorage bolts of 2, 3, and 4 were mutually mounted on each GFRP plates through the beam surfaces for Model-3, Model-4, and Model-5, respectively. It was found that Model-1, Model-3, Model-4 and Model-5 provided results approximately equal to the test results. The results show that the shear strength of the beams increased with increasing of anchorage numbers. While close results were obtained for Model-1, Model-3, Model-4 and Model-5, in Model-2, the rate of increase of displacement was higher than the increase of load rate. It was seen, finite element based ABAQUS program is inadequate in the modeling of the reinforced concrete specimens under shear force.

FRP로 전단보강된 철근콘크리트 보의 비선형 해석 (Nonlinear Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Beams Shear-Strengthened with Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composites)

  • 이 연구에서는 FRP(fiber reinforced polymer)로 전단보강된 철근콘크리트(RC) 보의 전단거동을 예측하기 위하여 비선형 유한요소해석을 수행한다. FRP로 전단보강된 RC 보의 유한요소해석을 위하여 이 논문에서는 FRP에 대한 모델링 개념을 소개하며, RC 보와 FRP, 그리고 콘크리트와 FRP 사이의부착 특성을 나타낼 수 있는 수치해석기법을 사용한다. 제안된 모델링 기법에 따라, DSFM에 바탕을둔 2차원 비선형 유한요소해석 프로그램인 VecTor2를 이용하여 유한요소해석을 수행한다. 또한 FRP 로 전단보강된 RC 보의 거동에 대한 DSFM의 적용성을 검증하기 위하여 수치해석결과와 실험결과를 상세히 비교한다.
