Novel platinum(IV) complexes with asymmetric chiral diamine ligands cis,cis,trans-A2PtCl2(X)2 (X = OH, OCOCH3, OCOC2H5, A2 =NH2CH(CH3)CH2NH(c-C6H11)(apcha), NH2CH(CH3)CH2NH(c-C5H9)(apcpa)) have been prepared. One of the platinum(IV) complexes, (apcpa)PtCl2(OCOC2H5)2(6), was subjected to X-ray crystallographic analysis. The crystal structure of (apcpa)PtCl2(OCOC2H5)2 (monoclinic, P21 (No. 4), a = 9.1391(1), b = 22.2517(1), c = 10.0687(1)Å, β= 109.105(1)。 , V = 1934.80(3)Å3 , Z = 4, R1 = 0.0532) exhibits that the platinum atom achieves a typical octahedral arrangement with two nitrogen atoms in cis positions and two carboxylato group in trans positions. The spectroscopic data disclose that these platinum(IV) complexes are stable and their molecular structures are retained in aqueous solution. The title complexes are highly cytotoxic in vitro but do not exhibit oral anticancer activity in vivo.
Platinum(II) complexes of R-2,2'-diaminobinaphthyl (R-dabn), [Pt(R-dabn)(H2O)2]Cl2, [Pt(R-dabn)(R-Pn)]Cl2, [Pt(R-dabn)(R-bn)]Cl2, and platinum(II) complexes of S-2,2'-diaminobinaphthyl (S-dabn), [Pt(S-dabn)(H2O)2]Cl2, [Pt(S-dabn)(S-Pn)]Cl2, and [(Pt(S-dabn)(S-bn)]Cl2 have been prepared. (R-Pn and S-Pn are, respectively R- and S isomer of 2,3-diaminobutane). R-Pn and S-bn are, respectively R and S isomer of 2,3-diaminopropane). In the vicinity of the B-absorption band region of dabn, the circular dichroism spectra of platinum(Ⅱ) complexes of R-dabn series show a positive B-band followed by a negative higher energy A-band, which is generally understood as the splitting pattern for a ${\lambda}$ conformation, while the circular dichroism spectra of platinum(Ⅱ) complexes of S-dabn series show a negative B-band followed by a positive higher energy A-band in the long-axis polarized absorption region as expected for a $\delta$ conformation.
In this study, we report the one-pot synthesis of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) containing platinum nanoparticles with catalytic activity to break down hydrogen peroxide as a peroxidase-mimicking catalyst. A single reducing agent was used to reduce graphene oxide and a platinum precursor at a moderately low temperature of 70℃. The rGO was homogeneously decorated with platinum nanoparticles. The catalytic activity of Pt-rGO was investigated for the oxidation of 3,3',5,5'- tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), a peroxidase substrate, in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. The Pt-rGO coupled with glucose oxidase was also able to detect glucose at millimolar concentrations (up to 1 mM). Our results show that the Pt-rGO composite is a promising catalyst for the detection of hydrogen peroxide. This method was also applied for the detection of glucose.
To raise the utilization of precious platinum currently used as catalyst for PAFC's electrode, it is very important to make fine particles of platinum. This study, for preparing highly dispersed platinum catalyst on carbon black, method. And then loading yield of platinum catalyst on carbon black and the particle size were investigated by DCP and XRD and/or TEM respectively. The colloid method by which platinum particle size could be reduced as small as below $30{\AA}$ showed the best result among them, and the loading yield of platinum catalyst on carbon black was above 99%.

$AgNO_3$ has the characteristic is controlling the inhibition or promotion of particle growth by adsorbing onto specific facets of platinum nanoparticles. Therefore, in this study, $AgNO_3$ was added to control the shape of platinum nanoparticles during the liquid phase reduction process. Consequently, platinum cubes were synthesized when $AgNO_3$ of 1.1 mol% (with respect to the Pt concentration) was added into the solution. Platinum octahedrons were synthesized when 32 mol% (with respect to the Pt concentration) was added into the solution. These results demonstrate that the metal salt $AgNO_3$, effectively controlled the relative growth rates of each facet of Pt nano particles.
