The perceived needs and purchase experiences of college students in regard to goods and services and the relationship between the two variables were investigated. Data on 387 college studentswere analyzed to test the level of their perceived needs and purchase experiences of 43 goods and services. Results showed that respondents perceived cellular phones, going to movies and plays, books, entertainment and alcohol, which had been regarded as optional goods in the past, as highly necessary for their daily lives. On the other hand, 5 items that had been purchased by the highest number of respondents were food at restaurants, beverages at cafes, alcohol, movies and plays, and on-line avatars. The level of perceived necessity and purchase experience were positively correlated in general, although there were a few exception.

Hetero-dimer anions of naphthalene (Np), anthracene (An), phenanthrene (Ph) and pyrene (Py) were investigated using the time-of-flight mass spectrometer (TOF-MS), anion photoelectron spectroscopy (PES) and theoretical calculation. There are two possible geometries with their electron affinity (EA) difference: parallel displaced (PD) and T-shaped. Dispersion force plays a key role in PD structure with the formation of a new anionic core while ${\pi}$-hydrogen interaction plays a key role in T-shaped structure with the monomer anionic core. The optimized structures and charge distributions can simply be explained by the relative difference of EA.

The purpose of this study was to examine preschool children's participation tendency and use of play materials in imaginative play. The subjects for the study included 22 boys and girls in nursery school. These children were observed for 110-3-minutes of play behavior during free play at nursery school, especially in block area and housekeeping area. The results obtained from the study were as follows. 1. There was a significant association between paricipation tendency in imaginative play and age or sex, Boys engaged in more social imaginative play than girls, and four-year-olds engaged in more social imaginative play than three-year-olds. 2. There was sex difference in the content of imaginative play and use of play materials. That is, boys usually chose masculine kinds of toys such as block, cars, trucks, and manipulative materials. And the boys' common fantasies were about car, robert and fighting. Girls usually chose play dough, kitchen sets, and blocks and there were maines stories of family life and cooking. 3. Children preferred to use more realistic toys in imaginative plays and there were few cases of imaginative plays with no materials.

The present design, which is English Zone Development Project for 'G' Elementary School at Seo gu, Incheon, contained various booths for experiential learning corners as well as spaces of teaching learning through group study, dramas and role plays, breaking away from the structure and atmosphere of traditional language labs, and at the same time it include a school building as an affiliated space where the whole students can gather for discussion and learning. The general design concept adopted the atmosphere of an exotic street, installing five theme booths (airport, bank, hospital, book/game store and shop) along the wall and applying the image of road to the floor in order to perform role plays. The blackboard and furniture were also designed to produce the atmosphere of street so that elementary students take interest and actively participate in learning.

Not much is known about the membrane trafficking of TRPV1, a key player in pain transduction. Rab11-FIP3, which plays a role in various intracellular transportation pathways, has been reported to interact with TRPV1. In this study, in order to examine the role of Rab11-FIP3 in the membrane trafficking of TRPV1, Rab11-FIP3 expression in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) was inhibited using a siRNA technique. Transportation of TRPV1 to membranes was found to decrease when Rab11-FIP3 expression was inhibited, consistent with the results obtained with TRPV1-transfected HEK cells. Taken together, these results indicate that Rab11-FIP3 plays a role in the membrane trafficking of TRPV1.

We measured the optical properties in Ag/chalcogenide films with the exposure of 325nm-Held laser In addition we have investigated the Ag doping mechanism as considering the changes of Ag-concentration distribution and optical energy gap ( $E_{op}$ ) with Photon-dose. The "windows" characteristics of Ag thin film occur around the wavelength of 325 nm and the Ag is evaluated to be transparent, without an absorption, in the region. While the $E_{op}$ of S $b_2$ $S_3$ thin film was changed largely by an exposure of HeNe laser(632.8 nm) an exposure of HeCd laser resulted in relatively small variation of $E_{op}$ . Therefore it is thought that photon absorption at the metal layer plays an important role in Ag photodoping.on at the metal layer plays an important role in Ag photodoping.

The distinction of alienable/inalienable possessions plays a crucial role in determining the acceptability of Multiple Case Constructions (MCCs) in Korean. Recently, Yeon (2003, 2010) introduced so-called contiguous alienable possessions and mentioned that these types of possessions also affect the acceptability of MCCs. This paper experimentally examines how these three kinds of possessions influence the acceptability of MCCs. Since animacy also plays a role in the MCCs, this paper also examines how animacy affects the acceptability of MCCs. The experiments were designed following Johnson (2008), and the native speakers' intuition was measured and statistically analyzed. Through the experiment, the following facts were observed: (i) Both three types of possessions and animacy play a role in determining the acceptability of MCCs, (ii) The contiguous possessions behave close to inalienable possessions, rather than alienable possessions, and (iii) There was an interaction between three types of possessions and animacy.

Glycosylation is one form of protein modification and plays a key role in protein stability, function, signaling regulation and even cancer. NleB and SseK are bacterial effector proteins and possess glycosyltransferase activity, even though they have different substrate preferences. NleB/SseKs transfer the GlcNAc sugar to an arginine residue of host proteins, leading to reduced $NF-{\kappa}B-dependent$ responses. By combining X-ray crystallography, NMR, molecular dynamics, enzyme kinetic assays and in vivo experiments, we demonstrated that a conserved HEN (His-Glu-Asn) motif in the active site plays a key role in enzyme catalysis and virulence. The lid-domain regulates the opening and closing of the active site and the HLH domain determines the substrate specificity. Our findings provide evidence for the enzymatic mechanism by which arginine can be glycosylated by SseK/NleB enzymes.

The c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) plays essential roles in apoptosis and cell survival. Because apoptosis is promoted by blocking the MEK kinase1-mediated activation of JNK1, we tested whether JNK1 plays dual roles in apoptosis. We show here that JNK1 activity is differentially up-regulated in a two-tiered fashion by specific mechanisms during taxol- or ginsenoside Rh2-induced apoptosis. The early phase of JNK1 activation, but not apoptosis is prevented by expressing the dominant negative SEK1 mutant. (omitted)

This paper examines how nation-specific history of Asian war brides affects different representations of war brides in Velina Hasu Houston's Tea (1984) and Julia Cho's The Architecture of Loss (2003). While war brides had long been excluded from American history, Japanese war brides were brought to public attention in the 1980s. Korean war brides, on the other hand, were kept out of sight until the 2000s. Focusing on how this time gap is related to ethnic difference, this paper analyzes dramaturgical differences between the two plays such as the presence/absence of war bride on stage or ethnic solidarity/familial reconciliation as the main device of war bride memorialization. Such differences, the paper suggests, stem from ethnic/historical differences between Korean and Japanese war brides. Through historical interpretations of the plays, this paper argues that America's military relationships with Korea and Japan were reproduced within the Asian-American families of each drama in ways that raise questions about pan-Asian identity.
