실용적인 원전공학 교육을 위한 시스템즈 엔지니어 프로그램 (Systems Engineer Program for Practical Nuclear Power Plant Engineering Education)

  • KEPCO International Nuclear Graduate School (KINGS) is dedicated to nurturing leadership-level professionals in nuclear power plant (NPP) engineering. KINGS have designed curriculum based on two philosophies. First, we balance aspects of discipline engineering, specialty engineering, and management engineering in the framework of systems engineering. Second, KINGS have designed the curriculum so that students can learn and experience the know-what, know-how and know-why level knowledge of NPP engineering and management. The specialization programs are opened during the 2nd year for 3 trimesters and those are a process of learning through practical project courses. The objectives of the specialization programs are to help students to learn the NPP life cycle technologies in highly structured and systematic ways. The systems engineer program (SEP) is one of the specialization programs. A practical case of the SEP which was applied to the project course for the NPP electric power system design education will be elaborated in this paper.

경로분석을 이용한 사업의 효과성 분석 : 플랜트엔지니어링사업을 중심으로 (Evaluation of Program Effectiveness via Path Analysis : Focused on Plant Engineering Program)

  • When evaluating effectiveness of a R&D program, there is a tendency to simply compare the performances of the beneficiaries before and after the program or to compare the differences in the performances of the beneficiaries and the non-beneficiaries before-after the program. However, these ways of evaluating effectiveness of a program have some problems because they can not differentiate between complement effect, which facilitates corporate R&D investment, and substitute effect, which, literally, substitutes corporate R&D investment. Therefore, these problems could bring about wrong policies concerning R&D programs. In this paper, a new approach using path analysis is suggested as a means to overcome these problems and it is utilized, as an application, to evaluate the effectiveness of Plant Engineering Program conducted by Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy, Korea. First, the direct impact of government R&D investment on corporate R&D investment is analyzed, through which it is identified which of crowding-in effect (complement effect) and crowding-out effect (substitute effect) is dominant. Next, the direct effect of government R&D investment on corporate performance and the direct effect of corporate R&D investment on corporate performance is analyzed respectively. Finally, by combining the two previous analysis, the total effect of government R&D investment on corporate performance is identified. As a result, it turns out that, in Plant Engineering Program, crowding-in effect is more dominant than crowding-out effect and that Plant Engineering Program has definitely positive effect on the beneficiary in terms of corporate performance indirectly and directly.

  • Recently, because of the global recession of the offshore plant industry and low-cost orders, there has been increasing interest in strengthening the competitiveness of domestic companies for the design and production technologies of offshore plants. However, in the offshore plant design field, the Plant Design Management System (PDMS), which is a 3D CAD program for plant layout developed by AVEVA Marine, is already commonly used as offshore plant design software and widely used in large domestic shipyards and cooperative design companies. Under this background, we have been thinking about ways to design better with the existing software. In this study, we developed a parametric design program to maximize the efficiency and reduce the working time for offshore plant electrical outfit production design based on the Programmable Macro Language (PML) of PDMS. We also examined its performance. By applying the developed program to the offshore plant module selected as an application example, it was confirmed that a 50% improvement in the work efficiency of cable tray design could be obtained compared with the existing method, with work efficiency improvements of 80% or more in other field design work.

  • Human Factors Engineering(HFE) program should be developed from the early stage of the design process for Nuclear Power Plant. The HFE program is conducted in accordance with the guidance in the Standard Review Plan(SRP) NUREG 0800, Chapter 18. The major purpose of this program is to reduce the incidence of human error during the operating life of the plants. A comprehensive human factors program is prepared by KOPEC to assure that key elements of human factors involvement are not inadvertently overlooked and the early, complete, and continuing inclusion of HFE in the design process. This paper is to introduce engineering steps of the HF activities to verify that the HF involvements on man-machine interface are adequate to support safe and efficient operation of nuclear power plant. If systems are developed without sufficient consideration on the HFE in the design, such systems may cost a high price due to the malfunction of the plant induced by the human errors.

  • In this study, EMTP(Electromagnetic Transients Program) which is one of the most well-known computer simulation methods is used to collect the data for a power plant fault. EMTP is the program for an interpretation of the phenomena of electric transients, and is designed to manifest the data of the electric current and voltage etc. at the time of a power plant fault. By EMTP, I analyze the properties of the heat energy which are transferred from the electrics when a power plant fault brings out. In terms of the results of this study, it is able to measure the heat energy at a power plant fault (power transformer) and to be acquired of the related data. And moreover, these data are expected to be used as a standard for the protection of the fire owing to a high voltage power transformer fault.

