This study was conducted to select sesame varieties with high cultural stabilities by comparing several parameters of agronomic traits under the different cultural environments. Of the six areas, Iksan and Jinju areas which showed positively larger environment index values were relatively adequate cultural conditions for sesame. At the comparison of cultural stability of agronomic traits by Eberhart and Russell regression model among sesame breeding lines, Suwon 169 showed more stable regression coefficient values to the number of capsules per plant, number of seeds per capsule and seed weight per plant, and Iksan 12 showed more stable regression coefficient values to culm length and weight per plant. At the comparison of cultural stability of yield per 10a, Suwon 169 and Iksan 12 among sesame breeding lines showed more stable respectively, deviation values of 0.99, 0.98 respectively, and more less regression deviation values of 0.074, 0.167 respectively. Therefore those breeding lines are comparatively higher stabilities to yield determining agronomic traits under the different cultural environments, and it was concluded that those two breeding lines had the possibility to recommend promising breeding lines in the future.

Plant growth and development strongly influenced by light quantity and its spectral composition. Young tomato plants were cultivated in growth cabinets under artificial light provided by red and blue light emitting diodes(LEDs) during 12 hours, then plants were exposed to monochromatic ultraviolet, blue, green and red lights as an end-of-day(EOD) treatment during 4 hours to study their effect on plant growth parameters. EOD lighting from various LEDs increased total fresh and dry weights as well as assimilation area compared to those in control. Blue light increased stem height, internode length and stem diameter. Monochromatic UV-A light reduced stem elongation, highly increased stomatal conductance. Compactness and health index of young tomato plants were increased in UV-A and red light treatments.

The fast-changing climatic conditions make plants to be vulnerable to many abiotic stresses. Drought stress is one of the limiting factors that affect pepper production in water deficient regions. It affects plant growth and development by altering physiological, morphological, and metabolic processes. Breeding drought tolerant varieties is one of the mitigation strategies to overcome the ever increasing drought disaster. Hence, screening of new drought tolerant pepper genotypes is essential. The current study was aimed to identify new drought tolerant genotypes among the collection of pepper genetic resources. In total, 70 pepper genotypes were screened for drought tolerance after exposure to drought stress condition. The pepper genotypes were classified as highly tolerant, intermediate, or severely sensitive to drought stress based on the phenotypic analysis. Consequently, 13 genotypes significantly exhibited higher recovery rate after drought stress and were classified as highly tolerant. Comparative analysis of morphological and physiological parameters and expression of drought responsive genes between tolerant and susceptible pepper genotypes will be presented and discussed. The identified tolerant genotypes will be useful resources for breeding drought tolerant pepper cultivars.

A simple and accurate method was developed for the quantitative analysis of oleanonic acid (OA) from mastic gum. The analysis was carried out using reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography combined with a photodiode array detector (HPLC/PDA). Our optimized method was validated by measuring various parameters, using an INNO C18 column fitted with a gradient elution system. The results revealed limits of detection and quantification of 0.34 and 1.042 ㎍/mL, respectively. The OA calibration curve exhibited excellent linearity over the concentration range of 0.0625 to 2.0 mg/mL, with r2 =0.9996. Accuracy tests revealed a high recovery rate of 99.44-103.66%, with precision values below 0.15%. These results suggest that the present analytical method can identify and quantify OA in mastic gum with high precision. The HPLC approach developed in this study might be applied to routine analyses and large-scale extraction procedures for OA content quantification.

In a project to study the hepatroprotective effect of some plant extracts four plants Ephedra foliate Boiss, Alhagi maurorum Medikus, Capsella bursa-pastoris (L.) Medik. and Hibiscus sabdariffa L. were studied. The ethanol extract of the aerial part of the first three plants and the flowers of H. sabdariffa were subjected to hepatoprotective assays using Wistar albino rats. Liver injury induced in rats using carbon tetrachloride. The biochemical parameters; serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase (SGOT), serum glutamate pyruvate transaminase (SGPT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and total bilirubin were estimated as reflection of the liver condition. Based on the good results of the biochemical parameters measurements, histopathological study was performed on the liver of rats treated with E. foliate. The normal appearance of hepatocytes indicated a good protection of the extract from carbon tetrachloride hepatotoxicity. All the results were compared with silymarin, the reference hepatoprotective drug.
This paper deals with the problem of designing an adaptive regulator in order to improve transient performance in time-response when the linear state-space model of the plant contains unknown parameters which vary within prescribed bounds. The whole possible parameter space is divided into some subspaces and multiple models and controllers are established from the view point that each controller gives satisfactory transient behavior for systems corresponding to each parameter subspace. Based on time-response and an associated cost function, an appropriate controller is selected on-line out of multiple controllers.

The PID controllers have been widely accepted in many industrial systems due to their robust performance in a wide range of operating conditions and their functional simplicity To implement a PID controller, its three parameters must be determined for the given plant. Conventional tuning methods are mainly based on experience and experiment and are lack of systematic procedure Recently. to overcome drawbacks of conventional tuning methods, genetic algorithms have been used, In this paper a real-coded genetic algorithm is employed to search for the optimal parameters of the PID controller for speed control of marine gas turbine engines. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

It is very difficult to maintain the desired tank level without any overflow or any shortage in a dangerous shemical plant and in a cooling one. Futhermore, because its dynamics are very complicate and nonlinear, it is impossible to realize the precise control using the accurate mathematical model which can be applied to the various peration modes. Nonetheless, the sliding mode controller(SMC) is known as having the robust variable structures for the nonlinear control system with the parametric perturbations and with the rapid disturbances. But the adaptive tuning algorithms for their parameters are not satisfactory. Therefore, in this paper, a Real Variable Elitist Genetic Algorithm based Sliding Mode Controller (RVEGA SMC) for the precise control of the coupled tank level was tried. The SMC's switching parameters were optimized easily and rapidly by RVEGA. The simulation results showed that the tank level could be satisfactorily controlled without and overshoot and any steady-state error by the proposed RVEGA SMC.

Welding technique is widely applied to general industry such as pressure vessel for chemical plant, pipe system, heavy industry, and automobile. There are some points which must be considered when robot system is used in welding automation process for productivity improvement. Welding quality is governed by heat input, and this quantity can be different according to shape, property, and thick of material . For desired heat input , weld input parameters such as welding voltage, current, and welding velocity must be determined with those consideration. Until now these parameters have been determined mainly by experience of operator. In this study, the size of welding zone was predicted by fuzzy rules were constructed from the relation between welding variables and weld pool size. Inverse model method which welding control input for welder is determined with optimum voltage and current by fuzzy controller is validatied by computer simulation.
The effects of design parameters for small scale hydro power(SSHP) plants due to rainfall condition have been studied. The model to predict hydrologic performance for SSHP plants is used in this study. The results from analysis for rainfall conditions based on Weibull distribution show that the capacity and load factor of SSHP site had large difference between the variation of shape and scale parameter. Especially, the hydrologic performance of SSHP site due to variation of shape parameter varied more sensitive than the case of variation of scale parameter. And also, the methodology represented in this study can be used to decide the primary design specifications of SSHP sites.
