The CMA algorithmis most widely investigated blind algorithm and the most widely used one in practice. But, since nonlinear CM cost function have not closed form solution about the optimum weight. There have been difficultiesto analyze the CMA equalizer's theoretical performance. Recently, Zeng presents the notable theoretical resultabout the MSE of CM-minimizing estimators for the FIR linear channel in the presence of AWGN. Through this method, It wouldbe possible to campare the theoretical performance between CMA and Wiener equalizer in terms of MSE. In this paper, based on Zeng's method, we first calculate the theoretical MSE bound of CMA equalizer in partial response channel which is widely used in HDD, digital VCR such as high-density digital recording.playback systems. We confirmedthis result withthe computer simulation. Except this, we also performedthe theoretical and simulation analysis about the modified CMA equalizer, which was proposed to improve the performance of CMA equalizer in partial response channel. Finally, we compare and evaluate the performance analysis results between CMA and Modified CMA equalizer.

In this paper, we present a new buffer pool management scheme designed for video type news objects to build a cost-effective News On Demand storage server for serving users requests beyond the limitation of disk bandwidth. In a News On Demand Server where many of users request for video type news objects have to be serviced keeping their playback deadline, the maximum numbers of concurrent users are limited by the maximum disk bandwidth the server provides. With our proposed buffer cache management scheme, a requested data is checked to see whether or not it is worthy of caching by checking its average arrival interval and current disk traffic density. Subsequently, only granted news objects are permitted to get into the buffer pool, where buffer allocation is made not on the block basis but on the object basis. We evaluated the performance of our proposed caching algorithm through simulation. As a result of the simulation, we show that by using this caching scheme to support users requests for real time news data, compared with serving those requests only by disks, 30% of extra requests are served without additional cost increase.
An instable wireless channel condition causes more packet losses and retransmissions due to interference, fading, station mobility, and so on. Therefore video streaming service over a wireless networks is a challenging task because of the changes in the wireless channel conditions and time-constraints characteristics of the video streaming services. To provide efficient video streaming over a wireless networks, QoS-enhanced MAC protocol, IEEE 802.11e, is standardized recently. Tn this paper, we propose a new network-adaptive H.264 video streaming mechanism in the IEEE 802.11e wireless networks. To improve the quality of video streaming services, video stream has to adapt to the changes in the wireless channel conditions. The wireless channel conditions are estimated by the packet loss probability and informed to the application layer by the cross-layering. According to the wireless channel information, the video streaming application filters out the low-priority data. This adaptation mechanism efficiently uses system resources because it drops the low-priority data in advance. Therefore, our cross-layer design can provide improved video streaming services to the end-user. Through the implementation and performance evaluation, we prove that the proposed mechanism improves the QoS of the video streaming by providing the smoothed playback.

Recently, to utilize the limited bandwidth effectively, the concept of partial response (PR) signaling has widely been adopted in both the high-speed data transmission and high-density digital recording/playback systems such as digital microwave, digital subscriber loops, hard disk drives, digital VCR's and digital versatile recordable disks and so on. This paper is concerned with adaptive equalization of partial response channels particularly for the magnetic recording channels. Specifically we study how the PR channel equalizers work for different choices of desired or reference signals used for adjusting the equalizer weights. In doing so, we consider three different configurations that are actually implemented in the commercial products mentioned above. First of all, we show how to compute the theoretical values of the optimum Wiener solutions derived by minimizing the mean-squared error (MSE) at the equalizer output. Noting that this equalizer MSE measure cannot be used to fairly compare the three configurations, we propose to use the data MSE that is computer just before the final detector for the underlying PR system. We also express the data MSE in terms of the channel impulse response values, source data power and additive noise power, thereby making it possible to compare the performance of the configurations under study. The results of extensive computer simulation indicate that our theoretical derivation is correct with high precision. Comparing the three configurations, it also turns out that one of the three configurations needs to be further improved in performance although it has an apparent advantage over the others in terms of memory size when implemented using RAM's for the decision feedback part.
