The discharge coefficient in segmental wedge having ninety degrees vertex angle for the five kinds of opening ratio with differential pressure taps located at both upstream and downstream of one diameter of pipe was measured main purpose of this work is placed on developing the proper form of an equation for the discharge coefficient of a segmental wedge used as a primary element of flow metering devices, and from thata six-term equation which can express the variability of opening ratios was developed. The same assumption and hypotheses were used and tested for all procedures as conventional differential producers; however, the range of the opening ratio over this work is more expanded than previous studies. The opening ratios of segmental wedge, namely 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6 and 0.7 were investigated the Reynolds number based on the spool inside diameter ranges from 12,000 to 380,000, the resulting equation for the discharge coefficient is relatively simple; it contains only one variable-opening ratio because the characteristic of discharge coefficient of segmental wedge has little connection with the Reynolds number as shown by previous studies.

The damage of greenhouse has been increasing due to frequent collapse of frame in greenhouse caused by the heavy snow and strong wind. But, greenhouses are constructed by steel tube members of pipe style and pin connection of them, so these greenhouses are very weak. Therefore, this study was carried out to find the type of member section and structural frame system in stress tolerant greenhouses. The modeling types for analysis were designed in accordance with structural frame configuration and member section in greenhouse. These types of models, which are existing type, diagrid type, symmetric and asymmetric section type of frame member in greenhouse were classified. Displacement analysis varying the vertical and horizontal loads for a series of models was carried out. As a result of this paper, it was verified that the structural frame configuration of diagrid type and asymmetric type of member section is better than existing type in the frame of greenhouses against snow loads and wind loads.
The liquid entrainment and vapor pull-through offtake model of RELAP5/MOD3 had been developed for SBLOCA (Small Break Loss of Coolant Accident). The RELAP5/MOD3 model for horizontal volumes accounts for the phase separation phenomena and computes the flux of mass and energy through a branch when stratified conditions occur in the horizontal pipe. In the case of CANDU reactor, this model should be used in the coolant flow of 95 feeders connected to the reactor header component under the horizontal stratification in header. The current RELAP5 model can treat the only 3 directions junctions; vertical upward, downward, and side oriented junctions, and thus improvements for the liquid entrainment and vapor pull-through model were needed for considering the exact angles. The RELAP5 off-take model was modified and generalized by considering the geometric effect of branching angles. Based on the previous experimental results, the critical height correlation was reconstructed by use of the branch line connection angle and validation analyses were also performed using SET. The new model can be applied to vertical upward, downward and angled branch, and the accuracy of the new correlations is more improved than that of RELAP5.
The seismic performance of press fittings is studied, which is one of the weldless joints of stainless steel pipe used in the water piping of recent fire protection system. The piping of this study was constructed based on the piping connection reference of NFPA 13. The permissible displacement of the piping was set as the allowed amount which is given in the Building Structure Standard, and the measurements were repeated 10 times. The Von-mises stress of the piping was 2.48 and 1.25 times of the allowed amount of stress, which was less than the standard, noted three times on the NPPs Allowable Stress for Level D service loading. Therefore, the press fittings shows enough seismic performance.
The concrete-filled tube column has the excellent structural performance. But it is difficult to connect with column and beam because of closed section. It suggests that pipe should be produced by welding two sides together where two shapes are joined after a channel is pre-welded onto the three sides in order to form an internal diaphragm. The upper diaphragm of the connection used the horizontal plate and the lower diaphragm used the Vertical plate. This research performed 6 monotonic tension experiments describing the connection upside and downside in order to evaluate the structural capability of the offered connection. And the cyclic loading experiment was performed about 2 T-Type column to beam connections. As to the experimental result edge cutting geometry, there was no big effect. An increase in the number of holes of the plate ultimate strength was increased by 5% and The thickness of the plate increases, the maximum strength was increased by 4%. T-Type connections until it reaches the plastic moment showed a stable behavior.
