  • The first geostationary satellite made by Korea, COMS, has the three different payload ; Meteorological sensor, Oceanographic sensor and Ka-band communication payload. There are Meteorological & Ocean Data Communication Subsystem(MODCS) and Telemetry, Command and Ranging Subsystem(TC&R) as other RF radiation sources. MODCS transmits and receives Meteo and Ocean measurement data from/to earth using L-band and TC&R using S-band. The Ka-band communication payload will provide high-speed multimedia services and communication services for natural disaster such as prediction, prevention, and recovery services in the government communications network.Ka-band beacon is for the earth antenna pointing and the experiment of rain fading. This paper gives the analysis results about the mutual radiation effect on Ka-band communication payload, Ka-band beacon, MODCS and TC&R. Up/Down link power and coupling factor including the geometrical position and distance of antenna, filter rejection and degradation factor due to the different polarization are considered. The results show MODCS and TC&R are compatible for Ka-band communication payload and Ka-band beacon does not interfere with MODCS and TC&R normal operation.

  • In this study, we used 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propylmethacrylate(MPS) silane coupling agent for surface modification of silica nanoparticles. We studied effects of reaction conditions such as solvent pH, MPS hydrolysis time, reaction time, and molar ratio of MPS to Si-OH groups on silica nanoparticle surfaces, on the surface modification reactions of silica nanoparticles. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FTIR), Elemental Analysis(EA) and solid state crosspolarization magic angle spinning(CP/MAS) Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy(NMR) techniques were used to determine the type and the degree of surface modification. We found MPS reacts preferentially with Si-OH groups of the silica nanoparticles as monomeric form at solvent pH = 4.5. But increasing hydrolysis time of MPS from 30 mins to 90 mins, and molar ratio of MPS to Si-OH groups on silica nanoparticle surfaces, we found that MPS reacts preferentially with Si-OH groups of the silica nanoparticles as oligomeric form.

  • We have evaluated structural and electric, ferroelectric properties of PZT(30/70) thick film prepared by using 1,3-propanediol based sol-gel method on Pt/Ti/SiO$_2$/Si substrates. Rapid thermal annealing (RTA) is used to reduce the thermal stress and final furnace annealing is processed at $650^{\circ}C$. As the results of SEM analysis, we find that we get 350 nm in thickness for one coating and 1 $\mu$m for three times of coating. In the results of C-D analysis at 1 kHz, dielectric constant ($\varepsilon$$_{r}$) and dissipation factor were 886 and 0.03, respectively. C-V curve is shaped as a symmetrical butterfly. Leakage current density at 200 kV/cm is 1.23${\times}$10$^{-5}$ A/cm$^2$ and in the results of hysteresis loops measured at 150 kV/cm, the remnant polarization (P$_{r}$) and the coercive field (E$_{c}$) are 33.8 $\mu$C/cm$^2$ and 56.9 kV/cm, respectively. PZT(30/70) thick film exhibits relatively good ferroelectric, electric properties.s..

  • In the method for lithium (Li) analysis, flame emission photometry and atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) have been used most frequently. In addition, lithium can be analyzed by ion-selective electrode (ISE) or fluorscence polarization immunoassay. We evaluated the comparison between AAS method based on the principle of absorption of light at 670.8 nm by Li and ISE method based on the principle of voltage difference generated by Li in contact with lithium ionophore. We compared with those obtained by AAS (AA/AE Spectrophotometer 551, Instrumentation Laboratory Co.) and ISE(CSYNCHRON EL-ISE, Beckman Co.) in the serum and urine of 6 patients and evaluated time-related changes of serum lithium concentration after dosing in both methods. The results are summarized as follows : 1. In within-run precision study for lithium concentration, coefficient variations (CVs, %) ranged from 1.34 to 2.17 for AAS and from 0.34 to 0.85 for ISE method. In between-run precision study for lithium concentration, CVs ranged from 1.23 to 1.72 for AAS and from 0.61 to 1.38 for ISE method. 2. The correlation study between AAS and ISE method resulted in Y=0.946X+0.137 (N=32, r=0.933, X=AAS, Y=ISE) for serum lithium and Y=1.092X+0.977 (N=28, r=0.943, X=AAS, Y=ISE) for urine lithium. 3. Time-related changes of serum lithium concentration in both AAS and ISE method resulted in peak serum levels about 2 hours after dosing and then rapidly decreased after the peak serum level and finally arrived at nearly initial levels about 9 hours after dosing. 4. The reference range of serum lithium was found as undetectable level for both AAS and ISE method and the reference range of urine lithium to the urine creatinine was 0-0.00014 mmol/mg(mean 0.00002 mmol/mg) for AAS method.