In Mobile IP-enabled wireless LAN (WLAN), packet flows are corrupted due to the handoff of a mobile node (MN) at the link and network layers, which results in burst packet losses and can cause temporary buffer underflow in a streaming client at the MN. This transient behavior hurts time-sensitive streaming media applications severely. Among many suggestions to address this handoff problem, few studies are concerned with empirical issues regarding the practical validation of handoff options on the time-sensitive streaming media applications. In this paper, targeting seamless streaming over Mobile IP-enabled WLAN, we introduce a seamless media streaming framework that estimates accurate pre-buffering level to compensate the handoff latency. In addition, we propose a link-layer (L2) assisted seamless media streaming system as a preliminary version of this framework. The proposed system is designed to reduce the handoff latency and to overcome the playback disruption from an implementation viewpoint. A packet buffering and forwarding mechanism with L2 trigger is implemented to reduce the handoff latency and to eliminate burst packet losses generated during the handoff. A pre-buffering adjustment is also performed to compensate the handoff latency. The experimental results show that the proposed approach eliminates packet losses during the handoff and thus verify the feasibility of seamless media streaming over Mobile IP-enabled WLAN.
The brand new type of mobile terminal services are kept being introduced in accordance with the development of mobile communication technology. Among many kinds of mobile application services, the PoC application standard which is using instant messaging service and group calls method with the existing walkie-talkie technology has been finished as the version 1.0 after tremendously active discussion and is being continued to be confirmed as 2.0 and 2.1. The PoC Box, which is discussed for replacing the PoC client and intermediate object as a voice messaging box, is currently being introduced and the biggest issues for PoC Box technology topics include the part of saved informations' processing and effective multimedia contents' transmission in the PoC Box system. In this research, we propose that the PaC client could effectively transmit the media to the end-user by specifying the playback location or range, focusing on the contents and the methods of dynamic controlling for saved media in PoC Box. This paper deals with the way of dynamic controlling method using the RTSP which is appropriate for PoC Box and the effective method for generation, expression, processing of various multimedia contents including audio and video objects.
Reexamining Brecht's theoretical hypotheses in terms of cognitive science, this essay arrived at several temporary interpretations. Cognitive science implies that empathy can precede the rational understanding in Verfremdungseffekt. The spectator tends to simulate the unfamiliar incident and character and feels the consequential embodied emotion that leads to the cognitive understanding. The similar situation can be found in social gestus. According to cognitive science, gesture(social gestus) is simulated in the mirror-neuron of spectator, arousing consequently the embodied emotion that triggers the succeeding understanding. The spectator apts to experience and feel physically the moving gesture before decoding it as a social signification. Brecht's intention that attempts to reveal the duality of actor and character by eliminating the fourth wall is negated by cognitive science. According to the theory of conceptual blending, the spectator under the eliminated fourth wall mixes actor and character, and simulates this blending image so that he experiences it imaginatively. As such, another kind of illusion can be formed when a fourth wall is collapsed. Meanwhile, the critical thinking of spectator Brecht wanted can be hard to occur during the performance. It is necessary for the spectator to recollect the bygone dialogue and action in terms of social context as if he presses the pause, stopping the playback while watching a play in video. In this respect the social meaning Brecht intended can be achieved more effectively by the stop motion like tableau. It would not only give the time for the spectator to consider the implied social signification, but also make him possible to decode a semiotic meaning as if interpreting a still picture. Or it can be delivered by the dialogue that expresses the playwright's critical judgement. In this case, the subject of critical thinking is not the spectator but the author. The alternative explanation that the cognitive science suggests illuminates theoretically the reasons why Brecht's theory fails to be realized in practice. In a sense, Brecht's theory is nothing but a theoretical hypothesis. It takes the premise that the emotion hinders the rational thinking, understanding emotion and reason oppositively like Plato. This assumption is negated easily by the recent cognitive science that sees the reason as a by-product of physical experience including emotion. The rational understanding, in this sense, begins from the embodied emotion. As such the cognitive science denies the dichotomy of emotion and reason that Brecht adopted. The theoretical hypothesis of cognitive science makes us recognize again the importance of bodily experience in theatre. In theatre the spectator tends to experience physically before decoding the intellectual meaning. The spectator Brecht wanted, therefore, is far from the reality. The spectator usually experiences and reacts physically before decoding the meaning critically. Thus Brecht's intention can be realized by the embodied emotion resulted from simulation. This tentative interpretation suggests that we need to pay more attention to the empirical study of spectatorship, not remaining in a speculative study.