In this study to improve stability, workability and economics of the H-Pile+Earth plate or H-Pile+Earth plate+Cutoff grouting currently in use, we had developed HCS method belonging to the retaining wall which is consisting of a combination H-Pile, Plastic Sheet Pile and Steel Square Pipe for gap maintenance and reinforcement of flexible plastic Sheet Pile, and the behavior of each member composing HCS method is investigated by three-dimensional finite element analysis. To numerically analyze the behavior of the HCS method, we have performed extensive three-dimentional finite element analysis for three kinds of plastic Sheet Pile size, two kinds of H-Pile size and three kinds of H-Pile installation interval, one kinds of Steel Square Pipe and three kinds of Steel Square Pipe installation interval. After analyzing the numerical results, we found that the combinations of $P.S.P-460{\times}131.5{\times}7t$ (PS7) and H-Pile $250{\times}250{\times}9{\times}14$ (H250), $P.S.P473{\times}133.5{\times}9t$ (PS9) and H-Pile $300{\times}200{\times}9{\times}14$ (H300) is the most economical because these combinations are considered to have a stress ratio (=applied stress/allowable stress) close to that as the stiffness of H-Pile, plastic Sheet Pile and Steel Square Pipe composite increased, the horizontal displacement of the retaining wall and the vertical displacement of the upper ground decreased. Especially, due to the arching effects caused by the difference in stiffness between H-Pile and plastic Sheet Pile, a large part of the earth pressure acting on plastic Sheet Pile caused a stress transfer to H-Pile, and the stress and displacement of plastic Sheet Pile were small. Through this study, we can confirm the behavior of each member constituting the HCS method, and based on the confirmed results of this study, it can be used to apply HCS method in reasonable, stable and economical way in the future.
This study was conducted on greenhouses whose side heights had been raised after the columns of 1-2W basic type greenhouses had been cut and welding with the same-sized pipes. When the wind load or snow load affects restructured pipe greenhouse like this, those parts will be structurally unsafe. To examine this, the bending strength of welded columns were measured through four stages and compared with the pipes in their original condition. Results are as follows. In the case of a bending test on welded joints about steel pipes used for greenhouses, satisfactory results couldn't be drawn because sections of both ends and the loading parts couldn't endure loads and sank regardless of loading methods. Partial problems could be solved by inserting inside pipe(steel bar) at the sections and the loading parts, but it was necessary to devise more satisfactory bending test methods. The strength of welded joints wasn't much different compared with original conditions and demonstrated only slight differences according to the sample production conditions. However, significant incompleteness in the welding process was expected to cause a decisive loss in strength. On the assumption that there were no problems in the welding process or with regard to the inclination of sub materials for columns after connection, it was deemed reasonable to assume that the strength of welded pipes was about 84~90% of the strength of the pipes in their original condition. Considering mid- and long-term strength decline following the onset of rust at joints or welding sections, structural changes in the main sub materials that are used for greenhouses at farmhouses have to be avoided to ensure structural safety, unless these changes are inevitable.
