Analysis of Aging Characteristic using the Switching Current of Electrical Point Machine (선로전환기의 전환전류를 이용한 노화 특성 분석)

  • A point machine requires lots of time and attention in terms of maintenance, since it causes 40% of failures among the railway signaling devices. The senescence of the point machine critically matters to the overall turnout system. In this paper, we analyzed the aging characteristics of the point machine by using the switching current of the point machine. The analysis is done based on the switching current measurements of the point machines deployed in the Sehwa outdoor test site and the Korail Kyongbu line. It is expected that the analysis result can be utilized for real-time diagnosis in the aspect of the maintenance of the point machines and predicting abnormal operations.

  • This study presents the core contents and superiority of localized Point-Machine which Alstom transferred its technology to Samsung SDS for High Speed Rail, developed based on existing MJ8l Point-Machine that is used in France and other countries. The scope of study includes introducing performance improvement of Localized MJ8l and conducting comparative analysis between Localized MJ8l and french products as well as NS type Point-Machine that has been deployed in the existing rail link. Moreover, the general architecture, features and test run results of Localized MJ8l are described.

  • This paper describes the development of on the machine measuring(OMM) system which can directlry measure the three dimensional machined dimensilnal accuracy using scanning probe in milling machine. Two algolithms, continuous path(CP) measurement using UC program and CAD data assisted point to point(PTP) measurement, were developed regarding specification of scanning probe. The OMM system was contructed to verify the developed system suing the proposed algorithm, and actually measured three kinds of machined TV shadow mask molds. The developed system was evaluated it's repeatability and compared with the current measurement system of CMM(Coording Measuring Machine) in terms of relative accuracy and time reduction and productivity increase.

  • A turnout serves to switch train from one line to another. The turnout consists of a Point which is switchs the rail to induce direction, and a Crossing which is cross over two line on the plane surface, and a Lead where is middle section in Point to Crossing. Point machine, consists of a turnout, is important facilities in railway signal, that is safety issue relates in derailment of the train. Recently, train delay and accident frequently occurred because of the turnout include in a point machine trouble of electrical and mechanical. So in order to prevent train accident the research is advanced, install of normal and reverse indication lamp in a point machine, development of adherence detector for sensing the status of adhesion between the stock rails and tongue rails etc. In this paper investigates the problem which is connected with a turnout trouble, include in a point machine, occurrence at the time of train accident, and then proposed to the safety system model in order to prevent the train accident in turnout.

  • General portal machine represents a distinct weak spot concerning their structural behavior because of long protruding structure components, such as saddles and rams. The weak point causes the deformation of the machine tool and consequently rises a severe machining error. The purpose of this study is to improve the structural design of crossrail in order to minimize it's distortion. Tool Center Point (TCP) was chosen as a reference point for evaluating the distortion effect of a crossrail and topological optimization was adopted as a method of structural design improvement. The displacements of TCP according to the machining positions were investigated by structural analyses for both of original crossrail design and the improved one. The comparing results showed that the displacement of TCP could be reduced about 55% maximum.

  • The electric point machine, which is used for the control of the turnout used to change the track of the train, is very important in the railway system. Various wired and wireless real-time monitoring systems are used to check the status of the point machine, but there is a possibility of malfunction due to sensor or network error. In this paper, a redundant monitoring system was designed that incorporates the point machine monitoring system and the CCTV camera control system to double check the operation of the point machine. In the point machine monitoring system, the operating state of the railway converter is monitored, alarmed and transmitted over the network. The CCTV camera control system, which received this information, was required to record the status of the turnout and the point machine in question and send it to the administrator. The manager of the railway line can check the conversion status of the railway through the monitoring screen for the railway line switcher first, and then confirm the switching status directly through the CCTV camera image, thereby improving the reliability of the point machine operation. It will also enable the safe and efficient operation of personnel for management. It is expected to contribute to preventing a derailment caused by a malfunction of the point machine.

  • The railway point machine is an especially important component that changes the traveling direction of a train. Failure of the point machine may cause a serious railway accident. Therefore, early detection of failures is important for the management of railway condition monitoring systems. In this paper, we propose a noise-robust anomaly detection method in railway condition monitoring systems using sound data. First, we extract feature vectors from the spectrogram image of sound signals and convert it into modulation feature to ensure robust performance, and lastly, use the support vector machine (SVM) as an early anomaly detector of railway point machines. By the experimental results, we confirmed that the proposed method could detect the anomaly conditions of railway point machines with acceptable accuracy even under noisy conditions.

  • Softwares, especially like machine learning applications, affect human's life style tremendously. Accordingly, the importance of the cost model for softwares increases rapidly. As cost models, LOC(Line of Code) and M/M(Man-Month) estimates the quantitative aspects of the software. Differently from them, FP(Function Point) focuses on estimating the functional characteristics of software. FP is efficient in the aspect that it estimates qualitative characteristics. FP, however, has a limit for evaluating machine learning softwares because FP does not evaluate the critical factors of machine learning software. In this paper, we propose an extended function point(ExFP) that extends FP to adopt hyper parameter and the complexity of its optimization as the characteristics of the machine learning applications. In the evaluation reflecting the characteristics of machine learning applications. we reveals the effectiveness of the proposed ExFP.

  • An electric point-machine which changes over a turnout so that it enables a train to be operated in the routine that a train is to proceed has been installed and used in most of the railways such as not only urban railways but also main-line railways. Most of the maintenance works in this electric point-machine is that the maintenance workers manually measure motor power, control power and display power in the site with the use of portable counters. Especially in case of NS or NS-AM electric point machine, the maintenance cycle is so frequent that during the operation casualty accidents caused by carelessness occurs as well as more staff is required for this measurement. In this paper we propose a system for monitoring the state of electric point machine installed in the site to improve maintenance efficiency and it is expected that this monitoring system confirms any measured values on electric point machines in real-time and improves maintenance efficiency.

  • In order to minimize straightness error of deflected shafts, a automatically bending process control system is designed, fabricated, and studied. The multi-step straightening process and the three-point bending process are developed for the geometric adaptive straightness control. Load-deflection relationship, on-line identification of variations of material properties, on-line springback prediction, and studied for the three-point bending processes. Selection of a loading point supporting condition are derved form fuzzy inference and fuzzy self-learning method in the multi-step straighternign process. Automatic straightening machine is fabricated by using the develped ideas. Validity of the proposed system si verified through experiments.
