환상 열파이프의 열전달특성 연구 (Performance of an Annular Heat Pipe)

  • Heat transfer characteristics of an annular heat pipe is investigated theoretically and experimentally. An annular heat pipe transports maximum heat which is found to be a cubic polynomial function of the thickness of annulus when the annulus becomes large, maximum heat transfer rate Is limited by boiling criterion. The limit decreases inversely proportional to the thickuess of annulus. Theoretical formula for thermal resistance of annular heat pipe Is proposed. Experimental results on the maximum heat transfer rate satisfactorily agree with theory. Measured thermal resistance is found to be lower than the predicted results as the thickness of annulus becomes large.

In-plane 모드 반복굽힘 조건에서 90° 엘보우의 손상 위치와 방향에 미치는 직경과 두께 영향 (Effect of Diameter and Thickness on the Failure Location and Orientation of 90° Elbows Under In-plane Mode Cyclic Bending)

  • This study investigates the effect of the diameter and thickness on crack initiation location and orientation of 90° elbows under in-plane mode displacement-controlled cyclic bending loads. Finite element (FE) analysis of cyclic failure test is conducted for elbow specimens under in-plane mode displacement-controlled cyclic bending to identify the parameters affecting crack location and orientation. Furthermore, parametric FE analysis of the pipe elbows with various pipe nominal sizes and Schedules is performed, and the crack location and orientation from the results of FE analysis are determined. It is found that the crack location and orientation in the pipe elbows are determined mianly by the radius to thickness ratio of pipe elbows (Rm/t). It is also found that the presence of internal pressure slightly increases the value of Rm/t at which the failure mode changes.

  • The majority of fly ash pipes in thermal power stations use steel pipes. This makes frequent replacement inevitable due to severe abrasion near the hot and curved section of pipes. Recently, there have been efforts to prevent this abrasion with lining techniques using ceramic or basalt on the inner wall of the pipe. This study uses composite and anti-wear material to maximize the anti-abrasion effects on the hot section of the pipe. The thickness of the abrasion layer was determined by the abrasion ratio of material found through the experiment; the thickness of the reinforcement layer was determined by micromechanics. Experiments were conducted on epoxy resins to test for heat and abrasion. Anti-abrasion test using particle impingement was intended to recreate realistic conditions when abrasion occurs within the hot section of an actual pipe. This study analyzes the abrasion ratio obtained from both the specimen experiment and from on-site measurement and provides evidence that a combination of composites and anti-wear agent can be used to create a fly ash pipe that is lower in costs and higher in quality than what is used currently.

Probabilistic failure analysis of underground flexible pipes

  • Methods for estimating structural reliability using probability ideas are well established. When the residual ultimate strength of a buried pipeline is exceeded the limit, breakage becomes imminent and the overall reliability of the pipe distribution network is reduced. This paper is concerned with estimating structural failure of underground flexible pipes due to corrosion induced excessive deflection, buckling, wall thrust and bending stress subject to externally applied loading. With changes of pipe wall thickness due to corrosion, the moment of inertia and the cross-sectional area of pipe wall are directly changed with time. Consequently, the chance of survival or the reliability of the pipe material is decreased over time. One numerical example has been presented for a buried steel pipe to predict the probability of failure using Hasofer-Lind and Rackwitz-Fiessler algorithm and Monte Carlo simulation. Then the parametric study and sensitivity analysis have been conducted on the reliability of pipeline with different influencing factors, e.g. pipe thickness, diameter, backfill height etc.

중공축 소재를 이용한 전후방 복합압출의 성형 특성 (Forming Characteristics of the Forward and Backward Tube Extrusion Using Pipe)

  • This paper is concerned with the analysis of material flow characteristics of combined tube extrusion using pipe. The analysis in this paper concentrated on the evaluation of the design parameters for deformation patterns of tube forming, load characteristics, extruded length, and die pressure. The design factors such as punch nose radius, die corner radius, friction factor, and punch face angle are involved in the simulation. The combined tube extrusion is analyzed by using a commercial finite element code. This simulation makes use of pipe material and punch geometry on the basis of punch geometry recommended by International Cold Forging Group. Deformation patterns and its characteristics in combined forward and backward tube extrusion process were analyzed for forming loads with primary parameters, which are various punch nose radius relative to backward tube thickness. The results from the simulation show the flow modes of pipe workpiece and the die pressure at the contact surface between pipe workpiece and punch. The specific backward tube thickness and punch nose radius have an effect on extruded length in combined extrusion. The combined one step forward and backward extrusion is compared with the two step extrusion fer forming load and die pressure.

