Even though the interest to the mental hospital is recently increased, the mental hospitals are not well developed due to the pending arrangement of the concept of returning to the society and the system of local communities. Also, the hospitalism due to the isolation of patients and the long term stay in hospitals has become an issue. Despite the present circumstances, the prototype of mental health care in many field are investigated and progressively fixed. This study attempts to examine the current status of domestic and foreign mental institution and to establish the design guideline of the wards of the mental hospitals.

The purpose of this study is to analyze behaior character of dementia patients and physical environment problem through survey, research and interview on the problems arising from the dementia specialized facilities and according to the data from it, suggesting a plan to improve physical environment and design guideline. Three hospitals were chosen, which had both private space, public space and semi-public space, and dementia patients were chosen from them, who were able to move room to room by themselves.

Since the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China published the GB/T19580-2004: Criteria for Excellence Performance of China, many enterprises in China have adopted the Criteria to enhance their organization business management and to assess or self-assess organization performance. On the bases of both the Criteria for Excellence Performance of China and the survey data from China Association for Quality (CAQ), this paper systematically explores the relationships among 'leadership', 'strategy planning', 'customer and market', 'information, analysis and improvement', 'resources management', 'process management', and 'performance results' by using structural equations modeling and validates some of the anecdotal beliefs in quality management. This quantitative analysis provides a guideline for organizations in China to identify causal linkage among core value of total quality management and to identify strengths, deficiency, and opportunities to enhance competitive advantages and ensure the future business success.

Most utiltity systems are subject to frequent changes, often due to increased loads and demand to up-grade quality of service provided. Urban renewal, expressway construction and suburban growth have also caused significant changes in urban utility distribution systems. Recently, it is required that a guideline for planning of a complete system, the reasonable design and construction methods for the efficient installation common utility tunnels must be estabilished. It prompts drastic measures to guard cities and their inhabitants against the horror of massive fires in the future. Preparedness holds the key to safety.

With its rapid modernization and the unparalleled rate at which its society is aging, South Korea faces the need for a dramatic increase in its supply of nursing homes. Among the spacial components of nursing homes, residential units are considered as an essential part because the older person in nursing homes usually spend most of their time in residential units and the nursing homes are mainly composed of various residential units. It is necessary, therefore, to prepare a guideline for the plan of residential units in order to design the healthy and efficient nursing homes. This paper has first identified the concept of residential unit and analyzed 55 cases in the 51 nursing homes from 4 countries. On the basis of this analysis, architectural prototypes of residential units have been proposed and the architectural characteristics of them have been compared analytically.

This study has been started in order to provide basic information for the planning of Korean elderly care facilities by analysing For-profit elderly homes of Japan. Japan is famous for her high elderly proportion and also her fast aging speed. Therefore, Japanese experiences of trials and errors related to the supply of elderly homes will be a good guideline for Korea which is undergoing the sharp increase in elderly population. Data have been mainly collected from the official statistics of Japan and Korea. The outcomes of this study are as follows. At first, the definition of For-profit elderly homes of Japan has been proposed clearly. Secondly, the trends of them related to supply and operational characteristics have been analysed. Thirdly, the size and utilization rate of them have been analysed. And finally, the physical characteristics of elderly residences in For-profit elderly homes of Japan have been discussed.

In these past 2 decades, dramatic improvement in technology have greatly expanded the scope of female and male surgical sterilization in Korea. Female and male surgical sterilization are readily accepted because those are simple, in expensive, effective and apparently without serious postoperative complications and the failure rates are very low. In 1986, 92,000 cases of vassectoncy and 312,000 tubal sterilization were taken by the financial support of government in Korea. In this important appraisal the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs provided the guideline for the physicians on the medicoethical problems of surgical sterilization for men and women. The various medicoethical consideration that may give arise to the physicians as well as family planning workers in connection with surgical sterilization are also reviewed and discussed.

After laws for recycling promotion of construction wastes was established on December, 2003, successive technical and institutional measures related to construction wastes are driven. Typically quality standards for recycled aggregate were enacted and officially announced, and recently the quality assurance system for recycled aggregate is promoted to be established. In relation, this study reviewed major factors affecting certification examination necessary to carry out quality assurance system for recycled aggregate and related standards to guarantee the quality of recycled aggregate. More specifically it is suggested that working place examination related to manufacturing facility and planning, quality control manpower and system, environmental and safety control, etc, and quality inspection with classified by for road construction, for concrete, and for asphalt concrete are used as quality assurance standards.

Lung function reportedly declines with age and that this decline is accelerated during disease progression. However, a recent study showed that the decline might peak in the mild and moderate stage. The prognosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) can be improved if the disease is diagnosed in its early stages, prior to the peak of decline in lung function. This article reviews recent studies on early COPD and the possibility of applying the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommendation 2008 and 2015 for early detection of COPD in Korea.

In this study we suggest a method of optimization of verification hierarchy structure and system requirements management by using a verification matrix with traceability consideration. Verification items were gathered in the process of CDR(Critical Design Review), and analyzed with respect to requirements traceability structure. Missed or overlapped items were adjusted, and cross-correlated items between sub-systems were clustered and rearranged in order to structurize verification requrements (VRs). Those VRs are to be used as a guideline for the test and evaluation planning, development of test items and procedure, and system requirements management throughout the system integration stages.