In former times the protection of our environment didn't play an important role due to the fact that emissions and effluents were not considered as serious impacts. However, opinions and scientific measurements meanwhile confirmed that the impacts are more serious than expected. Thus measures to protect our earth has to be taken into consideration. A part of these measures in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). One of the most important parts of the EIA is the collection of basic datas and the following evaluation. Experience out of the daily business of Gerling Consulting Group shows that the content of the EIA has to be revised and enlarged in certain fields. The historical development demonstrated that in areas in which the population and the industrial activities reached high concentration there is a high necessity to develop strict environmental laws and regulations. Maximum values of the concentration of hazardous materials were fixed concerning the emission into and water. Companies not following these regulations were punished. The total amount of environmental offences increased rapidly during the last decade, at least in Germany. During this development the public consciousness concerning environmental affairs increased as well in the industrialized countries. But it could clearly be seen that the development in the field of environmental protection went into the wrong direction. The technologies to protect the environment became more and more sophisticated and terms as: "state of the art" guided more and more to lower emissions, Filtertechnologies and wastewater treatment for example reached a high technical level-but all these sophisticated technologies has one and the same characteristic: they were end-of-the pipe solutions. A second effect was that this kind of environmental protection costs a lot of money. High investments are necessary to reduce the dust emission by another ppm! Could this be the correct way? In Germany the discussion started that the environmental laws reduce the attractivity to invest or to enlarge existing investments within the country. Other countries seem to be not so strict with controlling the environmental laws which means it's simply cheaper to produce in Portugal or Greece. Everybody however knows that this is not the correct way and does not solve the environmental problems. Modern actual environmental management starts in a different way. Due to the above mentioned facts that the public environmental consciousness changed dramatically a continous environmental improvement of each single production plant has to be guarantied. This question is already an important question of the EIA. But it was never really checked in a wholistic approach. Environmental risks have to be taken into considerations during the execution of an EIA. This means that the environmental risks have to be reduced down to a capable risk-level. Environmental risks have to be considered within the phase of planning, during the operation of a plant and after shut down. The experience shows that most of the environmental relevant accidents were and caused by human fault. Even in highly protected plants the human risk-factor can not be excluded during evaluation of the risk-potential. Thus the approach of an EIA has to regard technical evaluations as well as organizational thoughts and the human factor. An environmental risk is a threat to the environment. An analysis of the risk concerning the organizational and human aspect however never was properly executed during an EIA. A possible solution could be to use an instrument as the actual EMAS (Environmental Management System) of the EC for more accurate evaluation of the impact to the environment during an EIA. Organizations or investors could demonstrate by an approved EMAS or even by showing their installment of EMAS that not only the technical level of the planned investment meets the requested standards but as well the actual or planned management is able to reduce the environmental impact down to a bearable level.

Hydrophobic porous PVDF hollow fiber membranes for Membrane Distillation (MD) were fabricated by a combination of thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) and stretching. The purpose of this study is to investigate the shape and operating conditions of the module and the effect of piping size on parallel connection. In the optimization experiment of the vacuum membrane distillation module, the flux decreased as the packing density and length of the membrane in the module increased. When the module was connected vertically, it was confirmed that the nearest to the inlet of the vacuum port was the highest flux. In selecting the size of the header pipe of the module, it was confirmed that the maximum flux is shown when the inner diameter area of the hollow fiber membrane and the inner diameter area of the header pipe are the same. Also, it is necessary to find the optimal linear velocity because the higher the linear velocity in the module, the higher the flux, but the pressure acting on the module also increases proportionally.

Iron was one of the most influential factors for formation and development of ancient countries. The diffusion of ironware had increased agricultural productivity and brought about military technical revolution. Needless to say, the rise and fall of the countries depended on the possession of stable iron production. Raw materials and fuels are the key factors for mass production of iron and a transportation route is essential to supply the goods. Jungwon area satisfies the three factors. There are many iron manufacture sites such as Jincheon Seokjang-ri Gusan-ri, and Chunju Chilgeum-dong Tangeumdae earthen ramparts in the Jungwon area. In order to study the ancient iron manufacture technique, reconstitution experiment was carried out using restored furnace which was made based on the Jincheon Seokjang-ri B-23 furnace. Some notable results were identified with the experiment as in the followings. Firstly, a roasting process has a connection with the decrease of hardness of the iron ore. Secondly, melting of the blast pipe as well as the formation of product within the furnace had a crucial effect on the cessation of the experiment. Thirdly, reduced iron in various locations within the furnace prove that there was enough reducing environment during the working. Not only melting point but also properties of iron can vary depending on the carbon contents. For the reason, formation of approximate environment in which iron can react to the chalcoal is the most important factor in terms of iron manufacture.
