A Study On The Three-Phase Bridge Type Converter Furnished Diode-Bridge Circuits (Diode-Bridge방식 3상 Thyristor순역전력 변환장치의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This paper is to study on the pilot work of bi-directional S.C.R. power converter adopted by the method of diode-bridge type circuit. This apparatus acts as a converter when it is used in convering 3-phase a.c source to d.c output, and it can be used as an inverter which recovering surplus d.c power to a.c source when d.c load become active to cause the induced voltage higher than the presetted point of d.c output voltage. At the same time, its d.c voltage varies continuously in the presetted range of positive and/or negative polarity. As a result of test, the AC/DC bi-directional power converter represents maximum converting efficiency of 91% and power factor of 0.98. Furthermore, this converter also can be applied as a cycleconverter by varying the period of gate triggering signal.

  • Management of today's dynamic projects requires a shift of focus from product to process. The purpose of traditional project controls is to conform performance to plan. The purpose of lean project controls is to make the best possible choices at each point in time during the course of the project, as well as contributing knowledge to the parent organizations so they can learn from project experience. The Lean Construction Institute(LCI) proposed the Last Planner System(LPS) capable of accomplishing that purpose, principally through controlling the quality of planning and of management processes themselves, as distinct from concentrating exclusively on project performance. The case project was a pilot project for the implementation of the Last Planner. Consequently, the coordination of the work on this project was extremely successful. The project had its share of challenges. The coordination did not prevent design problems, or supplier errors, but helped the team deal with the problems effectively while maintaining the work flow. The last planner helped the contractors know: a) who will be doing what and where, b) what each one needs from the others, and c) what are the project priorities. The system itself created a more collaborative environment, because it 'demands' that the subcontractors address these issues.

  • Performance test of 5MW class gasturbine combustor was carried out at combustor test facility of KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute). The combustor is dry low NOx type premixed combustor and fuel is natural gas. The characteristics of combustor were measured including emission, pressure pulsation and exit temperature distribution. Optimum operation point of combustor was found by changing parameters like fuel ratio between pilot and main burner. The test result showed that the combustor performance is sufficient to satisfy the gasturbine system requirement.

  • This paper is intended as an development of moving load simulation techniques. The concern with dynamic problem of railway bridge caused by the moving train loads has been growing. Over the past few years, several studies have been made on dynamic stability of railway bridge analytically. But very few attempts have been made at experimental research. From the dynamic stability view point, the moving train loads simulation test is revolutionary idea. It can be replace restrictive filed test with new laboratory test. This study investigates minimum specifications of hardware and basic parameters. it is used 39m girder and 4 actuators for experimental verification.

A Study on the Efficient Applicability of Fenton Oxidation for the Wastewater Containing Non-biodegradable Organics (생물난분해성 유기물질 함유 폐수처리를 위한 Fenton 산화법의 효율적 적용방안에 관한 연구)

  • This research is about wastewater containing non-biodegradable TDI(Toluene Diisocyanate) that is treated by the activated carbon adsorption method. In the case of the Fenton oxidation process being applied to the existing process, optimal pH, reaction time, chemical dosing amount, removal rate, and cost were investigated. A pilot plant test was applied after finding optimal conditions with lab experiments. The optimal conditions were pH 3~5(COD removal rate 84~88%) and reaction time 30min~1hr. In higher $H_2O_2$ dosing amount, COD removal rate was a little higher. But there was little difference in the removal rate according to $FeSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$ dosing amount. Treatment cost was economical in the case of the Fenton oxidation process being operated earlier than activated carbon adsorption system. But chemical dosing point, chemical mixing effect, chemical dosing amount, removal rate, and the cost of facility and others must be considered in practical process.

  • When it comes to develop flight simulator, HAT (Height Above Terrain) is required to provide altitude information to the pilot who learns how to control an airplane in landing and takeoff situation. However, there might be inconsistent problem between real terrain and simulation information since current implementation of HAT simply depends on center of gravity point on the airplane. To overcome mentioned problem, in this paper, we propose how to obtain more accurate altitude information than existing scheme by making use of HAT and HOT (Height Of Terrain) information of landing equipments according to movement of the airplane. Moreover, we demonstrate the accuracy of the proposed scheme through new flight simulator developed through OSG(OpenSceneGraph) by taking example of terrain information for domestic airport.

Effect of IceWave® organic nanoscale patches on reduction of musculoskeletal pain

  • In this pilot dual-site study with LifeWave IceWave$^{(R)}$ patches, using subjects as their own controls, data were acquired from a convenience sample of 16 males and 24 females, 50% Caucasian-Americans, 50% Hispanic-Americans, ages 20 - 85 with neuromuscular pain. The hypothesis was: the application of IceWave$^{(R)}$ patches to the skin will reduce one's perception of pain. Subjects were tested at baseline (without any patches), and then at 1 and 3 h on day 1 and at 1 h on days 2 - 5 after patch application. At every time point, the mean change, indicative of one's perception of pain, was highly significantly (p < 0.0001) reduced, with a statistical power of 100% compared to baseline. Based on these findings, the hypothesis was accepted as true.

  • Recently, in a field of cadastre, a computerization of cadastral map is in progress with great growth of GSIS field. Also, the needs for the integration of land and building information are widely increasing for integral-management and its application of various land related information. Through a revision of cadastral laws to replace the existing 2D-Cadastre with the 3D-Cadastre, a legal basis to register the position of buildings and facilities is prepared in the governmental or civil fields. This paper presented 3D-Cadastre theory that has been studied on Europe and surveyed building position directly with Totalstation at cadastral control point after choosing pilot test area, Also, the most efficient surveying method of registering building in a cadastral map is presented with comparing and analyzing building position after surveying digital orthophoto and digital map.

A Study on the Characteristics of Pressure Distribution for Heat Exchanger Types of Domestic Gas Boiler (가정용 가스보일러 열교환기 유형에 따른 압력분포특성에 관한 연구)

  • Heat transfer and pressure distribution for heat exchanger type of domestic gas boiler are different from shape, pitch, thickness of fin and array of pipe respectively. In order to measure the pressure distribution across the heat exchanger, a suction type wind tunnel was constructed and velocity distribution was measured for pilot tube(4 point) of rack type. The experiments were performed for 5 different air flow mass, rpm=3,6,9,12,15 and transverse axis of heat exchanger(x-length) is 5cm respectively. Results showed that above 9.5m/s, pressure distribution dispersion for wet type of heat exchanger is on the increase and above 5.5m/s, pressure distribution dispersion for dry type of heat exchanger is on the increase. Also, pressure distribution dispersion by comparing two different types heat exchanger, dry type of heat exchanger showed a higher augmentation than wet type of heat exchanger.

  • The demand of clean energy, like liquefied gas(LNG), increase suddenly because it generates few polluting substances when burned and from the point of view with caloric value it generates ralatively less $CO_2$ gas than the other energy sources. LNG transpotion method of our country is marine transportion by ships because the LNG producing district is far away from Korea. Main engines for most LNG ships are steam turbines, and the efficiency of steam turbine is influenced by the degree of vacuum of main steam condenser. This paper introduce the design method of the vacuum system for high efficiency marine steam turbine. Especially, it is developed the CAD program for the large steam condenser and steam ejector. Also, it is designed the pilot plant including high pressure boiler for the performance test and maked a part of this plant.
