  • The level of security of most sensor nodes that comprise the sensor networks is low, but because of the low computing power and small storage capacity, it is even very difficult to apply a security algorithm efficiently to the sensor nodes. Therefore, preventing the join of an illegal node to a sensor network is impossible, and the transmitting information is easily exposed and overheard when the transmitting algorithm of the sensor node is hewn. In this paper, we propose a group key management scheme for the sensor network using polar coordinates, so that the sensor nodes can deliver information securely inside a cluster and any illegal node is prevented from joining to the cluster where a sensor network is composed of many clusters. In the proposed scheme, all of the sensor nodes in a cluster set up the authentication keys based on the pivot value provided by the CH. The intensive simulations show that the proposed scheme outperforms the pair-wise scheme in terms of the secure key management and the prevention of the illegal nodes joining to the network.

  • Radio frequency fingerprinting refers to a methodology that extracts hardware-specific characteristics of a transmitter that are unintentionally embedded in a transmitted waveform. In this paper, we put forward a fingerprinting feature and deep learning structure that can identify the same type of Digital Mobile Radio(DMR) by inputting the in-phase(I) and quadrature(Q). We proposes using the magnitude in polar coordinates of I/Q as RF fingerprinting feature and a modified ResNet-1D structure that can identify them. Experimental results show that our proposed modified ResNet-1D structure can achieve recognition accuracy of 99.5% on 20 DMR.

  • Turbomolecular pump (TMP) is widely used to obtain and maintain high vacuum by spinning turbine rotors to migrate gas molecules to the exhaust of the pump. However, performance of the TMP has not been well observed when it is influenced by strong magnetic field. Such study may give useful information about magnetic field tolerance of TMP, development of magnetic shielding technique for key components of TMP, etc. For this purpose, magnetic field induced by a circular current source was firstly designed and investigated. Using spherical coordinates and vector potential, magnetic field throughout the space including axis of rotation was calculated. Due to the rotational symmetry of the circular current source, induced magnetic field is azimuthally symmetric and, thus, is analyzed by radial and polar components of the magnetic fields. In order to enhance the numerical accuracy for the calculation, magnetic field was expressed by complete elliptic integrals of first and second kinds. According to the calculation, when 1 A of DC-current passes through a 1 turned circular wire with 50 cm of diameter, overall magnitude of the inducedmagnetic field was about 0.02 Gauss, which was used to the determination of the current and the number of turns of wires to fabricate the coil for the study on the magnetic field tolerance of TMP.

  • The Dynamic equations in the polar coordinates are drawn out using the MLPG method for the non-symmetric FG cylindrical shell. To simulate the mechanical properties of FGM, the nonlinear volume fractions for radial direction are used. The shape function applied in this paper is a form of the radial basis functions, by using this function all the requirements for an effective and suitable shape function are established. Hence in this study, the multiquadrics (MQ) radial basis functions are exploited as the shape function governing the problem. The MLPG method is combined with the the Newmark time approximation scheme to solve dynamic equations in the time domain. The obtained results by the MLPG method to be verified are compared with the analytical solution and the FEM. The obtained results through the MLPG method show a good agreement in comparison to other results and the MLPG method has high accuracy for dynamic analysis of the non-symmetric FG cylindrical shell. To demonstrate the capability of the present method to dynamic analysis of the non-symmetric FG cylindrical shell, it is analyzed dynamically with different volume fraction exponents under harmonic and rectangular shock loading. The present method shows high accuracy, efficiency and capability to dynamic analysis of the non-symmetric FG cylindrical shell with nonlinear grading patterns.

  • An important class of problems in the field of geotechnical engineering may be analyzed with the aid of a simple integro-differential equation. Behavior of "rigid" piles(say concrete piles), "deformable" piles(say gravel piles), pile groups, pile-raft foundations, heavily reinforced earth, flow within circular silos and down drag on cylindrical structures (for example the crusher unit of a mineral processing complex) are the type of situations that can be handled by this type of equation. The equation under consideration has the form; $$\frac{{\partial}w(r,\;z)}{{\partial}z}+f(z){\int}^z_0g({\xi})(\frac{{\partial}^2w(r,\;{\xi})}{{\partial}r^2}+\frac{1}{r}\frac{{\partial}w(r,\;{\xi})}{{\partial}r})d{\xi}+h(r,\;z)=0$$ where w(r, z) is the vertical displacement of a soil particle expressed as a function of the polar cylindrical space coordinates (r, z) and the symbols f, g and h represent soil properties and the loading conditions. The merit of the analysis is its simplicity (both in concept and in application) and the ease with which it can be expressed in a computer code. In the present paper the analysis is applied to investigate the behavior of a single rigid pile to bedrock. The emphasis, however, is placed on developing the equation, the numerical techique used in its evaluation and validation of the technique, hereafter called the ID technique, against a formal program, CRISP, which uses the FEM.