When platinum wan impregnated on carbon by methanol, surfactant have an important effect on the stability of platinum colloid. As the increase of amounts of surfactant enhanced the stability of platinum colloid, the particle size of platinum on carbon was diminished. But, after heat treatment, residue of surfactant remained in electrode to decrease current density of oxygen reduction. To remove surfactant, as temperature of heat treatment enhanced, platinum particle was aggromerated and current density was decreased.
Cisplatin is often effective in cancer treatment, but its clinical use is limited because of its nephrotoxicity. We have synthesized new platinum(II) coordination complexes (PC-1 & PC-2) containing trans-${\iota}$ and cis-1,2-diaminocyclohexane (DACH) as carrier ligands and L-3 -phenyllactic acid (PLA) as a leaving group with the aim of reducing nephrotoxicity but maintaining its anticancer activity. In this study, new platinum(II) complex compounds were evaluated for selective cytotoxicity on cancer cell-lines and normal kidney cells. The new platinum complexes have demonstrated high efficacy in the cytotoxicity against human bladder carcinoma cell-lines (T-24/HT-1376). The cytotoxicity of these compounds against rabbit proximal renal tubular cells and human renal cortical tissues, was determined by MTT assay, the [3H]-thymidine uptake and glucose consumption test, and found to be quite less than those of cisplatin. Based on our results, these novel platinum compounds appear to be valuable lead compounds with high efficacy and low nephrotoxicity.
Well-dispersed platinum catalysts on ruthenium oxide nanofiber supports are fabricated using electrospinning, post-calcination, and reduction methods. To obtain the well-dispersed platinum catalysts, the surface of the nanofiber supports is modified using post-calcination. The structures, morphologies, crystal structures, chemical bonding energies, and electrochemical performance of the catalysts are investigated. The optimized catalysts show well-dispersed platinum nanoparticles (1-2 nm) on the nanofiber supports as well as a uniform network structure. In particular, the well-dispersed platinum catalysts on the ruthenium oxide nanofiber supports display excellent catalytic activity for oxygen reduction reactions with a half-wave potential ($E_{1/2}$) of 0.57 V and outstanding long-term stability after 2000 cycles, resulting in a lower $E_{1/2}$ potential degradation of 19 mV. The enhanced electrochemical performance for oxygen reduction reactions results from the well-dispersed platinum catalysts and unique nanofiber supports.
A method is described for the spectrophotometric determination of platinum (IV) with 2-oximino-1-indanone based on solvent extraction of Pt:2-oximino-1-indanone complex. The 2-oximino-1-indanone reacted with Pt(IV) to form a dark-orange complex which shows a characterisic maximum absorption at 342nm. The optimum PH for the platinum extraction lies between 5.4~8.0. Beer's law obeys up to 0.98-16.3ppm of platinum (IV) and the molar absorption coefficient is $1.06{\times}10^{-4}L.mol^{-1}.cm^{-1}$. The relative standard deviation of the method was $\times2.1%$. The composition of the complex is estimated to be Pt : In= 1 : 1, by the mole ratio method and ion exchange resin experiment. The optimum condition for the determination of platinum has been studied in detail. The 2-oximin-1-indanone is found to be a selectivereagent for the determination of platinum, since the synthesixed 2-oximino-1-indanone did not react with other metals such as cobalt, cadmium, copper, manganese nickel, iron, lead and zinc, to form the complex. In this studies, we have also clarified Sindhwani and Singh's spectrophotometric determination data of various metals with acenaphthenequinone monooxime (Talanta 20,248, 1973), whose results were not correct.
Platinum is a candidate of top and bottom electrode in ferroelectric random access memory and dynamic random access memory. High dielectric materials and ferroelectric materials were generally patterned by plasma etching, however, the low etch rate and low etching profile were repoted. We proposed the damascene process of high dielectric materials and ferroelectric materials for patterning process through the chemical mechanical polishing process. At this time, platinum as a top electrode was used for the stopper for the end-point detection as Igarashi model. Therefore, the control of removal rate in platinum chemical mechanical polishing process was required. In this study, an addition of $H_{2}O_{2}$ oxidizer to alumina slurry could control the removal rate of platinum. The removal rate of platinum rapidly increased with an addition of 10wt% $H_{2}O_{2}$ oxidizer from 24.81nm/min to 113.59nm/min. Within-wafer non-uniformity of platinum after chemical mechanical polishing process was 9.93% with an addition of 5wt% $H_{2}O_{2}$ oxidizer.