  • This paper describes the automatic generation of sequence control programs for DCS(Distributed Control System), PLC(Programable Logic Controller) and so on. Since there is no same manufacturing process, it is difficult to standardize sequence programs. We propose the automatic sequence control program generator which is CAD software using knowledge engineering technique.

식물공장 재배 공정 자동화 시스템의 경제성 분석 (Economic Analysis on the Automation System of the Cultivation Process in the Plant Factory)

  • 식물공장은 통제된 공간에서 인공적인 환경을 조성과 자동화 설비를 통해 식물을 계획적으로 생산하는 시설이다. 하지만 식물공장은 내부 환경 제어 기술에 비해 재배 과정의 자동화 도입이 미비한 상황이다. 이는 다수의 근로자 투입으로 인한 운영비용 상승의 문제를 초래한다. 따라서 본 연구는 식물공장의 재배 과정에 자동화 도입 전후를 비교하여 경제성을 평가하고자 하였다. 첫째, 자동화 도입이 필요한 작업을 선정하기 위해 식물공장의 작업 과정을 파악하였다. 파악된 작업 과정은 재배 식물의 생육 과정을 중심으로 나열하고 자동화를 도입할 작업을 선정하였다. 둘째, 선정된 작업에 방안별 투입과 산출을 비교할 경제성 평가 방법을 설정하였다. 셋째, 방안별 소요비용의 계산에 필요한 변수를 설정하였다. 넷째, 방안별 소요비용의 산정을 위한 계산 식을 도출하였다. 마지막으로 작업별 손익분기점을 분석하고 전체 작업에 대한 손익분기점을 통해 운영 기간에 따른 자동화 도입의 적절성을 확인하였다. 분석 결과, 식물 재배를 위한 6가지 작업에 자동화를 도입할 경우 손익분기점은 3.4년으로 분석되었다. 이는 대상 식물공장을 3.4년 이상 운영할 경우 자동화 도입은 경제성 측면에서 우수하다고 판단할 수 있다. 본 연구는 식물공장에 자동화 도입에 따른 손익분기점을 분석함으로써 국내외 다양한 식물공장의 자동화 도입에 따른 경제성 분석을 위한 기초 자료로 활용 가능할 것으로 판단된다. 향후 수행될 연구는 자동화 도입에 적절한 식물공장의 기준을 선정하고 효율적인 자동화 도입 방안을 수립하는 연구가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

발전용 비상디젤발전기 엔진 상태진단 프로그램 개발 연구 (A Study on the Development of EDG Engine Condition Diagnosis Program in Power Plant)

  • The reliable operation of onsite emergency diesel generator(EDG) should be ensured by a conditioning monitoring system designed to maintain, monitor and forecast the reliability level of diesel generator. The purpose of this paper is to develop condition diagnosis algorithm(logic) and analysis program of engine for the accurate diagnosis in actual condition of emergency diesel generator engine. As a result of this study, we confirmed that developed engine condition diagnosis algorithm and analysis program could be efficiently applied for actual EDG engine in nuclear power plant.

  • 플랜트 기술은 산업의 종합기술로서 관련 산업으로의 파급효과가 큰 반면, 기술력을 갖추기 위해서는 장기간에 걸친 투자가 필요하며, 업계공동 혹은 국가적인 차원에서 플랜트 산업의 장기 발전전략을 수립하여 지속적으로 추진할 필요가 있다. 또한 플랜트분야 고급기술자의 노하우를 축적하고 교육할 수 있는 플랜트 교육프로그램을 서둘러 구축할 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 플랜트 교육 프로그램을 구축하여 정부기관과의 정책에 적극 부응하는 플랜트 정보제공, 기술개발 지원 등 전문적인 교육을 제공할 수 있는 교육 프로그램 개발이 필요할 것이다. 이러한 현실에서 본 연구는 건설 분야에서의 플랜트 교육 프로그램을 조사하여 국내와 국외의 플랜트 교육 현실을 파악하고 향후 국내 플랜트 기술력의 향상을 위해 필요한 교육 프로그램 개발을 위한 기초 조사로써 연구를 수행하고자 한다.
