비선형 내력법을 이용한 단일 공기막의 형상 탐색 (Form Finding of a Single-layered Pneumatic Membrane Structures by Using Nonlinear Force Method)

  • This study aims to develop a form-finding algorithm for a single-layered pneumatic membrane. The initial shape of this pneumatic membrane, which is an air-supported type pneumatic membrane, is to find a state in which a given initial tension and internal pneumatic pressure are in equilibrium. The algorithm developed to satisfy these conditions is that a nonlinear optimization problem based on the force method considering the deformed shape is formulated, and, it's able to find the shape by iteratively repeating the process of obtaining a solution of the governing equations. An computational technique based on the Gauss-Newton method was used as a method for obtaining solutions of nonlinear equations. In order to verify the validity of the proposed form-finding algorithm, a single-curvature pneumatic membrane example and a double-curvature air pneumatic membrane example were adopted, respectively. In the results of these examples, it was possible to well observe the step-by-step convergence process of the shape of the pneumatic membrane, and it was also possible to confirm the change in shape according to the air pressure. In addition, the calculation results of the shape and internal force after deformation due to initial tension, air pressure, and self-weight were obtained.

  • Pneumatic cylinder meter-out driving apparatus is used widely because it is clean, lightweight, and can be easily serviced. In this study an estimation method of energy consumption for pneumatic cylinder meter-out driving apparatus is proposed. The proposed method is derived from state equation and energy equation of air, and, the equation of motion of a moving part of a pneumatic cylinder reflecting the characteristics of the meter-out driving. The effectiveness of the proposed method is proved by simulation study and it demonstrates that the proposed method can evaluate the energy consumption quickly and easily when the parameters of the driving apparatus are changed.

  • For the prevention of environmental pollution, there have been many researches which are eco-friendly vehicles in the automobile industry. In this paper, we studied for the non-pneumatic tires(NPT)can increase fuel consumption compared to conventional pneumatic tires. On driving, energy loss of tires occur when tires impact an obstacle on the road. This energy loss directly is relate to the fuel efficiency. Therefore, the energy loss of non-pneumatic tires is compared before and after impact. In this study, the results of energy loss of non-pneumatic tires and pneumatic tires was compared, when tires are rolled over an obstacle. As a result, the energy loss of non-pneumatic tires was less than pneumatic tires. This researches were performed the ABAQUS using finite element method and obtained the difference of velocity and kinetic energy from the program.

  • In this paper, a friction compensation method using a disturbance observer is proposed for an impedance control of pneumatic manipulator. It is assumed that the generated torque by a pneumatic actuator can be estimated based on the pressure signals and the discharge volume. In order to improve the dynamic characteristics of the pneumatic actuator driven by meter out method, we construct the inner torque control system by feeding back the generated torque. In order to reduce the influence of disturbances comprising friction torque and parameter variations of plant, the impedance control system is constructed with a disturbance observer which estimates the disturbances based on the generated torque of pneumatic actuator, the angular velocity and the reaction torque. From some experiments, it is confirmed that the proposed control system is effective to improve the robustness for the friction torque in the impedance control of a pneumatic manipulator.

지반진동절연을 위한 공압제진대의 전달률 설계기법 (An Efficient Transmissibility-design Technique for Pneumatic Vibration Isolator)

  • Pneumatic vibration isolator has a wide application for ground-vibration isolation of vibration-sensitive equipments. Recent advances In precision machine tools and instruments such as nano-technology or medical devices require a better isolation performance, which can be efficiently done by precise modeling- and design- of the isolation system. This paper will discuss an efficient transmissibility design method for pneumatic vibration isolator by employing the complex stiffness model of dual-chamber pneumatic spring developed in our previous research. Three design parameters of volume ratio between the two pneumatic chambers, the geometry of capillary tube connecting the two pneumatic chambers and finally the stiffness of diaphragm necessarily employed for prevention of air leakage were found to be important factors in transmissibility design. Based on design technique that maximizes damping of dual-chamber pneumatic spring, trade-off among the resonance frequency of transmissibility, peak transmissibility and transmissibility in high frequency range was found, which was not ever stated in previous researches. Furthermore this paper will discuss about negative role of diaphragm in transmissibility design. Then the design method proposed in this paper will be illustrated through experiment at measurements.

공기압실린더의 누설유량 계측에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Measurement Method of Leakage for Pneumatic Cylinder)

  • In this study, a measurement method of leakage flow-rate for pneumatic driving apparatus is proposed. The existing measurement methods of leakage flow-rate of air need disassemble the test component. Therefore, there is no effective method to measure the leakage flow-rate while operating pneumatic driving apparatus. In this study, the leakage flow-rate is measured from the pressure change in an isothermal chamber that can realize isothermal conditions by stuffing the steel wool into it. Therefore, a wide range of flow-rate could be measured only from the pressure response and the leakage flow-rate can be measured during operating pneumatic driving apparatus. The effectiveness of the proposed method is proved by experimental results.

  • In this study, an evaluation equation of energy efficiency of pneumatic driving apparatus is proposed. The evaluation equation is derived from state equation and energy equation of air in a control volume, and, the equation of motion of a moving part of a pneumatic cylinder. As a result, distribution of consumption energy and energy efficiency of pneumatic driving apparatus can be analyzed quantitatively. The effectiveness of the proposed method is proved by a pneumatic cylinder driving apparatus using a meter-out driving method.

  • A method for the position control of a pneumatic cylinder using a linearized controller is proposed. Pneumatic cylinder has highly nonlinear characteristics and modelling of the system has been difficult. Compliance of the pneumatic cylinder is materially changed according to the operating position. So, in the case that fixed gain controller obtained by a linearized model at a specified position is used, response of the cylinder should be changed according to the operating position. In order to get a designed results regardless of operating positions, a controller for compensation of the nonlinear characteristic with a linearlization compensator is designed and simulation results show that this method is appropriate for the control object.

  • This paper is concerned with effective operating method of pneumatic on-off valves for improving position control accuracy, valve life-time and position settling time using modified pulse width modulation with dead-zone (MPWMD). The pneumatic system using on-off valves has advantage of simple construction and low cost compared with a system with servo-valves. The performance of the proposed control method is investigated experimentally for the position control of a pneumatic cylinder using on-off valves. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm for valve operation can be used to obtain fast and accurate position control compared to the conventional PWMD algorithm. It is also shown that the use of the proposed MPWMD algorithm for the position control significantly reduces the number of valve switching and noise.