고주파 유도가열을 이용한 열간 파이프 벤딩 공정 설계 (Process Design of the Hot Pipe Bending Process Using High Frequency Induction Heating)

  • During hot pipe bending using induction heating, the wall of bending outside is thinned by tensile stress. In design requirement, the reduction of wall thickness is not allowed to exceed 12.5%. So in this study, two methods of bending, one is loading of reverse moment and the other is loading of temperature gradient, have been investigated to design pipe bending process that satisfy design requirements. For this purpose, finite element analysis with a bending radius 2Do(outer diameter of pipe) has been performed to calculate proper reverse moment and temperature gradient to be applied. Induction heating process has been analyzed to estimate influence of heating process parameters on heating characteristic by finite difference method. Then pipe bending experiments have been performed for verification of finite element and finite difference analysis results. Experimental results are in good agreement with the results of simulations.

U자형 배관 내 결빙에 대한 해석적 연구 (Numerical Analysis of Freezing Phenomena of Water in a U-Type Tube)

  • This study numerically analyzed the icing process in a U-shaped pipe exposed to the outside by considering the mushy zone of freezing water. Numerical results showed that the flow was pulled outward due to the U-shaped bend in the freezing section exposed to the outside, which resulted in the ice wave formation on the wall of the bended pipe behind. At the same time, the formation of a corrugated ice layer became apparent due to the venturi effect caused by the ice. The factors affecting the freezing were investigated, including the change of the pipe wall temperature, the water inflow velocity, and the pipe bend spacing. It was found that, as a whole, the thickness of the freezing layer increased as the pipe wall temperature decreased. It was also found that the freezing layer became relatively thin when the inflow rate of water was increased, and that the spacing of the pipe bends did not significantly impact the change in the freezing layer.

  • 본 연구에서는 소형 동-소결윅 히트파이프를 대상으로 소결윅의 구조적 인자들이 히트파이프의 열수송 한계에 미치는 영향을 이론적으로 분석하였다. 소결윅의 입자 크기의 균일성과 소결 조건이 전체적인 기공분포와 기공률을 포함한 물리적 특성에 지배적인 요소로 작용했으며, 윅 두께 및 기공의 작은 편차가 히트파이프의 열수송 한계에 대체로 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 증기온도와 경사각에 따라서 윅 두께와 평균 입자 반경, 그리고 모세관반경의 미세한 변화가 히트파이프의 모세관한계를 현저하게 변화시켰다.

암반구간의 슬러리 쉴드 TBM의 버력운송 파이프 마모에 관한 연구 (A study on the discharge pipes wear of slurry shield TBM in rock strata)

  • 본 연구에서는 광산이나 오일샌드 등의 분야에서 적용되고 있는 슬러리 파이프 마모량 측정 방법과 슬러리 파이프의 마모량 예측에 관련된 이론식들을 문헌연구를 통해 살펴보고, 실제 싱가포르 슬러리 쉴드 TBM 현장에서 주기적으로 측정한 직선부 슬러리 파이프의 두께 측정 자료로부터 평균 일일 마모율과 굴착거리당 마모율을 산정하였다. Bukit Timah Granite의 풍화등급에 따른 마모율을 구하였는데, 풍화토에 가까운 G (V) 등급 지반 및 G (III)/G (V)의 복합지반에서의 마모율이 G(I)~G (IV)의 암반 등급지반에 비해서 1.5배 높게 나타났다. 슬러리 파이프 마모율은 슬러리 운송속도에 비례하여 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 향후 지반특성 별 파이프 마모율과 합리적인 관리두께 선정을 통하여 보다 최적화된 슬러리 파이프의 교체 및 회전 주기를 산정할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
