  • Recently, energy depleting problem have risen seriously. Many studies of daylight responsive dimming system for saving of lighting energy in office buildings have been done actively. Most of studies are focused on the accuracy. However if the variation of dimming levels is changed too often, occupants would feel uncomfortable. First, illuminance changes which occupants couldn't detect are studied through analyzing foreign studies. Second, workplan illuminance from daylight in each sky condition is measured. Because the dimming level In daylight responsive dimming system is dependent on the workplan illuminance from daylight. In conclusion, the most appropriate polling periods to daylight responsive dimming system for occupant's visual comfort was determined.

  • High sped messaging layer for application's feeling of low level network performance is needed by Clustering System based on high speed network fabrics. It should have the mechanism to directly pass messages between network card and application space, and provide flexible affodabilities for many diverse applications. In this paper, CROWN (Clustering Resources On Workstations' Network) which is designed and implemented for multi-purpose clustering system will be introduced briefly, and CLCP(CROWN Lean Communication Primitives)which is the high speed messaging layer for CROWN will be followed. CLCP consists of a firmware for controlling Myrinet card, device drier, and user libraries. CLCP supports various application domains as a result of pooling and interrupt receive mechanism. In case of polling based receive, 8 bytes short message, and no other process, CLCP has 262 micro-second response time between two nodes, and IM bytes large message, it shows 442Mbps bandwidth.

  • In the network management system, there are two approaches; the centralized approach based on SNMP and the distributed approach based on mobile agent. Some information changes with time and the manager needs to monitor its value in real time. In such a case, the polling is generally used in SNMP because the manager can query agents periodically. However, the polling scheme needs both request and response messages for management information every time, which results in network traffic increase. In this paper, we suggest an adaptive network monitoring method to reduce the network traffic for SNMP-based network management. In the proposed strategy, each agent first decides its on monitoring period. Then, the manager collects them and approves each agent's period without modification or adjusts it based on the total traffic generated by monitoring messages. After receiving response message containing monitoring period from the manager, each agent sends management information periodically without the request of manager. To evaluate performance of the proposed method, we implemented it and compared the network traffic and monitoring quality of the proposed scheme with the general polling method.

  • In this paper, we propose an anycast event driven synchronization mechanism to reduce power overheads. Our proposed mechanism can reduce unnecessary polling operations on SHI(Snoop Hit Invalidate) or SHR(Snoop Hit Read) states. It prevents waisting bandwidth and reduces power overheads on polling operation. Also it decreases transition power of state change compared to broadcast model. Simulation results indicated that the proposed architecture had about 15.3% of power decrease compared to spin-lock model and about 4.7% of power decrease compared to broadcast model. Overall results indicated that proposed synchronization mechanism could increase power efficiency of multi-core system by reducing power overheads.

  • In order to improve voters' reliability in electronic voting system, voter verifiable receipt technique is being actively researched. Since the receipt should be verifiable not only inside but also outside a polling place, it satisfies the requirements, individual verifiability and receipt-freeness. In the previous researches, there are some problems that special paper and printer is necessary or frequent monitoring is needed to confirm the voting machine's trustworthiness. In this paper, we propose a new receipt issuing scheme. Our scheme does not require any special equipments such as special paper and printer or optical scanner. In addition to that it does not require voters to trust any devices in the polling station and there is no need of frequent observations to the voting machines.

  • The IEEE 802.11 MAC (Media Access Control) Protocol supports two modes of operation, a random access mode for nonreal-time data applications processed by Distributed Coordinated Function (DCF), and a polling mode for real-time applications served by Point Coordinated Function (PCF). It is known that the standard IEEE 802.11 is insufficient to serve real-time traffic. To provide Quality of Service (QoS) of real-time traffic, we propose the Downlink-first scheduling with Earliest Due Date (EDD) in Contention Free Period (CFP) with suitable admission control. The capacity and deadline violation probability of the proposed system is analyzed and compared to the standard pair system of downlink and uplink. Analytical and simulation results show that the proposed scheme is remarkably efficient in view of the deadline violation probability.

  • E-voting is expected to offer prominent advantages over traditional voting methods. Advantages include faster tallying, greater accuracy, prevention of void ballots, and lower cost. However, many experts express concerns about the potential for large-scale fraud. Recently, many paper based end-to-end (E2E) voter verifiable systems providing individual verifiability and universal verifiability have been proposed. These systems, unlike previous voting systems, are used in polling booths and without access to trusted computing devices at the time of voting. In this paper, we propose a practical and secure E2E voter verifiable system using a paper receipt based on cryptographic technologies.

  • The paper describes a technique for building a reuse environment obtained by polling user feedback about selected reuse components in order to enhance the system effectiveness. In order to do, we use fuzzification function adapting fuzzy technique. This is made by user profile. Function modification attained by result of continuous choice of components. This method is aimed to enhance system rather than optimization about single query

  • Advanced information communication processing system mainly consists of network access subsystems and a switching system. This paper provides performance analysis of a typical network access subsystem. The network access subsystem is modeled as a queueing network including a server providing polling services. The arrival process of messages to an input buffer is regarded as a Poisson process. Performance measures such as mean input buffer length and mean waiting time of meassages are obtained through simulation, for it is impossible to calculate the performance measures using an analytical method. Hybrid simulation is used to reduce the variance of estimators. The variance reduction effect on the mean waiting time is reported.