ASVspoof 2017 deals with detection of replay attacks and aims to classify real human voices and fake voices. The spoofed voice refers to the voice that reproduces the original voice by different types of microphones and speakers. data augmentation research on image data has been actively conducted, and several studies have been conducted to attempt data augmentation on voice. However, there are not many attempts to augment data for voice replay attacks, so this paper explores how audio modification through data augmentation techniques affects the detection of replay attacks. A total of 7 data augmentation techniques were applied, and among them, dynamic value change (DVC) and pitch techniques helped improve performance. DVC and pitch showed an improvement of about 8% of the base model EER, and DVC in particular showed noticeable improvement in accuracy in some environments among 57 replay configurations. The greatest increase was achieved in RC53, and DVC led to an approximately 45% improvement in base model accuracy. The high-end recording and playback devices that were previously difficult to detect were well identified. Based on this study, we found that the DVC and pitch data augmentation techniques are helpful in improving performance in the voice spoofing detection problem.
This study is aimed at identifying the possibility and effectiveness of teaching methods education for professors through the development of online teaching content and providing important implications for future online teaching content development and utilization strategies by looking at the differences in the experience and needs of professors who have taken online teaching content. A university surveyed 83 professors who took the seven teaching contents developed between 2015 and 2018, and took them from 2017 to 2019. As a result of the study, professors often took online teaching content for self-development purposes, were satisfied with the overall content, and cited the low psychological burden and resistance of education through personal learning, and the possibility of repeated learning online. The differences between importance and execution in content composition, the areas of statistically significant difference were easy-to-understand delivery, appropriate and sufficient examples, interest and motivation, facilitating interaction between learners, appropriate difficulty, reflection of current trends, appropriate presentation order and ethical composition. The importance level recognized by professors in the area was higher than execution level. In conclusion, opinions for improving online teaching content were appropriate and sufficient examples in the area of content composition, interest and motivation, and reflection of the latest trends. In the area of ease of use, there was stable playback, relay function, and location-independent.

Chronic diseases have been increasing recently as the average life expectancy of humans has been extended, and this trend has caused problems such as the widespread demand for health and rehabilitation services and rising medical costs. In order to solve this problem, the community-based rehabilitation has been developed and strengthened in Korea and gradually promoted since 2019. It is important to secure access to clients who want to use services to revitalize community-based rehabilitation. So in this study, as part of the community-based rehabilitation, intends to devise smartphone applications designs and develop a prototype to secure access to community-based occupational therapy services based on occupation and activities. For Occupational Therapy Practice Framework (OTPF), International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), and Allen Diagnostic Module-2 (ADM-2) were used to devise and categorize occupation and activity based application content, and link OTPF, ICF, and ADM-2 through prior research analysis and expert meetings. The derived content was visualized through literature review and activity analysis, and was implemented to enable direct playback within the application using the YouTube API, and finally developed a prototype application. The Android Studio 3.5.2 for Windows 64-bit was used to build the application prototype. In further research, converging various digital technologies for user convenience and additionally researching community-based occupational therapy service providers opinions and service user satisfaction will improve accessibility to community-based occupational therapy services for clients who have difficulty occupational performance in the community.