  • Purpose - The cosmetics industry is a traditional high value-added industry in terms of the domestic demand, small batch production systems, exclusive competition, and raw materials highly dependent on overseas countries as well as an oligopolistic market structure. However, new foreign brands and growing consumer awareness of inexpensive products, has triggered a shift. In line with changing lifestyles and the polarization of consumption, the industry faces a new market structure. Among its key characteristics is the cosmetics industry's numerous distribution channels (i.e., department stores, door-to-door sales, online shopping malls, brand shops, and discount stores). Therefore, the study of its distribution channels is essential. Research design, data, and methodology - The study analyzed channel distribution power divided into coercive and non-coercive power. The factors of coercive power included: unilateral request of an increase in commissions, interference in sales by taking advantage of a superior status, unilateral buck-passing at the time of a problem, unilateral request to stop sales activities, and a unilateral business contract; the factors of non-coercive power included favorable payment conditions, offers of various kinds of information, policy on commission reduction, pride in market entrance, and promotion support. In addition, the mediating variable "interdependence" was applied to the execution of department store (or mart) power and their shop conflicts and satisfaction to examine direct and indirect influential power. The methodology was a survey of managers of cosmetics shops in department stores (or marts). The questionnaire, based on a five-point Likert scale, included questions about basic personal information, execution of power, interdependence, conflict, and satisfaction. The study distributed 198 questionnaires and collected 131. Ten questionnaires with missing or hard to analyze data were excluded. Thus, 121 copies were analyzed. Results - According to the analysis, the execution of coercive power by department stores (or marts) did not affect interdependence, but the execution of non-coercive power did. Interdependence did not influence conflict, but did affect satisfaction. Additionally, the analysis revealed direct influential power: the execution of coercive power positively affected conflict and negatively influenced satisfaction; the execution of non-coercive power positively affected satisfaction. Conclusions - To offer suggestions for distribution business relations in the cosmetics industry, this study investigated how the execution of power by department stores (or marts) affected their shops. More specifically, it examined how much the execution of both coercive power and non-coercive power influenced conflict and satisfaction, and analyzed the mediating role of interdependence. In line with previous study results in various areas, coercive power was shown to be the source of conflict, leading to a decrease in satisfaction, whereas non-coercive power significantly positively influenced satisfaction. Moreover, non-coercive power increased interdependence, which led to greater satisfaction. As a result, interdependence had a mediating effect on non-coercive power and satisfaction. Based on the results, department stores (or marts) should look for improvements plans that increase interdependence. Such plans could alleviate conflict with the shops, increasing their satisfaction.

  • This paper investigates the evolution of EM admittance of piezoelectric transducers mounted on a notched beam from wave propagation perspective. A finite element analysis is adopted to obtain numerical solutions for Lamb waves reverberating on the notched beam. The mode-converted Lamb wave signals due to a notch are extracted by using the polarization characteristics of piezoelectric transducers collocated on the beam. Then, a series of temporal spectrums are computed to demonstrate the evolution of EM admittance through fast Fourier transform of the mode-converted Lamb wave signals which are consecutively truncated in the time domain. When truncation time is relatively small, the corresponding temporal spectrum is governed by the characteristics of the input driving frequency. As truncation time becomes large, however, the modal characteristics of the notched beam play a crucial role in the temporal spectrum within the input driving frequency band. This implies that mode-converted Lamb waves reverberating on the beam contributes to the resonance of the beam. The root mean square values are computed for the temporal spectrums in the vicinity of each resonance frequency. The root mean square values increase monotonically with respect to truncation time for any resonance frequencies. Finally the implications of the numerical observation are discussed in the context of damage detection of a beam.

  • This study evaluated the burnability and hydration reaction of clinker burned with high Al2O3 content OPC to apply large amounts of industrial by-products in the cement manufacturing process. Specifically, after preparing a clinker with a high C3A content by burning the OPC raw material with a high content of Al2O3 in a laboratory electric furnace, the burnability of the clinker was evaluated through XRD Rietveld analysis and polarization microscopy, and clinker hydration reactivity was reviewed through the Isothermal conduction calorimetry analysis and the cement compressive strength. As a result, the kiln burning temperature for the production of high Al2O3 content clinker lower, and the compressive strength was equal to or higher than OPC. Therefore it was confirmed the possibility to manufacturing energy-saving high Al2O3 content clinker using a large amount of industrial by-products.

  • [ $AB_2-type$ ] alloy, one kind of hydrogen storage alloys used as an anode of Ni-MH batteries, has large discharge capacity but has remaining problems regarding initial activation, cycle life and self-discharge. This study investigates the effects of Cr-addition and fluorination after La-addition on $Zr_{0.7}Ti_{0.3}V_{0.4}Mn_{0.4}Ni_{1.2}$, composition $AB_2-type$ alloy. EPMA and SEM surface analysis techniques were used and the crystal structure was characterized by XRD analysis. In addition, electrodes were fabricated out of the alloys and characterized by constant current cycling test, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and potentiodynamic polarization. Cr-addition was found to be effective to cycle life and self-discharge but ineffective to initial activation due to formation of stable oxide film on surface. Fluorination after La-addition to the alloys improved initial activation remarkably due to formation of highly reactive particles on surface.

  • Cellulose nanowhiskers (CNW) gamered increasing interest for their remarkable reinforcement of polymer composites. In this work, we were to produce cellulose whiskers from commercially available microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) by acid hydrolysis with sulfuric and hydrochloric acids. Electron microscopy found that each acid produced sililar cellulose crystals of diameters ranging from 20 to 30 nm and lengths ranging from 200 to 300 nm. Moreover, all samples showed remarkable flow birefringence through crossed polarization filters. Conductometric titration of CNW suspensions revealed that the sulfuric acid treated sample had a surface charge of between 140.00 mmol/kg and 197.78 mmol/kg due to sulfate groups, while that of the hydrochloric acid treated sample was undetectable. Thermogravimetric analysis showed that the thermal decomposition temperature and apparent activation energy (evaluated by Broido's method at different stages of thermal decomposition.) of H1-CNW - prepared by hydrolysis with hydrochloric acid - was higher than those of S1-CNW and S2-CNW - prepared by hydrolyzing MCC with sulfuric acid.
