실험계획법을 이용한 유연 디스플레이용 무색 투명 폴리이미드 필름의 광학 성능 최적화 (Optimization of Optical Performance of Colorless and Transparent Polyimide Film for Flexible Display using Design of Experiment)

  • As various flexible display products are released, the demand for high-performance colorless and transparent polyimide (CPI) film is continuously increasing. The primary purpose of this study is to establish a systematic procedure for optimizing the optical performance of CPI films by applying the response surface method. After selecting three key factors (monomer type, stirring time for varnish synthesis, and maximum temperature of vacuum furnace for film production) affecting optical performance based on experiences and references, CPI films were manufactured according to the experimental sequence designed by the central composite design, and then the yellowness index (YI) and optical transmittance (Tr) of the films were measured. When producing a CPI film by pouring varnish into a petri dish, the change in optical properties according to thickness should be considered, and there was a meaningful linear relationship between YI and Tr. The species of monomer and the maximum temperature were the critical factors that had an influence on YI and Tr, respectively. It is expected that the procedure proposed in this study can serve as a starting point for CPI film optimization studies considering the other factors that were not considered and responses such as thermal properties.

  • Research for the synthesis of high-temperature polymers by the photochemical method has been carrying out. The use of cheap and available compounds (viz. benzene, its alkyl, aryl and halogen substitutes, furan and maleic anhydride) subject to ultra violet irradiation resulted in a single stage quantitative yield of about 40 new polymers: polyimide films, enamel insulation, molding materials. At present experimental & industrial lots of wire have been produced. Polymer insulation possesses temperature exploitation range (from -l00$^{\circ}C$ to +300$^{\circ}C$ ) without significant changing of properties. As a result, new polyimide lacquers for production of a wide number of technical articles, such as polyimide films, fibres, enamel-wires, press-materials have been synthesized. An application field of the polyimides in membrane technology, printing plate and optic electronics manufactures has been outlined.

  • Studies have been conducted to explore thermal imidization of polyamic acid. Aromatic polyimides are well recognized as high temperature linear polymers, and polyimide are used as structural materials, fibers, and adhesive. Two different kinds of polyimide were prepared by theimidization of polyamic acid which were synthesized from 2,2-bis[4-(4-aminophenoxy)phenyl]- hexafluoropropane, 2,2-bis [4-(4-aminophenxy)phenyl] - hexamethylpropane and caprolactam and pyromelliti dianhydride under N-Methly-pyrrolidinone solvent. Polyamic acids were converted to polyimides containing imide bond by thermal imidization. The weight 50% loss temperatures of polyimide by TGA thermogram were recorded in the range of 700 ~ 720$^{\circ}$C in nitrogen gas. According, as a results, we conclued polyamic acid were cycliation after H2O molecule separationed, and this polyimide film could be used for Printed Circuit Boand.

  • A series novel films of polyimide (PI) and co-polyimide (Co-PI) containing fluorine with colorless, flexible properties was prepared by a two-step process from various commercial aromatic monomers such as 4,4'-(Hexafluoro iso propylidene) diphthalic anhydride (6FDA), 2,2'-Bis(Trifluoromethyl) benzidine (TFDB), 2,2-bis(3-amino-4-hydroxyphenyl) hexafluoropropane (AH6FP) and Bis(4-(3-aminophenoxy)phenyl)sulfone (BAS). Furthermore, these obtained transparent and flexible Co-PI films exhibited excellent thermal stability with the decomposition temperature (at 5% weight loss) around of $500^{\circ}C$ and the glass transition temperature ($T_g$) in the range of $275-350^{\circ}C$.

  • 편광법을 사용하여 패턴이 있는 LCD 유리기층위에 놓여 있는 러빙된 PI(polyimide)의 광학이방성을 분석하였다. 투과형 편광계를 사용하여 0.4 nm 이하의 극히 작은 위상지연의 크기와 광축의 방향을 정밀하게 측정하였다. 온도에 따르는 광학이방성의 미세변화를 위상지연의 크기 및 광축 방향의 변화곡선으로 나타내고 간단한 광학모델을 사용하여 설명하였다.

  • The alignment effect of liquid crystals on Polyimide surfaces bombarded by a low energy argon ion beam and the effect of pretilt angle on viewing characteristics of an LCD cell are discussed. The unidirectional out-of-plane liquid crystal tilt angle is varied with various ion beam irradiation conditions, such as the energy of the incident ions, the angle of incidence and exposure time. As low pretilt angle is profitable for wider viewing property, LCD cell with ion beam modified Polyimide layer show wider viewing characteristics.

폴리이미드 용량형 습도센서의 전극 패턴에 따른 감습 특성 (Humidity Sensitive Characterization by Electrode Pattern on the Capacitive Humidity Sensor Using Polyimide)

  • Electrode pattern effects on the capacitive humidity sensor were investigated. The fabrication of the capacitive humidity sensor was formed with three steps. The bottom electrode was formed on the silicon substrate with Pt/Ti thin layer by using shadow mask and e-beam evaporator. The photo sensitive polyimide was formed on the bottom electrode by using photolithography process as a humidity sensitive thin film. The upper electrode was formed on the polyimide thin film with Pt/Ti thin layer by using e-beam evaporator and lift-off method. Three electrode patterns, such as circle, square, and triangle pattern, were used and changed the sizes to investigate the effects. The capacitances of the sensors were decreased 622 to 584 pF with the area decreament of patterns 250,000 to $196,250{\mu}m^2$. From these results, a capacitive humidity sensor with photo sensitive polyimide is expected to be applied to a high sensitive humidity sensor.

후속 열처리 조건에 따른 무전해 니켈 도금박막과 폴리이미드 사이의 계면접착력 평가 (Interfacial Adhesion between Electroless Plated Ni Film and Polyimide by Post-baking Treatment Conditions)

  • 습식 개질전처리를 통해 무전해 도금 니켈/폴리이미드 박막을 형성하였으며, 이때 도금 후처리 공정인 후속 열처리 조건에 따른 무전해 니켈 도금 박막과 폴리이미드 사이의 필 강도를 $180^{\circ}C$인 경우 필 강도는 $38.6{\pm}1.1g/mm$에서 $180^{\circ}C$ 처리 시에 $26.8{\pm}2.2g/mm$로 감소하였다. 습식 개질전처리에 의해 폴리이미드 표면에 형성된 carboxyl 결합과 amide결합은 니켈과 폴리이미드 사이의 계면 접착기구와 밀접한 연관성이 있는 것으로 판단된다. 후속 열처리 온도에 상관없이 파괴경로는 모두 폴리이미드 내부였으며, 이때 후속 열처리 온도에 따른 무전해 니켈 도금 박막과 폴리이미드 사이의 박리 강도 거동은 파면 부근에 형성된 carbonyl oxygen결합의 감소와 밀접한 연관성이 있는 것으로 판단된다.

  • The effects of $O_2$ plasma pretreatment on the properties of Ga-doped ZnO films on polyimide substrate were studied. GZO films were fabricated by RF magnetron sputtering process. To improve surface energy and adhesion between the polyimide substrate and the GZO film, $O_2$ plasma pretreatment process was used prior to GZO sputtering. As the RF power and the treatment time increased, the crystallinity increased and the contact angle decreased significantly. When the RF power was 100 W and the treatment time was 120 sec, the resistivity of GZO films on the polyimide substrate was $1.90{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}-cm$.