  • The galaxy disk warp is a common phenomenon, yet their properties and formation mechanism(s) are still unclear. Here, we introduce a new automatic measurement method for the warp properties of stellar disks in nearby edge-on galaxies, including warp's angle, shape, and asymmetry. We obtain isophotal maps of edge-on galaxies and express each of isophote contours in polar coordinates (${\Phi}$, R) centered on the galaxy centers. Two peaks in the ${\Phi}$-R diagram correspond to the outermost tips of each isophote. The locations of peaks, in turn, inform us of the misalignment between their inner and outer galactic planes, i.e., the warp. We apply this method to SDSS Stripe 82 co-added data and discuss its reliability and validity. Based on the measurement of warp properties, we also investigate their correlations with both intrinsic and environmental properties of warped galaxies.

  • The proper surface pressure on the pistons rings in the diesel engine of a ship is very important, because the pressure controls the oil that is needed to maintain friction at acceptable levels between the pistons and the cylinders. In this paper, basic and theoretical concepts to compute the ring pressure were formulated and applied to obtain the proper surface pressures on selected sample piston rings. During the calculation of the pressure on the piston rings, the computation of the accurate free shape of the piston ring was required. Earlier, Arnold and Prescott introduced theories to compute the free shapes of piston rings, and their approach used rectangular and polar coordinates. In this paper, the free shapes of piston rings using two different theories were computed and compared. The results were quite close, representing the free shape of the piston ring. Ring pressure was computed using the Arnold's free shape that was obtained. A simple GUI was made to compute the surface pressure on the piston rings.

  • In commercial digital-cameras, color-filter filters light according to wavelength range of color filter array (CFA) and the filtered intensities contain color information of light. Then, output data of CFA is transformed to final rendered image through demosaicing process. In image processing of digital-camera, the quality of the final rendered image is affected by optical cross talk of CFA, kind of CFA pattern etc. Basically, pattern of CFA plays important role in image quality of final image rendered by digital-camera. Therefore, an evaluation system capable of quantitatively evaluating CFA is needed. This paper proposes a novel evaluation system using existing and proposed image metrics for evaluating CFAs of digital-camera. Proposed CFA evaluation system consist of color difference in CIELAB and S-CIELAB, Structure SImilarity (SSIM), MTF50, moire starting point (MSP), and subjective preference (SP). MSP and SP are newly designed for the proposed evaluation system. Proposed evaluation system is expressed in polar coordinates to analyze the characteristics of CFA objectively and intuitively. Through simulations, we confirmed that proposed CFA evaluation system can objectively assess performance of developed CFAs.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to improve the method for determining the position of the center of gravity for agricultural tractors. Methods: The proposed method uses trigonometric functions and coordinate transformation. Data were measured according to the ISO 789-6 test procedures for the center of gravity of agricultural tractors. The height calculated using the proposed method was compared with that determined from an AutoCAD drawing. To find the center of gravity of the tractor, the algorithm for finding the intersection of the two lines was used. Results: The vertical height from the ground to the center of gravity is 682.06 mm. The vertical coordinates obtained from the calculation and the drawing were the same. Conclusions: The developed method uses trigonometric and polar coordinate transformation. The method was compared and verified with the AutoCAD drawing results. The results indicate that users can apply this developed method instead of the plotting method which is an inconvenient and time-consuming. Further, users can program Microsoft Excel to easily determine the vertical coordinate. In addition, researchers will propose this method to the ISO as a standard method for determining the center of gravity in accordance with ISO 789-6.

  • Iris recognition system is the one of the most reliable biometries recognition system. An algorithm is proposed to determine the localized iris from the iris image received from iris input camera in client. For the first step, the algorithm determines the center of pupil. For the second step, the algorithm determines the outer boundary of the iris and the pupillary boundary. The localized iris area is transformed into polar coordinates. After performing three times Wavelet transformation, normalization was done using a sigmoid function. The converting binary process performs normalized value of pixel from 0 to 255 to be binary value, and then the converting binary process is compared pairs of two adjacent pixels. The binary code of the iris is transmitted to the server by the network. In the server, the comparing process compares the binary value of presented iris to the reference value in the database. The process of recognition or rejection is dependent on the value of Hamming Distance. After matching the binary value of presented iris with the database stored in the server, the result is transmitted to the client.
